Gulangyu is a must visit when going to Xiamen. Brown, our guide, was fantastic with a lot of knowledge of Xiamen and China. One downside of the tour is that due to the holiday we could not start at the originally scheduled time because ferry tickets were sold out. We were able to complete the majority or the tour given the shorter duration. My advice is to spend more time on the island getting lost in the old town, looking at the incredible architecture as the buildings and history is impressive and interesting.★

The Nanputuo Temple + Gulangyu Island day trip far exceeded my expectations – a perfect score! The itinerary was well-planned. In the morning, we visited Nanputuo Temple, a tranquil ancient building with distinctive Minnan (Southern Fujian) eaves, allowing us to experience Minnan Zen culture. Afterward, we took a boat to Gulangyu Island, enjoying beautiful sea views. Once on the island, we followed our guide through the streets and alleys, listening to the stories behind the old villas, and visiting popular spots like the famous street corner and Shuzhuang Garden, soaking in the unique atmosphere of this "Piano Island." There were no hidden costs throughout the trip, and the guide attentively cared for the group members, providing engaging and entertaining explanations without rushing us. This tour covered two of Xiamen's most classic attractions in one day, making it both convenient and fulfilling. It's perfect for groups of friends or families, and I highly recommend it when visiting Xiamen!Trip.com picks
