The Inn at Fox Hollow Hotel

Woodbury|1.95km from city center
Where to begin… my parents got a room to look at some houses nearby. we’re from Long Island so they were quite familiar with the area. I live in NYC. Let’s not even get into the fact that the decor looks like someone intentionally picked out the more hideous individual items at a bargain basement to win some sort of contest but I get a text the morning after their first night that my dad (72) fell in the bathtub and was in the hospital. ***. so I flip out and head out to the hotel from the city. The police had to come and upon looking at the bathroom, the ADA handles were completely in the wrong place (no handle at the edge of the tub to hold onto when getting out) and no grip on the floor. They are well aware a majority of their guests are older and regardless, there should’ve been compliance. There was literally BLOOD all over the bathroom floor. The staff barely gave a sh*t except to ask why we didn’t contact them first — instead of the police????? Oh ok sure. So clearly caring more about their insurance than the well-being of my father. At one point I went downstairs to get 2 bottles of Pellegrino for my mom who was scared out of her mind and the guy started asking me what happened to my dad, so I told him the details, but don’t worry, that didn’t stop him from charging me $17 for the two waters as I did. Unreal. My father needed stitches and a cat scan. The scan thankfully came back clean but was in a ton of pain (he had fallen directly on his back) so eventually he was discharged and we came back to the hotel. His bandage from his stitches had come open so my mom went to the front desk to ask if they had tape. The guy handed her a scotch tape and had the AUDACITYYYYY to ask for her ROOM NUMBER. He was legitimately going to CHARGE HER for the scotch tape. I can’t even comprehend what kind of person does this. She refused to give him her room number on principle and said she’d simply take 2 pieces and call it a day. Unbelievable. Finally my mom goes down to complain about the entire experience to the manager because seriously ***. The manager seemed relatively apologetic and when my mom told her what had happened w the tape, the guy was right there and my mom said “do you really think that was the right thing to do given what we’ve experienced?” and this guy rudely replies “yes I do, that’s policy”. Areeee you out of your mind??? What kind of hospitality is this?!? My mom is now dealing with their insurance company because they didn’t even offer any kind of compensation (no night free, no comped anything, still charged for $17 water) and she made it clear to them she would be refuting this stay with Amex. On top of that, they both got Covid from the hospital. Like, are you even for real. This place is horrific and I will tell every single person I know to avoid it like the plague. Despicable treatment.

I made the mistake of booking this hotel for my entire family & bridal party. Everything they told us was a lie. This place looks like the motel that my friends & I used to have hotel parties at when I was a teenager. The furniture was scratched, old, & looks like it came from a garage sale. Every room had an odor, things were broken in each room, everybody was having issues. The worst part of all of this is that there was construction at the hotel. My now husband & I had driven down Jericho turnpike a few weeks prior to our wedding. I noticed a construction site in front of the hotel. We called asked if this was affecting the property in any way shape or form. We were reassured that there was no construction on the property at all . When we arrived, the parking lot was dirt, rocks, caution tape everywhere. No pavement. The big beautiful tree in the front of the hotel is ripped out & there’s temporary construction fencing, rocks, dirt & caution tape right in front. I had guests dressed for a formal wedding in heels gowns suits&tuxedos tracking through this. They also told us that hot breakfast was serve every day. Which is half true. When I asked if it was just package foods like muffins & granola bars they said “no it’s fresh made to order food that can be either delivered to the room ,picked up or eaten in the lobby.” Breakfast was basically like Jimmy Dean style egg sandwich wrap and placed in heater & microwavable pancakes. The lobby is a joke. Maybe eight people can sit comfortably to eat, And that’s being generous. I will say, they had juice water coffee, a very nice tea selection available 24/7. We were also told the the hotel provides shuttle service to any stores or destinations within five miles of the property, as well as pick ups and drop offs to the train station. Nope. Not one employee knew anything about this. Apparently, it is an imaginary shuttle. So there’s that. Although The girls at the hotel are very sweet, everyone was full of excuses as to why service was slow, etc. My mother-in-law and Aunt were splitting the cost of the room. When they went to pay, The guy at the front desk told them that they could not split it on two separate cards because his system didn’t work that way. Really? As a bride, i was hysterically crying on my wedding day absolutely mortified. We had guests from all over the country at the is place. I’ve never been so embarrassed in my entire life. This is The Worst Place Ever

Holiday Inn Plainview-Long Island, an IHG Hotel

Plainview|2.28km from Prime Time Butcher
Our stay at this hotel was the most pleasant of all the hotels we stayed at in NY (we stayed at 3 different ones). The hotel was very, very clean and we enjoyed our stay of two days. We were on the first floor (which when we got there we had asked to move from the third floor they had originally booked us in and they changed the room without any hesitation to accommodate our request) which we were able to drive around the side of the hotel and enter right from the parking lot...loved this! The outdoor pool was wonderful... lounge chairs around it for relaxing after a swim. There was tables just outside the pool area with canopies to get relief from the hot sun and to have a drink...very nice spot. There was a restaurant/ bar right in the hotel which seemed busy all the time it was open. We really enjoyed the pizza from this spot! One thing I absolutely loved about this hotel was the shower! The best shower I had in a long time...lots of water pressure and no shortage of hot water. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied was Dove and large pump bottles not the tiny little bottles usually found in other hotels. Dove pump to wash your hands at the sink and Dove pump Body Lotion. The staff were very friendly and accommodating... just a great vibe there. In the front of the building there is a small waterfall on rocks surrounded by bushes and a bench across from it to sit.. was very pretty in the evening. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again if visiting this area!

Holiday Inn Plainview-Long Island, an IHG Hotel

Plainview|2.25km from Maddy Fine Jewelers

I have stayed here a few times and every time it is a different experience-mostly bad. This last time I stayed has been a terrible experience. Everything in the room was broken, the tv remote, the phone, the blow dryer, the iron, the light and the sink faucet was leaking. The front desk didn't even try to help or accommodate for the issues we were experiencing or switch rooms when I complained about the issues, all she said was ”I am by my self and your TV is not Samsung so I can't provide another remote.” How is this my fault? She was unhelpful and just said I have to wait until morning for ”maintenance to arrive”. So how are you a 24 hr operation but cannot help no matter what time it is? Terrible customer service, I am very disappointed as this used to be one of my favorite spots a long time ago.
