It was a fantastic experience. Taking the boat trip and seeing the Porto and Gaia area from there was beautiful. There was no guide, just a recording that explained things in several languages, but it was enough to understand everything. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed the ride on the Douro River with Captain Antonio and our hostess, Nuna. She informed us about the bridges spanning the river from Porto to Gaia and served a sampling of Portuguese wine and port with a delicious cheese board. Seeing the city from the water was spectacular.

The tour was nice. They were touring you through the river and back. It was hard to find a right spot where you can hop on but seems you can anywhere near the bridge. The picture where we find them is here.

It was alright. Arrival: The app indicated a meeting point 10 minutes earlier, where you were supposed to exchange your online ticket for a physical one. This information is no longer entirely accurate, as you can thankfully use the digital ticket for the activities without having to exchange it. The boats suddenly went to the other side of the river, so I had to quickly go to the opposite side of the meeting point for my booked time slot. I could have waited half an hour at the meeting point for a different slot. The boats depart every half hour from either side of the river. It would be great and important for this information to be updated on GetYourGuide to make it more transparent. This would immediately make for a more relaxed arrival. The boat trip and the app were good. The combination ticket was great, but World Discoveries is more suitable for families with children.

We traveled to the Douro Valley with two families (4 adults and 3 kids ages 11–13), and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Our first stop was Quinta da Roêda (Croft), where we enjoyed a fun and relaxed port tasting. We then had lunch at a wonderful locals restaurant, Tábua D’aço, easily the best meal of our whole Porto trip, with incredible food and truly amazing staff. After lunch, we enjoyed a scenic one-hour river cruise, followed by an olive oil and wine tasting at D’Origem, which ended up being our favorite stop of the day. João was fantastic throughout the entire experience — attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly detail-oriented. He also did a great job engaging the kids, which made the day enjoyable for everyone. The car was spotless, comfortable, and perfect for our group. Thank you, João, for making this such a memorable and special experience for our families. Obrigada!
