The room was much better than I expected, very spacious, clean, and tidy. The water quality in Kota Kinabalu is indeed just average, so I brought my own showerhead. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

I had a wonderful stay at this homestay! The location is incredibly convenient and right in the heart of the town, which made it so easy to get around. Parking was hassle-free, and having Jesselton Point Ferry just next door was a huge bonus, especially for day trips and island hopping.
The homestay itself was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. I truly enjoyed waking up to the fantastic view each morning and this made the stay even more special. Overall, a great experience with both comfort and convenience. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

This is a great hotel located near the city center and very convenient for the airport. The facilities are excellent, with everything you need, including a swimming pool and fitness center. It's a good option for a quick overnight stay if you arrive late at night, though the breakfast is just okay. The front desk staff were fairly friendly. The scent in the elevator was a bit odd, though.

Service: The front desk service was great; they spoke a little Chinese and were very patient. I asked for a higher floor, and they gave me the top floor, 21st, which was a hidden gem, a room type you can't book online.
Hygiene: Very clean, no strange smells, I was basically very satisfied with my stay.
Environment: Very comfortable, I loved staying there. The warm wooden tones make it a hotel I'd consider staying at again.
Amenities: The space was incredibly large, with two bathrooms. Both the master bedroom and the living room were spacious, and the balcony had a great view. Perhaps because it was a hidden room type, it even had a stovetop and a range hood. The tea bags were TWG, and there was also a large selection of coffee capsules.

The hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the beach, which is ranked as the third best sunset beach in the world. It's an older hotel with small balconies and a quiet atmosphere. The front desk was able to arrange an early check-in. They speak fluent English, but didn't understand any Chinese. There aren't many food stores nearby, and seafood is quite expensive. It's a convenient 10-kilometer taxi ride to the city center.

Stayed for 2 nights for business purposes
Booled for 2 days breakfast but eventually too tired to woke up very next morning so i skipped it
Anyways price was on the average to high side, internet wifi is ok
The downside is the spillage of water after u taking a shower, up to the toilet door, surprisingly water pressure was superb
5-10min to Imago Mall walking distance
Recommended to stay
Room was spacious

I expected a great hotel stay and they delivered. All the staff were lovely. Thank you for that.
My only issue is the lack of room information regarding what is available in the hotel. Normally I would expect marketing information and menus for restarunt and bar in the room. The TV does give room service menu but was not required.
Fortunately we found Ben, the Concierge in the lobby who very kindly explained what we asked, and provided a map for the area. Very welcome. Thank you very much.

Let's start with the positives: the location is incredibly convenient, within walking distance to various downtown attractions. The price was also reasonable, even during Chinese New Year, and the service was good. We stayed here for one night after an early morning flight, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The environment is comparable to a budget chain hotel in China, and it can be a bit noisy facing the street. It's also an older version, not the newer 3.0. So, it's a decent option if you're looking for value for money for a temporary one or two-night stay.

GGuest UserKlagan Regency has been my family choice since its opening. And everytime we went, everything is perfect!from the process of check in went smoothly until checkout,we've been treated kindly by the staffs..not to mention the buffet breakfast, especially the nasi lemak❤️.the hotel is connecting to the mall and theres a convenience store next to the hotel, just a few steps from the entrance.we'll definitely come again❤️
AAnonymous UserBefore coming, I saw a lot of negative reviews, but after actually staying, it met my expectations for a Shangri-La. The online complaints mainly focused on two points: first, it's old, and second, there were renovations. I've stayed at the Shangri-La in Penang before, and the rooms in Kota Kinabalu and Penang are quite similar – a bit dated but within an acceptable range. The beachfront environment is lovely, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of delicious options, also comparable to the Penang Shangri-La. The renovations mentioned in the negative reviews are in the Tanjong Wing lobby area. The noise wasn't really an issue; you only hear it when passing by. Currently, all check-ins are handled at the Kinabalu Wing lobby, and the service is excellent, with luggage being delivered directly to your room. Also, my Trip.com booking didn't require a deposit. I booked a ground floor room with a terrace in the Kinabalu Wing. The terrace offers a partial sea view, not as direct as some of the central rooms in the Tanjong Wing, but still nice. Plus, there's a sofa bed, so it could actually accommodate three people. My only minor regrets are that the toilet was dripping slightly, and I couldn't find a hairdryer in any of the cupboards or shelves, which I assume housekeeping forgot to put back.
XXiaolanmaosarahThe hotel was really just so-so, but its location is great. It's only a 10-minute walk to the pier for boat excursions, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around. However, I really have to complain about the hotel's service. We were two adults and one child, and we brought our own toiletries. We just wanted to ask for one more bath towel, but the hotel refused... Honestly, it's the first time I've encountered such a stingy hotel. I wasn't trying to take it home; it's just that two towels aren't enough for three people to shower. That's easy to understand, right? Seriously, it's speechless...

Great
SSiniyansiTraveled with my bestie, and I booked this hotel specifically because I loved the look of the bathtub 🛁.
First, the positives: The service was attentive, and there was even a Chinese butler, though most staff primarily spoke English. The environment was fantastic; the pool and beach loungers were clean and comfortable. In the afternoon, they'd restock snacks and drinks in our room, and we could choose what we wanted, which was a great touch.
The sunsets were beautiful, but if you're serious about sunset photos, I'd recommend Tanjung Aru; it's more photogenic there.
We originally booked the Garden Wing but got upgraded to the Ocean Wing. The Ocean Wing was quiet with fewer people, whereas the Garden Wing was much too crowded.
For breakfast, I ate at the Ocean Wing on the first day. It was mainly à la carte with fewer options at the buffet. The second day, I tried the Garden Wing; it was packed with people, but they had more buffet variety. However, replenishment wasn't always timely, and the coffee machine was a bit slow to respond, taking ages to get going.
The food and drinks at the Sampan Sunset Bar were a bit pricey, and the cocktails weren't particularly good. I'd recommend sticking to beer there, but the ambiance was amazing for photos.
The bathtub wasn't perfectly clean, which I can understand since some small leaves tend to drift in. It's best to rinse it out yourself before using it.
The 4 PM late check-out was incredibly thoughtful and convenient!!!!! They also provide shuttle service to the airport or city malls.
Overall, the experience was great. The service and facilities are definitely worth the price.

GGuest UserFacilities: The facilities are a bit old, but that's to be expected given the age of the hotel.
Hygiene: The hygiene is very good.
Environment: The room is spacious enough for two adults and two children.
Service: The service was very enthusiastic.
Booked through Ctrip, and the hotel didn't charge an extra deposit!!!
We had a great time playing! Definitely go with a tour group – my broken English made things really difficult!

CCharleenLThis is our second time staying in 2 months.
We had an upgraded room for our booking this time. Absolutely love the big room. It’s a one room studio with all the amenities.
Only downside is the pillows are too big and hard for sleeping. Requested to change, and they managed to get a thinner one. Not perfect but better. Hope the management of this hotel look into the pillows provided. All of our friends had the same complaints about the pillow.

LLuosifenxiaojieI usually don't write reviews, but this time I have to praise the Kota Kinabalu Marriott. Even before checking in, I received an email from Adrian who was very attentive to our flight details and special requests, offering great convenience. The room was really nice, though I forgot to take a picture of my favorite vanity mirror and the solid wood sliding door separating the spaces. The room decor felt very high-quality, clean, and comfortable. I'd seen mixed reviews on Xiaohongshu before my stay, but I ended up loving it myself – it truly exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was from 7-11 AM, so as a late riser, I practically turned it into brunch. Plus, the restaurant view was absolutely stunning, as shown in the picture. Every time we took a taxi back to the hotel, a concierge would quickly come to open the door and greet us, which was a nice touch 👍. I didn't get to use the gym or the pool 🏊♀️, but the rooftop bar had good prices and decent drinks 👍. #HotelAesthetic #HotelLover
Any downsides are pretty objective, but no hotel in Kota Kinabalu can escape the airplane noise ✈️, given how small the city is.
For those staying at the Marriott, I'd recommend eating out at Gaya Street (about 10 RMB by taxi) at Chinese restaurants, etc. I wouldn't recommend the night market to the right of the hotel entrance (it's a Malaysian gathering spot).

GGuest UserThe room was very spacious, and the location was absolutely fantastic, close to all the attractions. Plus, it was an absolutely stunning sea-view room overlooking the bay. Being on the 24th floor, we could even see the Pink Mosque, the Floating Mosque, and Mount Kinabalu, which was really nice. The online service was also excellent; the service attendant, Aqilah, was very patient in helping us with various issues and even provided free luggage storage. We were very satisfied with the service!
