Kumamoto Hotel Castle

The hotel's location was the main reason why we booked the place. It was close to both Kumamon Square and Kumamotojo, the 2 things we wanted to do in Kumamoto. However, note that even though it's right next to Kumamotojo, it still takes a 15~20minute walk to the entrance because it's on the other side of the castle keep during it's repairs. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, standard level of service in Japan is just one step above every other country. The staff did valet parking for me without extra charge, and was quite helpful in helping us to get to different attractions and restaurants. Overall, the hotel is very dated and the rooms are in dire need of a full renovation. I think that is why the rates were quite reasonable. For a hotel this caliber (probably 5 stars when it was first built), we only paid around 10,000 yen per night. The issue is the rooms are really old and the carpet looks dirty and ripped. parts of the washrooms were so old the faucet looked like it's from the early 90s and with small amounts of molds in the creases. Because the hotel is old, the ventilation isn't the greatest either. One of our rooms although was non-smoking, we could smell other room's cigarette smell in our room. Overall, I don't really recommend this hotel because it's really dated, but if you are on a budget and want close amenity it's worth a shot. The staff are nice too so I feel bad for not recommending the hotel, but at the end of the day, there are just better options in Kumamoto today.

We have used it several times. It feels a bit old in an old hotel, but it is a hotel that can be clean and calm. The morning Viking is a 10F restaurant, so you can see Kumamoto Jo castle that took the Asahi in front of you. The Viking was delicious as well. There was ”Kumamoto Ramen” and I made a morning rake on the last day. The size of the room and the hardness of the bed are satisfactory, but because the room light is small, I want another standlight and the bathroom faucet can be set to temperature I'm grateful. I made four stars. I am satisfied because I had a calm and comfortable time

I stayed at the introduction of an acquaintance. It is very clean because it has just opened this summer. Security is also safe because the elevator does not move without the key to the room. Unfortunately, I couldn't see Kumamoto Jo castle from my room, but there was a table and chair on the rooftop, and I was able to enjoy Kumamoto Jo castle at night. The room is equipped with a lot of outlets and USB, and it is not troubled by charging mobile phones. The clothes in the building were unique. Laughs. It became a memory of the trip. The front desk was also kind.

A typical local travelers hotel tucked right next to the Kamitoricho shopping street where food options and convenience are abundant. The nearest tram stop is about 300m from the hotel, and the Shinkansen station is about 20mins by tram from the hotel. All major tourist attractions are also within the vicinity. The hotel has aged over the years but has been very well kept. Rooms are BIG for japanese standards, clean, toilets look very new, and basic amenities like body wash, towels and kettle is provided. Coffee is provided but you would have to walk to the reception to grab a cup. Room is sufficiently insulated and a central heater will keep you warm during winter. However the partition between the rooms are thin so noise from the next room can be audible - we had a occupant snore so loudly that it was faintly audible in the room. It is also worth noting that the footsteps and slamming doors from the corridor may also be heard via the front door. Lastly, although some of the staff may not speak English well, they are very helpful and accommodative - just whip out your google translate and have a conversation with them - they will gladly oblige.

A lovely hotel to stay in close to Kumamoto Castle. The rooms are nice and clean with friendly staff who are very helpful. Bath areas on the 12th floor are also quite nice and have a range of offerings inside. Breakfast was included with the price we paid, however, all the food was a little tasteless, if paying for breakfast, it is easy to go downstairs and get something but I’d probably go somewhere else if paying.

It is about 25 minutes drive from Kumamoto city center, but the street is darker late. If you have time, it is better to stay early. Traditional hot spring hotel, the lobby and rooms are very spacious, but the design style is older, the most important electric fork electric position is less, it is enough to remove the lamp; This time I stayed in a special double room on the upper floor, a big room, and there was a lot of space to move around when the sofa was placed in the middle; The bathroom is also very large, with a round bathtub and hot spring water for bathing; Wake up in the morning and watch the sunrise 🤩 To the hotel's hot spring wind, you have to pass the lobby first, and then go to the other side; I don't know if it is too night, go in and wash, everyone else is soaked, you can enjoy the wind alone, right! The wind is open until 12 p.m. The breakfast buffet has everything, vegetables and fruits are fresh, and the waiters are friendly and friendly.
