La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich

Seefeld Zurich|1.43km from Perla Park
Stayed here for 2 nights and, overall, the hotel was very good. Has a boutique feeling to it on checking in. Reception staff all helpful and charming but not a ”grand hotel” which was not a problem. Car valet and parking service and location is right alongside the lake and a 5 minute walk from the old town. Modern decor and amenities but lacked a library or reading area (at least we could not find it). There is the ground floor Eden Bar which was fine although quite stark. DJ on Saturday nights and Sunday early afternoon. The only disappointment to us was the room. We went for a Deluxe City and ended up on the 4th floor in room 47. In terms of amenities the room was absolutely fine - King size bed with quality linen, decent shower and branded shower gel etc. The problem was there was no sofa or arm chairs so we were confined to reading on our beds and the bathroom / corridor, had one sink so only one of us could access the sink at any one time. There was a small outside deck with chairs and a table which would have been good in the summer but it was -4 when we stayed. The website advertises these rooms as ”1 Queen- or King-size bed, 269 to 355 sq ft 25 to 33 m2 and couch - in almost all rooms”. Probably the luck of the draw - great to have the King size bed but unlucky to have no sofa or double sink bathroom. On Sunday night we ate at La Muna on the top floor and would definitely recommend that. Charming staff and very good food in a good atmosphere, we really enjoyed that. Took a look at the gym which was clean and modern although not particularly large so not all CV equipment might be available early in the morning. I would definitely return although would want to de-risk the room issue with going for a higher category. The room size was a downside for us on this trip but everything else was very good.

Park Hyatt Zurich

It seems clear to me that the quality of customer service in travel has greatly deteriorated in the last three years. I understand that service providers have trouble finding and retaining people and the ones they have often don’t seem to take pride in their work. Sadly, I’ve come to accept this as the “new normal.” Which is why our recent three-night stay at the Park Hyatt in Zurich was such a welcome surprise. Not only was our room clean and comfortable but the service we received, from start to finish, was efficient and personal. Just a few examples: We had a flight delay and airport transfer difficulty arriving to Zurich and did not get to the hotel until after 1:00. The gentleman working the front desk who checked us in, got us waters, helped with our bags and personally escorted us to our rooms. He was also working the next night when we returned to the hotel after dinner. He spotted us coming through the lobby and literally ran over from the front desk, greeted us by name and asked if our room was acceptable and if there was anything he could do for us. The housekeeping staff are a bunch of ninjas. You never saw their carts in the hall but we’d leave in the morning and when we returned in the afternoon the room was made up. Perfectly. We’d leave for dinner and when we returned the room was turned down. Perfectly. We had drinks the first night at the Onyx Bar. When we returned the next night, the bartender remembered both our names and our drinks. We interacted on several occasions with the daytime concierge. I wish I remembered his name. It wasn’t just that he was knowledgeable about Zurich and responded immediately to our requests. He acted like speaking to us was the absolute highlight of his day. I know these are all little things but they added up to a wonderful stay. Plus, the hotel couldn’t be more conveniently located. Staying at the Park was a luxury item for us but, let’s face it, traveling anywhere in Switzerland is a luxury item. I would return to the Park for their level of personal service in a minute.

Where can I start? Firstly the hotel advertises that there is parking available, please we aware that unless you’re going to leave your car in a space up the road (not designated for the accommodation), then there is NOT parking available in the sense you’d expect it to be. Any space that appears to be on site has signs about not leaving the car with threats of towing your car. We ended up parking in the city centre for 40CHF a night. We did expect cheap and cheerful but this was not cheerful. When we went in, the apartment didn’t appear very clean, and on opening the fridge door there was leftover food in there (including fish, which my partner has an anaphylactic allergy too, although that part isn’t their fault, it just added insult). The kitchen cleaning sponge and towels were dirty. The hairdryer was broken and dangerous to use. The shower screen was broken. The toilet brush had hair left on it. The curtains were stained. There were more issues but if I mentioned them I’d just be sounding petty. Finally, the king size bed only had a single sheet. We sent an email and in all fairness they did remove the leftover food, replace the towel, bin the dirty sponge, “fix” the shower screen (it was a bodge job and will break again soon im sure), and replace the shower head (something we’d not complained about?!) When looking for somewhere to stay in Zurich we narrowed our search down by looking for somewhere with parking. We thought the cheaper price would be as it was out of the city centre, and relatively basic, not dirty. I would recommend you avoid this, or only book if you have very low expectations.

We stayed here a night snd we were impressed. It was clean and modern and in every way nice. Also the service was outstanding. We have started a train trip that included a round trip of Switzerland and almost a dozen hotels. Apparently someone canceled our reservation at this particular hotel despite the fact that we prepaid in months ahead of time. When I have shown them my reservation and the existing voucher I had they worked on correcting the mistake for an hour and a half. They said they will honor the reservation and don’t want me to pay twice. They called the Swiss travel company in Zurich snd under the time we had lunch in their cafe everything was straightened out. I was very impressed. Room was excellent, bathroom and linens are spotless, it had s very modern and clean feel to it. We loved it. We will stay here next time in Zurich. Location is great too, close to the water and the Opera house with lots of little eateries around and trams very close. Excellent stay! I can’t say the same about the cafe which is inside though. The food was bad except the prosciutto which you cannot ruin. But the goulash was bad. We are originally from Hungary so we do know a good goulash since our country is the home and original country of this dish. It was anything but.. snd the bread they served was so dried up snd hard crusted we could have killed somebody with it hitting on the head.. the service was even worse. The older guy was walking around and pretending to be busy had three tables to take care of when we sat down. He did not even ask what we want for fifteen mins. Since we waited for the front desk straightening our reservation mess we stayed but otherwise I would have left. The he ignored us more and when ready to pay another server vane who actually was much nicer and more attractive, but altogether it was a bad lunch with horrible service. It is not the fault of the hotel though but still makes them look less excellent. Anyway my recommendation is to stay here but find another eatery close by. Mitzi

Boutique Hotel Helmhaus Zurich

The hotel is located in the old city of Zurich, in a good location, right next to the Grissmunster cathedral, across the street from the Limmat river, and convenient to every location in the old city. It is a 15-minute walk from the central railway station, and can also take 2 light rail stations. Close to Bahnhofstrasse, the service staff is very welcoming, in a hotel like Switzerland it is considered to be large, the room is still floor and very warm. Staying in the hotel has a touch of history.

Small Luxury Hotel Ambassador Zurich

The Ambassador is a newly renovated hotel just off the lake in Zurich. Old town and shopping just minutes away. Train station and tour busses a 30-minute walk Staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable and clean. WiFi didn't work but got a passcode for the business WiFi instead. Television also had some issues (kept rebooting). But, we chalk that up to a new place. Everything else was great!
Marktgasse Hotel

The room is quite big, very clean, the toilet is super big. Hotel location is great. Look at the city center. One minute is the tram stop. You can buy a 1-day traffic pass at the hotel reception. However, the small roads in Zurich are all bumpy small bricks.
