This is a truly historic hotel, dating back to the 1800s, and it's full of character. You can feel its history in every detail. It's also conveniently located right across from the train station. A word of advice for booking hotels on Ctrip: always compare prices. I've noticed that Ctrip's international hotel bookings seem to engage in price discrimination against loyal customers. The price often jumps just as you're about to confirm payment. However, if you abandon the booking and search again on Ctrip, the original lower price often reappears.
**Hotel Review: Crewe Hall Hotel and Spa, Cheshire**
As a solo traveler with my beloved sausage dog, Stanley, I recently had the opportunity to stay at Crewe Hall Hotel and Spa for one night. Here’s my experience:
**Location:**
The location of the hotel is absolutely excellent. Nestled in beautiful grounds, it provides a serene backdrop for relaxation and exploration. The picturesque setting truly enhances the overall experience.
**Arrival and Service:**
Unfortunately, my arrival experience was somewhat disappointing. The service upon check-in felt slow and not particularly welcoming. There was no offer of assistance with my luggage or guidance on where I could take Stanley, which left me feeling a bit lost. I expected a more hospitable reception, especially given the hotel’s reputation.
**Room Quality:**
On a positive note, the room was clean and well-appointed, featuring a lovely spacious bathroom that included a plush robe and complimentary toiletries such as shampoo and soap. I appreciated the mini bar, which had complimentary water, adding a nice touch to my stay.
**Room Service:**
One downside was the room service hours, which ended at 10 PM. I arrived at 8:15 PM and was informed of this limitation, which felt a bit early for a hotel of this caliber. It would have been nice to have more flexible dining options during my stay.
**Dining:**
The hotel itself is stunning, and the grounds are a joy to explore. I had breakfast at the brasserie restaurant, where the attentive staff made a significant difference. The breakfast was wonderful, with a variety of delicious options that set a positive tone for my day.
**Overall Impression:**
While my stay had its ups and downs, the beautiful setting and the quality of the accommodations were highlights. I hope that the service experience can be improved for future guests, as that would truly elevate the stay. I would consider returning, especially for the lovely grounds and excellent breakfast, but I would hope for a more welcoming atmosphere next time.
Rooms are extremely light and clean, sturdy beds. On the hotels official website, it states the rooms air air conditioned, however, this is not true. When we asked the guy on reception, he tried to convince me that I’ve read it wrong and tried to make me out as being stupid, but it clearly states the rooms have aircon but only the reception/lobby has air con. The room was very comfortable, could do with having some netting as looks directly into the offices across the way, unless you close the curtains.
I had a good stay with my girlfriend at The Tytherington.
The only thing we were unhappy with was the food. It took about 1 hour to receive our food, and we were also told different information about the Kitchen closure time. Likely, we could give our order on time, but someone who was served after us was not able to. It seemed that on the day we visited, the kitchen staff was either short-staffed or had other issues. The staff behind the counter looked inexperienced, with only 1 or 2 who knew what to do, though they had too much to do already and couldn't assist.
The view from their garden was great, over their golf pitch.
The first arranged room in 311, the toilet seat cover is broken. And the next room was a dog kept barking. The reception staff rearranged another room for us shortly, their attitude is really good. But the room rearranged to 223 is in the basement, the air circulation is really not good, you can smell the strong pet smell in the hallway. And I can see the 3rd floor lift lobby had dog poo. To be honest, they were doing a dog exhibition, but they are not really well organized to avoid all the inconveniences caused. That’s not really fair to the customers who don’t expect those scenarios.
My husband had a broken bone in his leg we where booked a room on the first floor. When he saw us he arranged for our room swap, offered us tea and coffee whilst we waited for this to be arranged. All staff were very professional and courteous offering to take our bags to the room. We will plan another trip as we were unable to use the facilities.
The room is big (designed for a family of four) decorated in nerf theme, kids would love it. All is good but our shower tap is not functioning well, only gives out boiling hot water which we had to use the bath and let the water cool down a bit before we can use a towel to wash. Not the best but image it’s a good place for family with young kids. Walls are thin, we can hear next door running and snoring. Ear plugs ensured a good night sleep :D
The Mill Hotel & Spa is in an ideal location, just 5 minutes walk from Chester train station and the centre of Chester itself. So, what is a stay in this hotel like?
I stayed in the Business Class Double room with a view of the canal. The room is a fair size, with the king size bed being very comfortable and clean. A big drawback for the room, however, is the lack of air conditioning facilities available. I stayed at the end of July, and whilst the outside wasn’t hot, the room itself was stuffy and opening the window didn’t really help too much. I can’t imagine what it would be like staying here in during a heatwave, which is becoming more common!
The room also comes with decent tea and coffee making facilities, along with a desk for working. The bathroom is a good size, but it could do with a bit of cleaning. There are two shower nozzles - the smaller standard nozzle was fine but the rainfall shower nozzle was extremely dirty. It looks like it hasn’t been used in a while - and I’d recommend not using that particular shower if you stay here. The extractor fan vent is also very dusty and obviously hasn’t been cleaned in a while!
Over to the spa facilities - they are nothing short of exceptional. This is the real draw when staying here, with the swimming pool and sauna being to an excellent standard. Use of the swimming pool and gym is free to all guests whilst staying here, so make good use of the facilities!
I opted for the inclusion of breakfast during my stay, and I’d say it was ok rather than great. The amount of food available isn’t huge, though the likes of the croissants and cooked breakfast are to a good standard.
As the hotel is in need of an update - it firmly feels like it’s stuck in the mid noughties - the hotel does excel in the standard of service provided to its customers. Whether that be from the cleaners, the reception staff or the waiting staff, everyone is smiling and friendly. It makes all the difference! Would I stay here again? Yes, I would. I hope they do update the rooms soon enough - they really do need air conditioning! And I also hope the bathrooms were thoroughly cleaned a little more. But everything else was to a good standard and for the price paid (£90 for two people with breakfast and spa facilities included), you can’t find much better than that!
Hotel is a bit old and lack of refurbishments.
The room doesn't have good insulation especially during cold night one radiator still feel very chilly inside the room.
Only one soft and no chair to sit in front of desk, the bed was a bit tilted.
Overall it's an okay hotel if you want to have a short stop.
The room is very clean. They may have other business activities when they are on a business trip. There are so many handsome guys, all of whom are above 180. There is a favorite croissant for breakfast🥐 The surrounding environment is very good, there is also a swimming pool and a gym

GGuest UserI took my wife here for her 60th, amazing staff receptionist charlotte was warm and knowledgable, very kind giving us a token due to birthday.
The infinity pool is amazing warm clean, Shrigley would make much more money if they served drinks while in the pool, but we would still be there now.
The rooms are adiquate they are clean, the shower's are amazing, Dinning for evenning meal again was excellent, the service is 11/10 and I have been in a number of Spa the meal cost were really well priced with excellent food.

GGuest UserStayed here twice before and was satisfied with experience. Unfortunately, this time, I had to change the room as the curtains were falling down and wouldn’t close. The replacement room they gave me smelled of sweat and wee. Other than that the hotel is nice and reasonably priced. Parking is good. Cleaning needs to be prioritised to improve the experience
GGuest UserWe have actually stayed here several times over the past month as it is so peaceful, comfy, and ideally located for what we need.
The staff were so welcoming from the moment we first arrived, Ann on reception immediately upgraded us to a larger room when she saw how much luggage we had with us, she has also always greeted us with a smile and a welcoming hello everytime we pass reception and has been very helpful and nice to talk too.
Shakir arrived just after Christmas and has been an absolute superstar with all guests, it appears he will help anyone with whatever they need. He is so pleasant to talk too and even encouraged my wife to sit with the staff one night and join in the conversation which for us was going above and beyond, as my wife has been socially isolated for health reasons.
The housekeeping staff are always available should they be required and Rumi has been very helpful and always polite with a smile and hello.
The hotel had been shut for years and only recently reopened, so is quickly being renovated. The Restaurant and Bar are currently closed but I am sure will be fully operational soon. The lift isn't working but hopefully will also be fixed soon.
All in all a very pleasant stay and we are actually sad to have to leave.
We will be back soon x
GGuest UserChecking in at the main Oddfellows hotel was smooth but it would have helped to have the exact address of the apartment in advance, so we could park more easily. There is one parking space at the apartment but it is a tight entrance!
Apartment 5 was upstairs and very spacious. The lounge/kitchen/diner was well set up and the tea and coffee available was very welcome. Bedrooms and bathrooms were large, comfy and clean (but could do with a few hooks for towels or coats). There is even a laundry room. Decof is quirky and the location is great - just off the main streets. Fabulous place to stay.

GGuest UserWhen I used the pool it was virtually empty. I love that it was open until 9pm as it meant I could swim after a long day out.
The room was big and spacious. Only downside is the shower wasn't great, there wasn't much power and the water was too hot. Could have done with having air con or even a fan as it got quite hot in the night.
Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay
