Inns in Yunnan, China

The room smelled heavily of cigarettes, and there were hairs on the sheets and pillowcases, which was disgusting, but everything else was worth the price. The proprietress was nice, the inn facilities were very thoughtful, the details of the public areas were carefully arranged, the location was good, the price/performance ratio was high, and there were not so many bars in the ancient town to bother you when you go to bed at night.

This is an excellent spot for people who are visiting Lijiang. It is within Lijiang Old Town which has so much to do. There are tons of places to stay, but this place is right outside the north gate, about 200M. Very accessible and drivers/tour groups to Tiger Leaping Gorge/Jade Dragon Mountain can easily pick you up from here. It is within Lijiang Old Town so cars cannot come in. Don’t make the mistake of not messaging ahead of time that you need a cart to take your luggage like I did. They will come pick you up free of charge. Add them on WeChat and they will respond quickly to any requests. The place has 2 entrances, one is a coffee shop. They have tea and snacks, plus a lovely garden for guests. There is plenty of space to put your bags and comes with a humidifier for the drier air. I highly recommend this to travellers who are coming from afar. The breakfast was great as well.

This is a wonderful guesthouse. In fact, it was my favorite accommodation of my 30 days in China. The family who run it are absolutely delightful - it's their home, where guests are made to feel very welcome. One family member speaks good English; another has a speed & dexterity on the translation app that is unparalleled; and everyone is extraordinarily helpful. I've never received so much kind assistance in a lodging before.. although the two little grandsons, aged 2 and 3, are still learning ;-) The location is just perfect. It's a few minutes' walk outside Dali old town's south gate. I soon discovered it's actually better to stay here than inside the gates, because there are more food options and fewer tourist shops in this zone. The guesthouse is located right between two streets that have many, many restaurants, plus numerous street stalls and even a few cafes, with places open from early morning until late at night. So it's the ideal base for enjoying the multiple delights of this very special city. Oh, and my room was great too, up on the third floor. I loved waking up to views of Mt Cangshan, sometimes topped with a cloud, sometimes clear. If I can return to Dali, I will request a room here for sure. Staying in this family guesthouse makes a magical place seem even more magical. :-)

The B&B is small but very cozy, and it has a lovely little courtyard. However, the bed in the room was quite hard, which made it uncomfortable for me to sleep on. This is a great season to visit Yunnan; the temperature drops to a few degrees at night but reaches over ten degrees Celsius during the day.

The inn is right next to Zhu Family Garden. There are places to eat downstairs, and it's very close to every tourist attraction. The owner and his family are very nice, there is a pick-up service, and there is a place to drink tea in the lobby. There are more than two bottles of bottled water in the room, you can get them at the front desk. My family of six consumes several bottles a day. When we went out to play in the rain, the owner's mother was so thoughtful to collect all the clothes we had hung outside. It was a great stay. I will stay at your house again if I have the chance, and I will also recommend it to my friends!

The place looks exactly like the picture. Very beautiful. The room was included with towels and basic amenities. They also provide me hair dryers (yes, multiple), air humidifier and indoor slippers. My room is also equipped with smart toilet, which comes with seat warmer and bidet. This place is also located very close to Lijiang old town, in fact one could argue that the place is located in Lijiang old town. The staffs here are very friendly and helpful. Brought me to some places for souvenirs and advice me which street food is halal and non-halal. Definitely will come and stay here again if return to visit Lijiang.

What a great location for being amongst the terraces! We splurged and got the terrace view room, and it was very nice with a great view, comfortable bed, warm blankets, and hot shower. The room has an unblocked view of the terraces. But if you don't get that room, the upstairs balcony has the very best view. But we enjoyed watching the sunrise from our bed with hot tea. Lucian is really great! He explained to us different hiking options for seeing other views. His English is really good too so you can ask him any questions about the area. He has a sweet old dog and a cute young cat. He's also available to pick you up if you get lost or have trouble getting back after sunset. There are 2 good restaurants a 10 minute uphill walk away, or Lucian can cook you meals, which are also great. Thanks Lucian! -Travis and Elisha (Colorado, USA) PS. It's an old house, and the sound insulation is a little flawed. The rice noodles for breakfast are delicious 😋 There are also afternoon tea, fruits, etc. The environment is quiet and very suitable for vacation. The price is more expensive during the May Day holiday, but it is cost-effective during normal times.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. The owner is incredibly warm, kind, and welcoming — he even personally helped carry our luggage all the way to the room, which truly made us feel cared for. The hotel is spotless, very well maintained, and extremely comfortable. Everything exceeded my expectations. I highly, highly recommend this place to anyone visiting. Definitely a 5-star experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The guesthouse is located in the old town, not yet on the main street. It's a quiet oasis amidst the hustle and bustle, and parking is convenient. The owner is very kind and friendly, like a friend. A detailed travel guide was provided upon check-in. The next day, they even helped us arrange for an electric scooter to be driven directly to the guesthouse, and the return was also conveniently done there. This saved us a lot of time traveling with elderly people and children. The rooms were clean and hygienic, and there's a spacious lobby on the third floor with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a lotus pond, where guests can relax and enjoy tea.
