Hotels With parking in Akita Prefecture, Japan

During winter, the road for the last 800 meters before reaching the hotel is closed, and you must walk in. Guests need to park at Okama Onsen first. Before arrival, you are required to inform the hotel of your check-in time so that a staff member can guide you on foot to the property. The staff will help carry your luggage, but if you have many bags, it’s best to inform them in advance. The highlight of this stay is definitely the walk to the hotel. You walk deep into the forest along towering walls of snow on both sides, and eventually discover the onsen hidden in the woods. It feels truly special and secluded. The lobby area is not very large, and the number of staff is quite limited, but overall the service was very good. Dinner was served at a counter bar, and the chef was extremely friendly and spoke good English. The receptionist at the lobby, who is from Taiwan, speaks English, Chinese, and Japanese fluently. She explained everything clearly, helped carry our luggage on the way out, and even assisted with clearing snow off our car. Personally, I found the public onsen area to be a bit disappointing. The floor was icy and slippery, which felt somewhat unsafe. However, the private onsen in the room was excellent — very private, spacious for an in-room bath, with a beautiful view and wonderfully fragrant mineral water. The room itself was spacious, quiet, and peaceful. Mobile signal does not work inside the hotel, but the hotel provides Wi-Fi, which was stable and fast. Both breakfast and dinner were very good, and the hotel responded to emails and accommodated our special dietary requests, which we really appreciated. The only regret was that the snow was extremely deep during our visit, making it hard to fully see and imagine the surrounding scenery.

Apologies for the rather low score on service but as this is an unmanned hotel, and I had no direct experience of utilising the help line, I could not rate any higher; I did bump into the cleaning ladies, who are doing an excellent job, on my early morning departure, and they were most kind. The hotel is right next to the train station and has its own storage lockers as well as a beautifully maintained lobby with excellent amenities, including vending machines and freely available teas and coffee. The room was well appointed and clean and there was no noise, as expected in a more rural area. The day before check-in, one will receive an email and will be asked to fill out a pre-check in procedure which will produce a QR code necessary when actually checking in at the machines upon arrival-there are no staff on site. This proved seamless for myself, but may be somewhat perplexing or frustrating for older folks or those, like myself, who are not so technologically literate. There is a help button for those who may need it. I was delighted to find that there are coin operated washing/drying machines available. Nearby, there are cafes and bakeries and everything worth seeing is within manageable walking distance. Walking a little further will bring one to some lovely shrines at the end of the town and on the opposite end a beautiful view overlooking the town and the cherry blossom lined river. Having missed cherry blossom season by a few weeks, the view at both sunrise and sunset was worn the extra steps. Do try the local udon, the set pictured was from Machiya Hall and was most delicious.

Although the hotel's decor is dated, the facilities are well-maintained and have everything a traditional onsen ryokan (hot spring inn) should have, and the equipment isn't outdated. The onsen has both indoor and outdoor sections, but in winter the outdoor temperature isn't high enough, so only the indoor onsen is available. The onsen has white floating debris and smells of sulfur, just like the Kaniba Onsen (crab farm) 😂. The hotel is family-run, but the owners haven't neglected service despite its age; on the contrary, you can feel their efforts to provide guests with the best and most up-to-date amenities in many details. I've been to many onsen ryokans in Japan, and while the facilities aren't as modern as some, they're comparable to established ones. Most importantly, I felt a strong sense of hospitality, which was very touching. I would definitely come back if I have the chance.

Service: The service was impeccable. We booked a one-night stay with two meals, and the hotel staff were already waiting for us at the station to pick us up. Because we arrived late, they even held our dinner reservation for us! Our train was cancelled the next day, and the hotel staff patiently explained how to take the bus and provided a timetable. They even drove us to the bus station – the service was excellent, and all of this was free! Cleanliness: Very clean. Environment: The hotel is next to a beautiful, pristine forest! The hot spring environment and water quality are top-notch, perfect for honeymooning couples! The tap water is drinkable and tastes incredibly sweet! Service: The service was the best I've ever experienced at a hotel.

The hotel service was good. Booking the timed shuttle bus service was very convenient! Our room was in the East Wing, which required carrying luggage up a few steps before being able to take the elevator to the room. This aspect needs improvement. The room itself was very spacious and comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet style, offering a wide variety of dishes, including local specialties. After 9 PM, dandan noodles were available as a late-night snack. The public hot spring bath was also quite nice!

I was leaving early the next morning, so I searched for a good value place to stay without meals and found this place. It's a little far from the station, but I was able to relax in the bottom bunk of a bunk bed. There's a kitchen, microwave, cooking utensils, etc., so I think it's suitable for people who want to do a lot of things themselves.

An absolute gem! The views stunning, and food is exquisite. The rooms are all recently renovated with wood and in a minimalist style. The hotel had a faint fragrance of cedar? Our rooms each had ocean-facing private baths and panoramic sunset views. I feel so recharged and replenished. The setting is remote but actually not that hard to get to given Japan’s excellent transportation system. It’s 3.8 hours from Tokyo to Akita and then a lovely 50 minutes local train ride to Oga. The ryokan will pick you up. (We opted to book a local shuttle bus as we were seven people with luggage and opted to stop at the Namahage museum beforehand to learn about local lore.) The hotel has a really fun aquarium nearby which kids loved—polar bears, penguins are the main attractions but we also enjoyed the jellyfish and deep sea local fish exhibits. Highly, highly recommend staying here. The staff was incredibly helpful and gracious. Teisui is in on my list as a place to revisit.

I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel in Japan. One highlight was how fast and efficient the hotel check-in process was. And the overnight parking is available at a nearby building for ¥1,000. The room was considered spacious compared to typical hotels in Japan, which made the stay very comfortable. They also provided all essential amenities. Breakfast was another plus, offering a wide variety of delicious options to choose from. Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient stay, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is right next to a underground rock concert shop. It has frequent tenants who played there or attend the concerts there. If you are driving , you won’t be able to get their parking slots as it mostly reserved for the regulars. The nearby parking lots charges 400 Y from 4pm-8am so if you arrive shortly after check in time and decide to head out early the next day, you may use the 2 carparks that is right beside the hotel. If you can’t make it in time, the hotel cheapest parking option is behind Lawson where they have monthly season parking lots. It’s 600 yen per night from 3pm to 10am. room wise, price to value is below average probably becos of high demand in the vicinity. As for cleanliness, can be better improve. My aircon filter and air filter machine was producing really moldy and smell air , probably from previous guests who sweated in the room. Was a big turn off lucky I came during autumn, can just open the window to get cold air in.

The woman at the inn was blunt, but she was normal, and if the location is gone, you can't find an inexpensive inn. The difficulty of less 々 was blind. Please continue to do your best.
