The service here is wonderful! The staff are very friendly, and the receptionists are incredibly helpful, making the check-in and stay very smooth. While I enjoyed the hospitality, the breakfast menu was a bit disappointing. It was very basic and lacked any 'standout' dishes that would appeal to tourists. Great service, but the food options need more variety

This hotel… TBH, I was expecting more.
I knew this hotel undergo a rebranding and refurbishment. So I was excited to try the HoJo brand.
The room is clean, but not new. Partially you still see fittings from the previous decade. It’s a funny thing to see new and improved features alongside the classic furnitures and appliances.
I like the new filtered water faucet. Very convenient.
The shower is great too. Good pressure and temperature. Comes with a bathtub. Bed is nice. Room comes with ironing board. Basically everything I would expect from a hotel.
Then comes the disappointment. The mini bar is so bulky, and so old. the air cond control… I don’t know what is it controlling. There’s only one dial for temperature. No control for the fan speed or anything.
Then the TV, small and a very old model, fitted onto the wall with backlight design. That’s just so funny. And the toilet, the flush is barely working. And cigarette smoke from somewhere is coming in via the ventilators.
All things said, it’s still a value stay. I just find it extremely weird. A half-baked refurbishment.

I expected a great hotel stay and they delivered. All the staff were lovely. Thank you for that.
My only issue is the lack of room information regarding what is available in the hotel. Normally I would expect marketing information and menus for restarunt and bar in the room. The TV does give room service menu but was not required.
Fortunately we found Ben, the Concierge in the lobby who very kindly explained what we asked, and provided a map for the area. Very welcome. Thank you very much.

We had a lovely stay at The Luma Hotel. I instantly fell in live with their interior the moment I saw it on social media, more so when we got to experience staying in it. Apart from their impeccably well-thought of interior design, I also appreciate how accommodating their staffs were as well as how convenient the location of the hotel. Would definitely come back once I visit Kota Kinabalu

This is our 3rd stay at Sky Hotel. We booked a 2-bedroom suite and checked in at night, but unfortunately the room was not clean. There was dust and powder on the sofa, the floor was sticky and dusty, some flooring was chipped, and there was an unpleasant smell.
We called reception to request a room change but were told the hotel was full. Housekeeping came to check and confirmed the room condition. We took some photos and went down to the reception counter, after discussingabout 10 minutes, the reception offered us an upgrade to a bigger suite, which was clean and much better.
Appreciate the staff for resolving the issue quickly, but the room cleanliness should be improved.

AMAZING!!!! The staff here! They are so unbelievably friendly and helpful. They truly made me feel so special and welcomed throughout my stay. Especially the ladies at breakfast and the guys at the door. I got the seaview room and that view was breathtaking! Front row seats to that sunset every day! The rooms are very clean and the beds and pillows are extremely comfortable, would 100% recommend if you’re looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The rooftop bar also has the best view of the sunset in my opinion. Breakfast was great, too- so much choice!

1. This is, hands down, the best hotel for watching the sunset. Unlike other city hotels where islands to the west often block the view, the sunset here is largely unobstructed. If you're lucky, you'll witness a breathtaking sunset that will be unforgettable.
2. The hotel's cleanliness is impeccable. I didn't spot any trash while walking through the garden, and I could comfortably walk barefoot on the paths without feeling any debris.
3. Although the facilities are a bit dated due to the long time since the last renovation, the quality is still very good. During my stay, half of the hotel was undergoing renovations, which caused a slight inconvenience.
4. The service is absolutely top-notch, truly five-star quality. However, I must mention that there were unexpected hazards everywhere, which was a bit concerning.

Sunset-view room was divine! The room was spotless and incredibly well-equipped. Everything was within walking distance, and there's a supermarket right downstairs, which was super convenient. They even offer free luggage storage. I'd definitely choose this place again next time.

The hotel's location is excellent, right on Gaya Street, making it super convenient for food, drinks, and exploring the Gaya Street Sunday night market. It's also close to the waterfront market, though we didn't visit the seafood market. Getting to Jesselton Point for island hopping is very easy from here. The only downside is that Tanjung Aru Beach is a bit far and traffic can be an issue when taking a taxi. I paid an extra 100 to book a sea-view room, and it was totally worth it – I could watch the sunrise and morning glow from bed. The room was also very spacious, the bed was comfortable, and overall, it offers great value for money!

MMongGrThe location is good. Not that near to town center. Parking is definitely a challenge since its opposite a shopping mall. Traffic rather congested around hotel. Nearby parking is at least Rm6 per entry.
There are mosquito in the room and I dont know how they got there. Room cleanliness is acceptable. Swimming pool and gym facility is decent. Sufficient for light usage.
Buffet breakfast is rather bland (I stayed for 5 nights include weekend) all the same repetitive food.
Cost wise i think is worthy since the price include breakfast.
Picture attach are the food I found at the shopping mall beside.
GGuest UserI stayed for five days. For the first four days, I was in a Kinabalu Wing mountain view room, which was very ordinary. On the last day, I moved to a Tanjung Wing sea view room, and that's when it finally felt like a vacation. It honestly felt like staying at two different hotels. The hotel's overall environment is undeniably beautiful, with many people coming from elsewhere just to watch the sunset. The pool is fantastic, and there are plenty of activities, though there's no direct beach access to the sea, and all water sports are chargeable. Breakfast was quite mediocre; it was the same every day with limited options, and it was often crowded with staff seemingly rushing to finish their shifts. The front desk staff were also quite rigid and their service felt perfunctory. The most highly recommended thing is the SPA – it was absolutely amazing, the best experience I've ever had.
GGuest UserOverall, I'm quite satisfied. The room was spacious, and the hotel is located right by the pier. There was dedicated staff to handle luggage, though the facilities are definitely outdated and the room had a strange odor. The service was decent, but the front desk really helped us out of a bind when an unexpected situation arose on our way back.
LLove CoffeeMy first stay here and I think would be my last too. Was actually requested a quiet room but still giving the room which facing the contrustion site. Noise of the construction site was up to 10pm+ and 5am+ the prayer from the nearby mosque will make you jump!
Impressive with the location but not the room. Furnitures in room quite old but still acceptable, but cleanliness and maintenance was terrible.
1) Water leaks out from shower room to walkway via the wall.
2) Old and dirty toilet with mold
3) Malfunctioning light bulb
4) Stains on the towel ( sticky like chocolate, like unwashed)
5) Ants on table & bed!
6) Loosen door lock
7) Dirty chair

GGuest UserOur stay at Shangri-La Rasa Ria was truly a wonderful experience. The place is beautiful, relaxing, and perfect for families. The kids had so much fun enjoying the surroundings, exploring, and making happy memories together.
We also loved the food — every meal was delicious and satisfying. What made the stay even more special was the warm hospitality of the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile, making us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay.
It was definitely a memorable trip filled with fun, relaxation, and quality family time. A place we would love to visit again someday. ❤️

AAnonymous UserWe booked a renovated room, supposedly from 2 years ago, but when we arrived at 6 PM, they told us there were no rooms on the second floor, only on the first. They assured us it was the 'best room,' but as soon as we entered, there was a strong musty smell, and the hairdryer sounded like it was about to explode. After watching the sunset and having dinner, we returned to find the room getting hotter and hotter. We then realized the air conditioning was broken. It took three calls to finally get through to the front desk. The maintenance worker spent half an hour trying to fix it with no progress, and then told us we'd have to switch rooms. During all this, the room was incredibly stuffy and hot, almost unbearable. The front desk kept apologizing but only offered an extended checkout or a ride to the city the next day, and we had to decide on the spot what time we wanted to leave. This 'sorry' attitude was really disappointing and quite unbelievable.
The funniest part was that the room they moved us to was on the second floor – the very floor they said had no availability earlier. It was clean, no musty smell, and not hot at all. It makes you wonder who they were saving those rooms for, or if they were discriminating against us.
The hotel environment itself is beautiful and very photogenic, with lots of free and paid activities. Feeding the monitor lizards was fun. However, the front desk's attitude and their handling of issues were consistently poor. Exercise caution if you decide to stay here.
Also, we heard the hotel restaurants aren't great. We ate at the sunset bar, which was enough to fill us up, but you can't order takeout.
