Arrived early - 40 minutes - asked if possible to check in. Told to wait ten minutes and then told ok. Went to room and not ready. Housekeeping not aware but did say they'd do our room quickly. No problem. Just wanted to use loo and would come back later. Returned much later. Room ready and clean. Bedroom bin had not been emptied. Very noisy from traffic through the night. Pillows uncomfortable. Breakfast pretty poor. Hot offering sparse and cold. Continental limited. Staff were very pleasant which was lovely and probably made up for the shortcomings. Would choose somewhere quieter, ideally.
Overall experience was good, I have been a few times but the room we was in wasn’t the best the WiFi was weak so we had to connect to our phone data and the shower curtains were dirty definitely needed replacing.
Nice relaxing place, beautiful garden. Only issue I had no water available at night. Vending machine cash only. Rest of hotel card only. Reception staff were not helpful. Could not offer a glass of water. Disappointed.
It was a very nice and modern hotel with a large room and comfortable bed. The use of the spa was complimentary with the room and we were very impressed. There is a bar and restaurant onsite and although service at times was slow (but it was busy) the food was delicious and reasonably priced. My only downside was that there was no hairdryer but other than that all that was provided was very good.
Located on part of the Birmingham University campus in Edgbaston so good location for academic conferences / visiting the university, also short distance to dental hospital, cricket ground, tennis centre etc. Plenty of free parking including blue badge and EV charging. Check-in was quick and efficient. Angela, who checked us in, was friendly and helpful. There is a large bar which serves smaller meals throughout the day and also a restaurant in the evening. The bar food was average price for hotel food (£12+ for sandwich with some soup) and average quality. Room was clean and tidy, with modern decor. It was very spacious and well equipped with seating and table, ironing board, plenty of pillows, pod coffee machine and plenty of coffee pods, tea bags etc. Black out blinds worked well and there was minimal noise from other rooms / corridor. Would definitely stay again if in the Edgebaston / Birmingham area.
The hotel's location is excellent. It's about a 10-minute walk from Xin Jie train station, making it very convenient for getting around. Museums, the library, and the canal are all within a 10-minute walk. The English breakfast at the hotel is plentiful and tastes great, much better than outside restaurants. The room was clean, the environment was quiet, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. We arrived early and they allowed us to check in ahead of time, which was great service. The only area that needs improvement is that the bathroom drain is quite slow. This might be due to an older building renovation where the plumbing issues couldn't be fully resolved. Overall, it offers good value for money.
It was really an amazing experience at the DoubleTree Hotel. The location was not hard to locate. The environment was so clean and tidy. The receptionist welcomed us with a warm smile. The room was well furnished with daily needs. We love our stay there and will surely recommend it to our friends and family.
Came a long way to stay for couple of days for a wedding. Big reunion w some friends from around the globe.
Pros:
Hotel is at the great location. Lots of food option at Touchwood Mall opposite the hotel. Hotel food are quite reasonable too.
Staffs at the lounge & breakfast are Fantastic. They are friendly and helpful.
Rooms are spacious and bed are comfy.
Cons:
Reception should be better. We were attended by Josh during check in and he is not friendly and helpful when few enquiry asked.
A friend of mine (a couple) was assigned to a room which AC wasn’t working. And when asked for a room changed, he said its not available. He mentioned that it was an ongoing problem and offered them a fan instead. How is that possible they are still selling a dysfunctional room to a guest when they know its an issue! But if they want an upgrade, they can but they have to pay £13!! I think its bizarre!
My friends was stucked to the same room till the end of her stay w a FAN!
Overall I am happy with the stay but i need to rant about the room assignment. Its common sense.
The location is good as there is 3 big shopping store like Tesco and Home bargain very close to the hotel. There is a big car park outside and you can drive to city center around 15mins

GGuest UserThe room is old, but big. The service is OK. British hotel rooms do not have slippers and water, so you need to bring your own. The breakfast is also good. It is far from other places, so it is not very convenient to buy things. You need to take a taxi.
AAnonymous UserGood condiments. Spacious room and toilet. Good service. Good location. Was lucky enough to book during low peak bec the sound proofing in some of the rooms are not so good. Feels like whoever was outside talking or even just closing doors felt like they're in our room lol!
RRazorbelle_travel_aroundThe 6th Floor room that I stayed for one night from Saturday to Sunday this time is not as nice as the other rooms I had before, although the bed, the hair-dryer, the closet, the TV and the main room itself is lovely and comfortable enough, still the bathroom just looks...old.
Plus the view outside of the window (buildings and more building and a road) is just boring.
The WiFi is nonexistent this time, I tried to login but it didn't work, I am not sure it is because of my own cell phones have issues or because the WiFi is bad.
Please remember to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste, a face towel would also be nice.
A pair of indoor sandals too if you dislike walking barefoot.
GGuest UserLocated in Birmingham city center, which isn't huge, so getting around is very convenient. Shopping is also easily accessible. The price was reasonable. However, the room wasn't very spacious, and the soundproofing wasn't great, perhaps due to the age of the building.

NNaiyoudangaojiabingjilingI was genuinely surprised by how convenient the hotel's location was. It's just 20-30 meters from the train station, making it incredibly easy to reach. We could walk to every attraction, completely eliminating the need for public transportation. Chinatown being right next door was fantastic, offering endless dining options to suit all our family's tastes. The hotel itself was very quiet and comfortable, and it felt incredibly secure. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our stay!

GGuest UserWe've stayed here many times and everything has always been fine.
Unfortunately, this morning they were a bit unorganised in the breakfast room, no saucers, no glasses, no bowls and a few more things missing. They soon rectified things when asked.
GGuest UserGood location close to M42, free parking onsite, easy access to reception check in was straightforward lifts to all floors and the room was perfect clean and warm.
self service for buffet breakfast good variety for every taste. would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
GGuest User5 stars. Exceptionally clean room, outstanding staff and an unbeatable location. Everything you need is within walking distance and the surrounding shops and amenities make it the perfect spot. Friendly people throughout and an altogether excellent stay. Highly recommended.
