The room was clean and the service was very good. The bellman was very enthusiastic to help with the luggage. The next day, he helped a colleague drive to the underground garage to load the luggage. The hotel's supporting facilities are very complete.

Stayed with friends on a trip to Sofia. Very clean and friendly place. Staff was excellent and helping in every way. Owner even took us to a good place to have dinner, which was very good also. Everything close by. Definitely will stay again and would recommend to others.

Located along the main street between the bus terminal and the downtown area, both are within walking distance. In front of the subway station, transportation is convenient. There are also several supermarkets nearby. Breakfast is a prefix menu at the café. Tasty but takes time. When I left early in the morning, they prepared a packed lunch for me (advance request). Comfortable with bathtub.

This hotel was practically next door to the Serdica ancient Roman complex, so as soon as we had checked in, we went out and roamed among the ruins for awhile. But it's actually a perfect location for all your exploration, walking tours, historic sites, etc. The breakfasts were served in the little restaurant on the 1st floor, and it included lots of options. The staff were helpful and friendly, including giving me directions to a laundry, holding our luggage for awhile on our leaving day, and other courtesies. We recommend this hotel, and would stay there again if we ever go to Sofia again.

the room was satisfactory at a whole, esp with the little balcony attached for a small laundry zone, electric water kettle for making hot tea, a small refrigerator for use, a big plastic bucket in bathroom and hair dryer provided. The lightings are bright enough. TV also offered a few channels.
if a microwave or a small oven could be provided by the hotel for customers reheating their takeaway food or bread, alongside with a mini size folderable tea table, they would definitely earn an extra score by all customers.

As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by a uniformed man, who welcomed us to the hotel and took us to the reception desk, having looked after our bags, which were later taken to our room. The lady at reception treated us with great courtesy and efficiency, and therefore, from the outset, we realised we were in a well-run five star hotel with professional and helpful staff. Our bedroom was stylishly decorated in cool shades of grey, with two wide beds, a panoramic window with a view of Vitosha mountain, and the marble bathroom was of a good size, with modern fittings and a lovely walk-in shower. We had booked the Club Room and were not disappointed with the newly opened Club Lounge. They offer refreshments during the afternoon and then ‘happy hour’ from 6-8 pm. We found the service really excellent, with staff keen to help, and spent delightful early evenings having drinks and eating an enticing array of canapés. Breakfasts were also excellent in the Europa restaurant with a wide selection of cooked and cold options from the buffet, and dishes cooked to order such as omelettes and eggs benedict. One last point to mention - we found the Chief Concierge - Todor Goranchovski - most helpful in booking us restaurants and directing us to some notable attractions in Sofia: he was great. The Intercontinental is really a top class hotel and we would not hesitate to stay there again - thank you to everyone who made our stay memorable.
ibis Sofia Airport is ideally located just 500m from Sofia International Airport. Once here, travelling around Sofia is a breeze; there's a network of public transport on your doorstep, including buses, metros and shuttle services. Visiting for business? The Megapark Business Park, European Trade Center and Interexpo Center are just 2-5 minutes drive from the hotel. Travelling for leisure? The ibis Sofia Airport is less than 10 minutes from Bulgaria's largest shopping center, the Mall.

Missed the connection and had to book a hotel near the airport. This Ibis is fine for the night on a stopover but not much to do around.
Still ended up going to town to eat and have a look around so would have been just as easy, and a bit cheaper, if I would have picked a city hotel.
The room was two single beds and nothing much else included, reasonably clean but still expensive bearing in mind it is Bulgaria. Fine for late arrival and short stay if booked early.

Outstanding
GGuest UserWe had a delightful four-night stay. I'm not sure what I can add to the other great reviews—I'm reading them and thinking yes it's spotless and beautifully appointed, yes Ludmil is an amazing host, yes it's a great location, yes the pastries are great (also the Bulgarian yogurt!). Ludmil offers inexpensive airport transfers, and cultural tours so don't bother booking anything else, as he's an avid, enthusiastic and interesting historian. There's a LIDL nearby for snacks & whatnot. It's about a three-minute walk to catch the bus to the airport and there is ample space for luggage.
GGuest UserPros: The hotel design is very modern and clean. The staff are nice and friendly and do everything they can to help you. This hotel is big on sustainability. They don't leave plastic bottles in your room. Instead, you have glass bottles that you can fill up everywhere in the hotel. Every floor has a drinking fountain where you can fill up your bottle.
The food was absolutely amazing. Breakfast is not a buffet. On weekdays, you have to choose between a Bulgarian or a French breakfast. At first, I was disappointed that they didn't have a simple option like an omelet; I went with the Bulgarian option. It was fantastic. Everything was fresh. On weekends, you only have an omelet option, which was also great. For dinner, I got Sea Bass and it was also great! I am fully satisfied with the food served at this hotel. The only criticism I can give is that the breakfast serving window is very small and late (8:30 am to 10:30 am if I remember correctly) and you have to wait for more than usual to get your food.
Cons: The rooms have tile floors, which look cold but are not since I believe they use floor heating. The problem is that they don't offer slippers, which I don't like, since the same tiles continue into the toilet. It doesn't feel clean.
They also don't offer toothbrushes which I would have really appreciated.
I had to unplug the fridge since the compressor made a lot of noise when turning off and on, and I'm a light sleeper.
Overall I would recommend this place if the location suits you, just bring your own slippers and enjoy the food!
GGuest UserI missed my flight at sofia airport so had to book a hotel for one night. So I went for a mid range hotel. It was better than mid range. Lovely helpful staff on reception, an aceptable price with thier discount....paid 68 euros for a large kingsize bed with onsuite bathroom. Comfortable bed, fresh pillows (very snazzy cushions too) and a nice relaxing corner sofa, reasonable TV and every thing was realyl clean. Complimentary coffee and tea, which is not the norm in Bulgaria, nice and quiet, was lovely and warm. Actualyl a bit too warm and I couldnt turn the heating down so I had to sleep wit hte fridge open to cool off as aircon didnt work. THis was the only negative for me. They did an airport pickup, but not a drop off and this nearly stopped me booking, as they should have told me this at the begining, however they were saved by the fact the metro was 4 stops to the airport and cost me 1.60 leva, so about 70p. I picked up food from the little shops in the metro, as I hit a holiday so the restaurants close by were closed. A very lovely stay and Id go there again. AND they had these lovely drop lights near the bed as side lights, some veyr nice touches, clean crisp sheets, soft towels and nice soaps etc and they dont ask you to leave till 12 lunch time. My photo doesnt do the room justice
GGuest UserMe and my husband stayed there for 3 nights. Lots of dust in the room, like no one cleaned areas at the head of the bed for years. The same situation is in the bathroom, broken drain plug in the bathroom tub, mold, rusty stains. We had great expectations regarding this hotel. We do not recommend it. Three stars are for the friendly English speaking staff, delicious breakfast and central location of the hotel.
GGuest UserCons: no breakfast despite free breakfast being advertised on Tripadviser and mentioned on the laminated sheet in the hotel room. No restaurant open at all, despite being advertised and mentioned in hotel room. I didn’t notice until afterwards a note on hotels.com stating restaurant closed for a time period, but my stay was a month after this time period anyway. The staff just said “we don’t have a restaurant”. No airport shuutte despite being advertised. Bed was bigger than expected (was expecting a single bed) but very hard & uncomfortable, with a lumpy pillow. A bit rough around the edges (broken chair, broken shower door, cracked basin). Pros: Great central location. Fairly clean, fairly quiet. Air-conditioning and TV in room. Wifi was ok. Overall I would have been happy with this hotel for the low cost, if I’d known what to expect, but I booked here partially based on free breakfast and airport shuttle. They need to update their Tripadviser profile and their in-room laminated leaflet as it is currently misleading. Not a 3 star hotel in my opinion.
GGuest UserI'll start with the positive points first: - I'll start with the positive points first - The minibar and the drinks at the bar are cheap Now the negative points they are effecting mostly the rooms: - The carpet is dirty and the rooms stink. Most probably they never changed the carpet since the hotel was build - The air conditioning was installed later. The hose to dispose the water from the air conditioner goes through a hose into the bathroom and ends above the bathroom floor. this means that the bathroom is always flooded when the air conditioning is on. this is definitely not acceptable. - The room cannot be darkened because the fabric of the curtains is very very thin and translucent. As soon as the sun rises it is not possible to sleep. In my case it was around 05:30AM when the sun came up. This point bothered me the most because I didn't get enough sleep on my business trip. I have visited the hotel Hemus regularly since 2017 when I have not been able to get a room elsewhere. in 2019 they had done major renovations, but I still don't understand what exactly was improved. the points just mentioned above have not been resolved. only the tv was exchanged for a flat screen and the bracket for the old tube tv was removed. Maybe this was the reason of renovation. I hope that someone from the hotel will read this as a general overhaul is urgently needed. Especially with the carpet and the curtains. There's no point in choosing a hotel to relax after a long meeting day and can't even sleep because of the windows that can't be darkened or the smell of the carpet that has never been replaced.
JJoeMackayReally happy with our stay here - the location is good with everything in walking distance but nice and quiet in the area. Our room was large and well-equipped, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Would happily stay here again, especially for the price
GGuest UserSveta Sofia is a traditional hotel in a quiet pedestrianised street in the city centre. All staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. The receptionists speak excellent English. Rooms are big and include a settee and coffee table as well as fridge and coffee making facilities. There is constant hot water and great water pressure. The hotel is very clean, including the breakfast room. Rooms are cleaned every day, towels and sheets are spotless. Its true there is no bar or outside space but it is so near lovely roadside cafes you really dont miss out. The breakfast is varied and plenty of it - self service but you can get an espresso made by the restaurant manager. Because the hotel is in a pedestrionised street, there is zero traffic noise. In fact there is very little noise as the bars are not in this street. It also feels safe here which I think is important. I highly recommend Sveta Sofia if you are thinking about visiting this lovely city.
GGuest UserGood location not far from all the activities and to the public transport. Walking distance to Nevresky Cathedral and St Andrew Russian Style Church with onion domes. Friendly staff probably family owned but housekeepers do not communicate in English. Good breakfast and varied. Big room with terrace but could not manage to operate the AC .
