Hotels near Kegon Falls in Nikko

My wife and I booked the Nikko Station Hotel II for April 13 - 15 as a non refundable reservation. This week, the US State Dept issued a Level 4 warning for all US citizens to avoid international travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In spite of their normal policy, the Nikko Station Hotel II made an exception due to the COVID-19 pandemic and issued a full refund. We will reschedule our trip to Japan after the pandemic passes and WILL DEFINITELY rebook at the Nikko Station Hotel II, as they have shown excellent customer service in a difficult time!

The hotel environment is really comfortable, full of design, and very integrated with the local environment. The room is larger than other hotels in Japan and very clean. There is a pantry where you can make free coffee/tea. The only drawback is that there is no restaurant, only vending machines are provided, which is more inconvenient if there is no taxi. The parking lot is also very large.

Pension was cosy, clean and well equipped. Bath includes onsen. breakfast and dinner can be arranged with the host for a reasonable charge. It is quite a walk from the bus stop with rather uneven road if you have wheeled luggage. Owner was nice to give us a ride out (at her convenience) to the bus stop. View from room of Mt nantai is lovely and it is convenient to visit the waterfalls...especially yudaki which was the best in my opinion.

The room is quite large, the beds are all large double beds, the tables, chairs and sofas are also very good, there are also projectors and TVs, the kitchen is also fully equipped, including a microwave, induction cooker, and cooking utensils, so you can cook by yourself. The whole room is a big open space The room has no partitions and is not suitable for those who need privacy. Those who live on the first floor may face the noise from residents walking on the second floor. The hotel is located next to the highway, next to a small village, about a quarter of an hour's walk from Tobu Nikko Station. Although the road is not long, it is not very smooth. There is a 7-11 and a larger supermarket within three minutes. There is no front desk, check-in requires self-service, and the room has a password lock. Remember that you cannot check in before three o'clock and you cannot store your luggage. Your luggage can be stored at the station. It cost 5,100 RMB to stay for three days. I've been to many onsen and ryokan all over Japan, and Hoshinoyado truly stands out. The food was spectacular—every bite was truly delicious and featured the local specialties, and everything was styled with seasonal artistry. I can say without hesitation that the breakfast was the best I've ever eaten in Japan. Plus, our table looked out over a shady Japanese garden that was knee-deep in moss, with a sparkling stream. The inn and room were both pristine, with no shabby corners, and the public bath was inviting—very clean, with every amenity you can imagine, and not blisteringly hot. I've seen everything there is to see in Nikko at least once, but I'd go again just to stay at Hoshinoyado.

Arrived at Hotel and parked the rental car in the car park for free. Staff were very efficient and check in was very quick. Japan is still very Covid conscious and masks are worn everywhere. We were advised that there were were facilities for making Tea/ coffee in the room and that we should take any provisions required (for free) from the table arranged in the lobby i.e. tea / coffee / toothbrushes..etc. Room was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and lovely en-suite- lovely deep bath (shower fixings would be low for taller individuals). They had an evening bar and Onsen (natural hot water spring separate for males and females). They had a restaurant that provided an extensive buffet menu for breakfast - very tasty, and they had a select menu for the evenings and what we tried was very tasty also. The staff in the Hotel and restaurant were most friendly and encouraged me when I attempted some Japanese words. A very lovely start to our holiday in Japan - Thank you for your hospitality, we would happily stay here again

The room is spacious and comfortable, the environment is beautifully designed, the service is mediocre, and there may not be enough staff. Unfortunately, the food in the restaurant is expensive and not delicious!

Stayed during sunlight sightseeing. The lobby is large and the guests have free coffee service. The room was a clean Japanese modern room, with 3 beds, 3 small tables and chairs if you choose a Japanese style room. Wi-Fi is not available in the room. But there was trouble around the water. Even if the toilet flows many times, it is troublesome, and ”let's change the room. I need an early response.” I didn't say because I said, ”good.” If you don't use a large flash several times, the toilet paper doesn't flow. But the moment you sat, the zaser and the water flowing were a waste of toilets. Also, the bathroom was too strong in water pressure and the water was an immaciable room. It may be only this room by chance. There is no elevator in the building (lobby, bath, restaurant on the first floor). The large bath was large and the interesting explanation was that Nikko cedar was made using it. The temperature outside was 12 degrees in the spring, but the inner bath was quite wet, and the ceiling of the bathroom was high and the building was very cold. The temperature of the open-air bath was a little high, so it took a long time to get a little warmer here. When I went to the bath for the second time, the water which seemed to be a little hot came in the open-air bath, and the water seemed to be cooling, so I put hot water in the water supply when I left the bathroom and put it on the body. The women's open-air bath was under renovation and the outside cherry blossom bath was not available, and the vinyl sheet was attached at the end of the open-air bath. Therefore, it may be better to go after a little time to go to the bath main. Honestly, it was a bath that was not warm. I thought the bath in the cold was a little higher temperature. When I went out of the bath, I met with a long time ago, so I went to the bath and said, ”I was soaked all the time because I was wet.” ”Is this really a hot spring?” I said, ”It's written in colorless transparent hot springs and there.” Well, it was a meal, but the dinner was beautiful (spring, cherry blossom color, and the season of cherry blossoms). Every item 々 was handy, the taste was delicious, very satisfied, and perfect for sake. The rice was also very delicious. Breakfast was a healthy Japanese meal, and the rice was delicious and I always had a refill. The hospitality and care of the staff were very good inn.

Really nice room with an epic view of the lake and enough space for everything. Meals are wonderful and abundant and a seasonal selection each day Perfect place to stay if you are planning to explore okunikko area or to cycle around the lake, there are also restaurants nearby for lunch. The public bath is very pleasant with an outdoor spring to soak in while enjoying an open sky. Found out there was a shuttle bus back to tobu-nikko station setting off at 11am from the hotel after speaking to a kind staff member, Diane. Do make reservations for the shuttle beforehand at the reception if you plan to take this as well. Rental bikes available at the Nikko natural history museum which is a 10min walk from the hotel

Having only just arrived a few days earlier in Japan - this was our first experience of a ryokan . We didn’t know what to expect but it turned out to be a fantastic experience. From choosing our own Kimono to wear around the hotel to our beautiful spacious room with wonderful views of the autumn trees behind, every detail had been thought about. The onsen was wonderful with a pool. Inside and outside. We had a private dining room where we were served the most incredible meals in beautiful Japanese ceramics of all kinds of shapes and sizes. We were attended to by the Chun, a young Vietnamese girl who was just charming, she couldn’t do enough for us and tried so hard with her English - she really made our stay.. this ryokan is also right opposite the shrines , so its a great location and right on the bus route for getting further into the hills. We really recommend this place.
