We checked in the hotel at 3 PM parking our rental car straight from airport no stops to their parking. Which is a lot behind the guard booth with the gate that goes down and up by a security guard who questions and then allows you on the property and tells you where to park. The night we check in our air-conditioning goes out. It’s mid 80s at night with a tropical storm pouring rain. So we had to **** all doors & windows, meaning zero air flow. Next morning we go downstairs and tell them of the problem. They sent 2 different teams of people to fix it to no success. We advised him we will be leaving the property and when we come back later this afternoon if it wasn’t fixed we were ok with changing the room. We walk out to our car to our surprise was damaged in the parking lot. Not by a car but looks like a cart or something hit it. There is an employee/work entrance where I saw all types equipment being carried between cars yo the door. Wise they will look at their cameras. Come to find out that the cameras do not face their parking lot on their property. Even though there is a bar, a restaurant and an employee entrance and work area entrance. Their told us cameras on face the security booth to let you into the parking lot and the front of the hotel. Returning to the hotel and changing our rooms from a king-size bed to a queen size bed which is a $40 difference tonight. That was not refunded back to us, so we were charged for a more expensive room that we were in one night. The 2nd and last night in the second room we noticed the floor was completely wet in the bathroom and figured maybe they had mopped before we came in. We were wrong also wrong. We dried the floor and later that night going to the bathroom both of us nearly fell to the ground because the floor was soaked again. The roof was leaking. Not in one location but all over. The queen size bed mattress was broken literally broken down. To the point if you were within 3 inches to 4 inches away from the edge of the bed the mattress would just roll you off the bed. That morning we informed them will be checking out of the hotel due to one night at a room with no air conditioning, Iour rental car was damage on their property and then taking no accountability, and the third night let’s just call it a wet room with a broken bed. They refunded the other four nights we had scheduled, but would like to give us back the difference for charging us for emergency room the one night. Seven restaurants on their property however we couldn’t get guacamole and took over 1hour 30 minutes to figure out they have frijoles. I asked for a manager everyday as I know the people working the counter we’re not able to fix these issues. We weren’t able to have a conversation until 1 week later after calling daily. This provider gave me $15 worth of credits for my troubles. WOW way to make your customers fell appreciated🏆

Secrets Huatulco Resort and Spa

The location and views from the hotel are amazing; however, it is far from being a 5 star luxury hotel, let alone a 4 diamond hotel. The hotel lacks maintenance, the seats in the Mexican restaurant are disgusting (forgot to take more photos) but that's not even the worst of it. My evaluation is based on the quality of the food and drinks...and at least 50% of the recent reviews agree with me. The drinks are of the worst quality, the cheapest. There is only one choice of each type, even tequila and mezcal (being in Oaxaca!). Any vinegar is better than the wine they offer, unless you buy a bottle at 3 times the original price. Even with Club Preferred, you can't find slightly better drinks available at all the bars, unbelievable! The Oriental restaurant is a joke, the quality of the food horrible. They sell you many restaurants and in the four nights I stayed there, they never opened the one specializing in seafood, to give an example. The seafood in the other restaurants is another joke: only ”Dorado” and ”Tilapia” fish, the cheapest in the whole ocean. The rest of the food is OK but not at the level of quality that ”Secrets” sells you. There was one day I couldn't even find ice cream in the whole hotel and not to mention the quality of the coffee: I like Espresso and the taste of the coffee was horrible. The line for the breakfast buffet was always huge. Last two days, they opened a second temporary breakfast buffet and it was really bad with limited options. Don't pay for a luxury hotel because it is NOT. First and last time at the Secrets chain. On the other hand, the staff was very friendly, working all the time and helpful.
Hotel Marina Resort & Beach Club

Marina Resort & Beach Club is AMAZING. This place is in a prime location close to everything in town. It's across the street from Bahia de Santa Cruz, 10 min walk to ”El Centro” (downtown), and a short drive to everything else. It has a beach club with high-end views of the marina, delicious food, and drinks. Cabo, Cancun, and Acapulco have nothing on this place. This is a hidden gem that will make you regret not visiting sooner. The staff is friendly and extremely attentive. We could not be happier with their hospitality. A five-star resort without the cost. The resort fees include an outstanding breakfast. I highly recommend their molletes. We stayed in room 522 which has spectacular views of the ocean to the left, the pool in the center, and the lush mountains to the right. Million-dollar views, for sure! We highly recommend this place. As I mentioned earlier, the only regret you will have is not visiting sooner;) Thank you to all the amazing staff, especially Max who went the extra mile to make our stay that much more enjoyable even when we thought there wasn't anything left to fulfill. All expectations- were exceeded. Fondly, Claudia and Melecio

Las Brisas Huatulco
4.3/5101 Reviews
We spent the week of April 16 - 23 at Las Brisas. All I can say is wow! We've been to Mexico many times and we found our week here to be the most enjoyable so far. This was our first time in Huatulco and we have fallen in love with the area. The airport is small, easy to navigate and wasn't busy when we arrived or departed. Another bonus is that the hotel is only about 25 minutes from the airport. Our last trip was to Cancun and this experience was so much less stressful! We loved that the resort is large and spread out. We like to walk so only shuttled when we had our luggage. We found walking the path was wonderful. We especially enjoyed it at the end of our evening, heading back to our room. It's all lit up and looks so pretty. There are lots of stairs in the hotel itself which could be a bit tricky for anyone with mobility issues, but the exercise was an added bonus for us. The shuttles are moving constantly and when we called for them to come get us and our luggage the last day he was there practically before I hung up the phone. The food was so good! I had read some reviews when I first booked earlier in the year that were a bit worrisome so we were very pleasantly surprised. We met lots of other guests who felt the same way. We heard no complaints from anyone we talked to. We booked the Brisas Beach Club Suite and thoroughly enjoyed the included perks! We had a lovely room with a balcony and a stunning view. We were able to book all the specialty restaurants. We did all but one but we will do that one next time. We hadn't planned to have breakfast in the lounge but popped in the second day to check it out and decided to give it a try. It was wonderful and we ate there every morning. Our server was Nancy and she was amazing. She had our mimosas and coffee to us as soon as we walked in. We also went back in the early evening for happy hour. We thought it was worth the extra cost and will for sure go that route again. The bars were great, especially the one by the beach next to the towel hut. My husband thought that Oliderio at the beach bar made the best drinks we've had at any resort. And so fun to talk to. All the staff we encountered were wonderful. We were loyal to another resort chain and hesitant to try something new because of the free upgrades and other perks. But we're very happy we decided to give Las Brisas Huatulco a chance. We will be back!
