Nikko Station Hotel Building2 ★★★
"Good location, but basic amenities. The hotel is very close to the train station and has a convenient supermarket nearby. A three-day stay was the perfect amount of time here to visit Nikko. However, the room is quite small, and the breakfast only includes basic options."
Hotel Murakami ★★
"Great accommodation handy to train station with a Lawsons across the intersection and a 712 just up the road. Also within walking distance to a full supermarket. Some 20 kilometers to the national park and waterfalls."
Nikko Station Hotel Classic ★★★
"Location: Fantastic! Both train stations and the bus terminal are within sight, making transportation incredibly convenient. There's a large supermarket about 600-700 meters away, which is great for groceries. Room: The triple room isn't small, and the beds are comfortably firm. The heating in the room was a bit strong, and a humidifier would have been nice. Amenities: You can pick up various toiletries at the front desk. On the first floor, there's a self-service coffee and tea bar, which is lovely for relaxing with a drink and enjoying the view after a day out. The hot spring has both indoor and outdoor pools, but there are only five showers. If you go during off-peak hours, it's not crowded. The large public bath only has a hairdryer, no lotions or anything else. Breakfast: The menu changes daily. While not super extensive, the overall quality is excellent. The Japanese curry rice is delicious, and the bread is also good."
Fairfield by Marriott Tochigi Nikko ★★★
"Pleasant stay. Hotel is kind of near top of the hill. There’s a pantry by the lobby and also a dining table. Coffee bean machine which is great. There is no restaurant for breakfast. Have to use coupon to redeem breakfast from reception. Japanese breakfast, cold. But there is a food truck outside the hotel which is convenient for hot breakfast like toast. So far room is cozy and water shower pressure is good. Some stains on the wall in the toilet."
Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Hotel Kinugawa Gyoen ★★★
"The Japanese-style room I stayed in was quite large. It was the old-fashioned kind with a key-operated door, and it had a humidifier and a private onsen (hot spring). The indoor and outdoor onsen were separate, and it was very quiet with few people."
Nikko Stay House Arai ★★
"Love it, absolutely love it! It was like dreams come true, the real house, the super friendly host, clean and great! Highly recommended"
Hotel Ootaki ★★★
"Beautiful tasteful high ceiling public bath . Very relaxing when talking the bath while facing a large forest. The Japanese-style rooms are clean and the bedding is comfortable. The price is very reasonable."
K's House Nikko - Kinugawa Onsen Hostel ★★★
"This is the perfect place to stay in Nikko and my favourite so far in Japan! Beautiful, modern and clean rooms and common areas, excellent Onsen and the most friendly, kind and helpful staff! It’s so calm and relaxing. Perfect to recharge your batteries! After three nights I just wish I could have stayed longer."
Kamenoi Hotel Okunikko ★★★★
"Great onsen facilities. Love the indoor and outdoor pools. Hotel is clean and comfortable even though it was quite old. Much to do around the hotel with good hikes. Had a great 2 nights stay here"

Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel
"It was the perfect resort hotel where you could fully enjoy Oku-Nikko in a calm atmosphere. I would love to stay here again."
The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko
"Worth every penny. Period!"
Shelter Garden Nikko
"The hotel is nestled in the mountains, a 10-minute drive from Nikko Station. The lobby and restaurant boast artistic design, perfect for photo ops. From the observation deck, you can gaze out over the mountains and waterfalls, where a white waterfall hangs amidst the lush greenery. The scenery is even more stunning during fall foliage season! Breakfast and dinner can be reserved according to your itinerary; the breakfast is quite standard (Figure 3). The most impressive part was the Western-style dinner. The comfortable setting, fresh ingredients, meticulously prepared, and beautifully presented, rivaled anything found at a Michelin-starred restaurant. This meal alone was worth half the price of the room and a truly unexpected surprise!"
Asaya
"We have a wonderful time at the place, it is quiet, clean, close to a beautiful stream and very relaxing for me and my partner to have a relax trip, will definitely come again."
Itoen Hotel New Sakura
"The accommodation was great! It's not too far from the station. The weather was nice in the morning. The breakfast was a buffet, there's an onsen (hot spring bath), private bathrooms, and various activities. The staff provided excellent service. I'll definitely stay here again if I have the chance."
Kinugawa Royal Hotel
"The facilities were a little old, but the kids enjoyed playing there. The price is reasonable, so it's a good choice for a family trip with kids."
Hotel Harvest Kinugawa
"Very beautiful hotel."
Kinugawa Hotel Mikazuki
"ckean and delicious food"
Nikko Tokinoyuu
"The main advantages of this hotel are its traditional ryokan-style atmosphere, the on-site hot spring baths, and its convenient location. Several tourist attractions and bus stops are within walking distance, and the room rates are reasonable. However, the service was extremely disappointing. On the day of check-out, the hotel only allowed luggage storage until 12:00 PM. After check-out, guests were not permitted to use any of the hotel’s facilities, including the restroom. Instead, we were told to use the public restroom next door. Because of the poor customer service and lack of flexibility, I would not recommend staying here."
Hoshino Resorts KAI Kinugawa
"Really nice hotel. The onsen was wonderful, and I enjoyed the nighttime activities—especially learning about ‘益子燒’."
Kinugawa Grand Hotel Yume No Toki
"The floor arrangement is not satisfactory!"
Turtle Inn Nikko
"Good choice to stay. The location is good for the most touristic places"
Minshuku Okajin
"Do note that there is no lift as it’s a 2 storey building, need to carry luggage up the staircase. In addition, no private toilet in the room, need to share toilet with others. Bathroom cannot locked therefore I got a shock when I went in, saw a naked woman putting a mask on. Beware of this when booking."
Nikko Hoshino Yado
"Booked for one night after looking at the nicely taken pics from the hotel. Do note that this is a traditional Ryokan without shower in the room. Very old building. Walls are slightly mouldy and dusty. Room didn't feel clean. The breakfast included a spread of 6-7 dishes. Salmon sashimi was included as well but had bones. Overall didn't feel that it was worth $530 per night."
The Pageant
"Having read both the good and bad reviews, I visited with mixed expectations and trepidation. I figured a few things would be ok, considering the price included two meals and it was a weekend during the autumn foliage season, but I was pleasantly surprised. The owner's service was simply wonderful. He was polite, kind, and humorous, and he even gave me information about traffic congestion and recommended local spots. The hotel itself wasn't new, but it was well-maintained, and there was an open-air bath in my room, so although I didn't try out the outdoor baths, the bath was nice. The only problem I had was that I had to walk up and down quite a few stairs to get to my room, and wearing slippers and socks made it difficult to walk. All the food was delicious, too. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit Nikko."
Nikko Senhime Monogatari
"While we opted for a room-only plan this time, we would absolutely love to book a stay with breakfast and dinner included on our next visit. Despite it being a room-only booking, the location was superb, and our entire family had a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much."
