Excellent housekeeping service! The room was impeccably clean, fresh, and well-maintained throughout my stay. The housekeeping staff especially Selvianah Albar, showed great attention to detail and professionalism. Their dedication made my stay truly comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you for the outstanding service!

The room was great, definitely on par with a 5-star hotel in China. They even had Chinese power strips in the room, so no need for an adapter, which was super convenient. I highly recommend this hotel, it's a really good one.

The location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk from Gaya Street and a 5-minute walk from the durian market (the durian night market is only open on weekends and gets really lively at night – remember to bargain!).
Drawbacks: The room decor is a bit dated (though still clean); the floor-to-ceiling glass door doesn't open at all, so there's no ventilation (see picture 1). For rooms on the 5th floor and below, please pay special attention: #If you plan to stay here, be sure to request a room with an openable window at the front desk.

Pros:
Location: It's not in the busiest area, but the main attractions are within walking distance.
Room: My 8th-floor room faced the river, offering a peaceful environment and a beautiful sunrise view in the morning. The room came with a basic kitchen and utensils, allowing for cooking. There's also a pool and gym available on the 4th floor.
Customer Service: The customer service was quick to respond to issues like internet problems, and providing bottled water and toilet paper. However, items I asked staff to deliver to my room (like bottled water) were significantly delayed. Self-check-in was convenient, and no deposit was required.
Suggestions:
Provide bottled water upon check-in (my friend, who booked an SCSP apartment with another company, had 10 bottles already in their room upon arrival).
Add clearer instructions for the hot water switch in the bathroom (I had to ask customer service to find out where it was).
Room cleanliness needs improvement; the sofa was dusty. I suggest arranging for cleaning during longer stays.

There's road construction downstairs, which made the hotel feel more like a standard domestic inn. The upside is it's right next to a large mall, so shopping is convenient. Everything else was just so-so, including the sea view, which was also mediocre, and the windows were dirty, obscuring the view.
Hotel was ok for the money. It looked like it had seen better days. The staff were pleasant. The bedding and towels were grey and the carpet had many dirty marks. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t seen a thorough clean in years. There was a kettle but no tea or coffee. In summary it was ok for an overnight stay on the way to the airport but definitely wouldn’t stay any longer.

The location is pretty good, right at the northernmost end of Gaya Street, next to the Hyatt, Suria Sabah, and the Atkinson Clock Tower. There's a rooftop pool with four lounge chairs and a small bar. The room was a bit small with an inward-facing window, so it was just okay. I didn't dare drink the tap water. It's suitable for a one-night layover when you first arrive, but a resort is definitely more comfortable for a relaxing vacation.

Very well located place, just next to jesselton harbor and Gaya Street. We had a problem in the first day because hour apartment with double bed wasn't available and we need to stay the first night in an apartment with twin beds and without wash machine (which was included on apartment booked). From second night we could move to the apartment booked. It was clean but is old and not so wellantained, the place also don't have enough equipments (we needed to ask for pan and pots, since the only one provided was unable to use, also wasn't provide enough cutlery). But the place is near to the most attractions by walking distance and have the essentials to stay for a short time.

AAnonymous UserIf you are in the area to visit the KKIP industrial zone, the Klagen Regency is perfectly positioned. It is located quite a distance from the main town center, which may seem remote at first, but it is a strategic advantage if you want to avoid a long daily commute to your work sites.
The hotel itself is impressively well-kept. It’s clear that management prioritizes maintenance, as the rooms and common areas feel fresh and clean. The service is equally commendable; the staff are helpful and ensure a smooth, professional experience from check-in to check-out.
Sorry I does not have the photo of the room because I am there for a business meeting but the room is okay to stay. Buffet Breakfast is good, also you can find very nice local food with walking distance .
AAnonymous UserI recommend booking directly on the Shangri-La official website, as this site is just an agent and not a partnership between Trip.com and Shangri-La. The room view I was given was particularly bad, and I booked this hotel specifically to watch the sunset. The front desk was very slow; I had to wait a long time to check in. Even though it was only 15 minutes before 3 PM, they wouldn't give me the room key early; I had to wait until after 3 PM. When I opened the door to my room, there was a staff member inside, which really startled me! She had closed the door and was doing something in the room; you wouldn't have known anyone was in there if the door hadn't been opened. She left only after she saw us enter the room. The breakfast, however, was plentiful and the most satisfying part of my stay. I hope the hotel improves its service.
GGuest UserOverall, I'm quite satisfied. The room was spacious, and the hotel is located right by the pier. There was dedicated staff to handle luggage, though the facilities are definitely outdated and the room had a strange odor. The service was decent, but the front desk really helped us out of a bind when an unexpected situation arose on our way back.

Great
NNicola1974The hotel and grounds are stunning! Beautiful pools and nice beach. The hotel room (Garden superior) was nice- with a big balcony. Water, coffee, insect repellant etc was refilled daily which was a nice touch. Daily cleaning was wonderful. The breakfast was perfect - Western and local choices- but trying to get coffee was terrible- long queues and unreliable coffee machines. Most days I skipped it and bought coffee from the pool bar. Happy hour 4-6pm daily is great with regular entertainment- fire shows and tribal dancing. Bar prices are obviously very high - £45 for a bottle of cheap wine. The biggest problem with this hotel is very slow service (hard working staff but not enough to serve the guests) The staff work super long hours so I felt bad complaining when I was waiting 45 mins for drinks each day. Also, all the restaurants stop serving food around 9.30pm then everywhere closes around 10.30pm which means the evenings can be quite boring- especially when there’s nowhere else to go as the hotel is far from anywhere. The spa is overpriced but I enjoyed my facial and hot oil treatment. My last gripe is the hotel day trips- absolutely appalling. The hotel is affiliated with Sabah travel company- poor communication, poor service, hugely overpriced and generally very bad. I recommend booking day trips through Trip.com instead of through the hotel. Allen the hotel supervisor was amazing trying to sort out the fiasco and I’m grateful- but I wasn’t offered a refund or compensation which is disappointing. I wanted to leave a poor review on the Sabah Travel’s website but they removed my booking so it wasn’t possible. I’d stay at this hotel again as the price is fairly reasonable but it def falls below the usual Shangri-la standards.

AAnonymous UserThe room was old, very small, and the soundproofing was terrible, making it hard to sleep. On top of that, the window couldn't be opened, leading to a strong, unpleasant musty smell inside. They don't provide bottled water; you have to get it yourself from the hallway. If these things bother you, think twice before booking.

AAnonymous UserWe booked a renovated room, supposedly from 2 years ago, but when we arrived at 6 PM, they told us there were no rooms on the second floor, only on the first. They assured us it was the 'best room,' but as soon as we entered, there was a strong musty smell, and the hairdryer sounded like it was about to explode. After watching the sunset and having dinner, we returned to find the room getting hotter and hotter. We then realized the air conditioning was broken. It took three calls to finally get through to the front desk. The maintenance worker spent half an hour trying to fix it with no progress, and then told us we'd have to switch rooms. During all this, the room was incredibly stuffy and hot, almost unbearable. The front desk kept apologizing but only offered an extended checkout or a ride to the city the next day, and we had to decide on the spot what time we wanted to leave. This 'sorry' attitude was really disappointing and quite unbelievable.
The funniest part was that the room they moved us to was on the second floor – the very floor they said had no availability earlier. It was clean, no musty smell, and not hot at all. It makes you wonder who they were saving those rooms for, or if they were discriminating against us.
The hotel environment itself is beautiful and very photogenic, with lots of free and paid activities. Feeding the monitor lizards was fun. However, the front desk's attitude and their handling of issues were consistently poor. Exercise caution if you decide to stay here.
Also, we heard the hotel restaurants aren't great. We ate at the sunset bar, which was enough to fill us up, but you can't order takeout.
