Here is the revised and polished review with Barelang Seafood replacing the previous seafood restaurants, while keeping the full flow of your original experience.

⭐ Family Trip Review: Batam & Puncak (Deepavali Weekend)

Travelled via Batik Air – Morning Flight from KL to Hang Nadim Airport

We travelled to Batam during the Deepavali long weekend on the morning Batik Air flight from Kuala Lumpur. The flight was smooth, on time, and comfortable for our family of five. Hang Nadim Airport was easy to navigate, immigration was quick, and Grab rides were readily available — great for families arriving with luggage and kids.

⸻

🌅 DAY 1 – City, Culture & Sunset at Barelang

After checking in, we headed for brunch at Sei Enam Seafood near Batam Center. The restaurant is Muslim-owned and fully halal, serving delicious chili crab, butter prawns and grilled squid. A solid start to our Batam food hunt.

🕌 Masjid Jabal Arafah

Our next stop was this peaceful hilltop mosque. We loved the calm ambience and the beautiful observation deck overlooking the city. The café upstairs was perfect for a short break while the kids enjoyed the view.

⸻

🌉 Barelang Bridge & Sunset

By late afternoon, we made our way to Barelang Bridge — an iconic spot with stunning views, cooling wind and plenty of photo opportunities. The sunset here was beautiful and worth the short drive.

🦐 Dinner at Barelang Seafood

We had dinner at Barelang Seafood, located near the bridge with a relaxing seaside atmosphere. The food was fresh and served quickly — our favourites were the steamed fish, chili crab, and sambal kangkung. The kids enjoyed watching the boats and the open-air setting gave the meal a really nice island feel.

It was a great first day, not rushed at all despite the holiday crowd.

⸻

🎡 DAY 2 – Family Activities & Shopping

🐾 Puncak Beliung

We took a day trip to Puncak, and it became one of the highlights of our entire getaway.

🏰 Keranjang Sultan (Puncak)

A unique, giant basket-shaped building surrounded by beautiful scenery. Plenty of photo spots, cool mountain breeze, and very family-friendly.

🌈 Rainbow Slide

The kids’ absolute favourite attraction — fast, colourful and fun. Safe for children and managed by attentive staff.

🪂 Flying Carpet Ride

Thrilling but safe, with an incredible floating platform overlooking the mountains. The safety harness and staff guidance made us feel comfortable, and the photos turned out amazing.

The whole Puncak trip was memorable — cool weather, unique attractions and a refreshing change of scenery.

🛍 Nagoya HM

A convenient stop for shopping, snacks and souvenirs. Lots of halal dining options and a spacious prayer room inside. The kids had fun at the arcade, and it was a comfortable place to unwind in the afternoon.

We ended the day with light shopping, desserts and an early rest.

🌄 DAY 3 – Visits to Mosque and around the city

We just spend the day to enjoy Batam City. Will repeat the trip to explore Bintan
