Experience the beauty of Alnoba's eclectic outdoor art collection with an exclusive artist-led tour led by sculptor Joseph Gray. Join Gray on a captivating two-hour walk through the forested trails of Alnoba, where he will share the inspiration behind his spiritually-inspired sculptures. As a master sculptor with four decades of experience, Gray's work is not to be missed. Nestled throughout our campus, his unique pieces can be found among the extensive collection of internationally renowned artists at Alnoba. Gray's sculptures are created using the ancient technique of hammer and chisel, transforming massive blocks of stone into stunning works of art. His Native American background as part Abenaki infuses his art with a deep connection to the earth and nature. During the tour, Gray will guide you through his creative process, revealing how he allows his ancestors and spirit animals to guide his hand. This spiritual experience is one that Gray loses himself in with every sculpture. Please note that space is limited to 15 people, so advanced reservations are required. Dress appropriately for the outdoors, and be prepared for a leisurely-paced walk with breaks. Snowshoes are welcome in winter when the ground is covered in snow. All proceeds from the tour support Kensington's Sawyer Park, a safe and beautifully-maintained space where families from the Seacoast region gather to enjoy the outdoors. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the art and nature of Alnoba.

All proceeds donated to support Kensington's Sawyer Park. Walk roughly three hours long over wooded trails and some uneven terrain. Join NH sculptor Joseph Gray to walk Alnoba's forested trails and hear directly from the artist about the inspiration behind his work. Ask questions, share your thoughts, and get inspired! Gray has been working with stone for four decades and has more pieces in Alnoba’s extensive outdoors art collection than any other artist. His unique, spiritually-inspired sculptures can be found nestled across our campus. Your tour will include both Gray's work and his unique insights into other pieces by internationally renowned artists in the Alnoba collection. Gray creates his pieces using the ancient, hands-on technique of hammer and chisel. “There are thousands of chips of stone lying around my sculpture,” he says. “I have taken an eight ton block of granite and turned it into a small girl walking out of fire in a Holocaust tribute. To most people that would seem impossible. I do not think that way.” As part Abenaki, Gray believes his Native American background plays a key role in his art. “It connects me with the earth and nature… When I am carving an ancestor or spirit animal, I do not know what I am carving when I start. I can feel my ancestors guiding me. It is a spiritual experience for me and I lose myself in every sculpture.” Notes and Guidelines• Meet Gray in the parking lot before the tour start time.
