Reviews: Peniche: Berlenga Island and Cave Tour

Visiting Berlenga Island is a special experience. It’s really beautiful and unique. If you want the whole package, be prepared for a challenging walk up from the fort back to the boat. Or just choose to have some refreshments and chill out at one of the two snack bars on the island. You can also canoe or swim in the crystal clear water in little bay (if you can handle 18deg water).

Perfect. The staff was fantastic, young, fun, and knowledgeable. The place is gorgeous. I was alone, but they managed to make themselves understood even though I speak little English. Definitely a must-do!

Reviews: Peniche: Tour to Berlengas and Glass-Bottom Boat Cave Tour
Guest User2026-10-04
We thoroughly enjoyed the trip to the island and the short tour on the glass-bottom boat. Unfortunately, the guides on the ferry (catamaran) were difficult to understand over the loudspeakers due to the choppy waves, but they seemed very friendly and clearly enjoyed their work. The two guides on the glass-bottom boat were very friendly and helpful, especially with boarding and disembarking. If you're physically able, you should definitely get off at the fortress and walk back. Important information: the path first crosses two stone bridges without railings or any other safety features; people with a fear of heights or falls (or balance issues) should be aware of this beforehand. Then there are many uneven steps to climb. The view, however, is well worth the effort! We thought it was a perfect excursion, finishing with a drink at the bar as the sun set.

I booked this activity for two families; there were 12 of us. The children and adults thoroughly enjoyed the guide's stories and the speed of the boat! An experience to repeat :)

Reviews: From Porto: Full-Day Trip to Coimbra & Aveiro with Boat Ride

A great day of discovery, the guide was knowledgeable, but we had to buy our Coimbra sightseeing tickets just before departure (which wasn't planned...) and there were no pastries to taste...
