The hotel is really clean and all staff are very friendly. It is just a 5mins walk to nearest train station and 8mins walk to the kokusai shopping steet for tourists. The rooms are big and spacious. We also loves the free flow of coffee and tea and ice cream (all day long), orion beer and wine (10am to 10pm) and also not forgetting the yummy ramen between 8.30pm to 9.30pm everyday. Also loves their breakfast it is really worth the price paid! We will definitely come back to this hotel again and highly recommend everybody to stay here to witness the hospitality for yourself!
Excellent value! It's super convenient to get around, with a bus stop right outside the hotel, and a taxi ride from Naha city center isn't far at all. Getting to the airport only takes about 10-15 minutes by car. The ocean view private onsen room offered an absolutely stunning view! The hot spring water was great too, with a subtle sulfur smell. I also tried the public large bath once, which was also excellent, featuring standing baths, a sauna, and a salt room. While the breakfast selection wasn't huge, it had a lot of authentic Okinawan specialties. We also had a birthday dinner there, choosing both the Wagyu sukiyaki and Wagyu yakiniku sets, and both were incredibly delicious. They even surprised me with a birthday cake! The room was also spacious. All in all, I was extremely satisfied.
This might just be the best hotel in Okinawa. At just over 600 a night, it offers incredible value for money, with no downsides except that you absolutely need a rental car. It's about an hour's drive to Naha city center and roughly an hour and a half to Cape Hedo, the northernmost tip of the island.
The rooms are brand new and remarkably spacious, especially for Japan. Even better:
♨️ The onsen on the second floor is spacious and pristine, featuring hot and cold plunge pools, a sauna, and it's often so quiet you might have it all to yourself.
🏖️ The rooms boast unparalleled ocean views, and it's just a five-minute stroll to a secluded, virtually empty beach.
While the hotel's French restaurant requires reservations, the friendly front desk staff recommended a fantastic, affordable restaurant just a ten-minute drive away. Oh, and the front desk staff also spoke excellent English.
I took bus 143 from Naha Bus Terminal to the American Village (it was the last stop for this bus, not sure where the actual last stop is) and walked for about 10 minutes to reach the hotel. Since it was before check-in time, I waited in the lobby, where complimentary drinks and cookies were available. The front desk staff were very enthusiastic and helped us store our luggage first; the service was excellent. After checking in, we were given an upgraded room, much larger than what we had booked, which was fantastic! American Village at night is beautiful and definitely worth staying for a night.
It is convenient to reach the resort via express bus from Naha Bus Terminal or from the airport. Bus 117 goes directly to the resort front lobby, a 2.5 hours Bus ride as we did not drive. Once you alighted from the bus, you are greeted by the emerald-coloured sea, made me felt so relaxed and worth the bus ride. The room is big and overlooked the sea, I can sit at the balcony and enjoy the view with a cup of tea all day long. The resort is within the Ocean Expo Park, so can just walk to the Okinawa Chutaumi Aquarium and the various sites. The Emerald beach is right in front of the resort and can just walk over after breakfast to enjoy the cool sea breeze and sea water. We will definitely stay at this resort again if we come back to okinawa again.

Decently sized room. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. It’s a good place to stay if you have rented your own car. Carpark for 1700yen per day. In its lobby there is a Familymart so and a souvenir store so overall it’s a convenient place!
Didn’t get a chance to really explore its amenities as I’m out most of the days, but I would recommend for its price!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, especially because of the spa facilities. The spa includes a sauna, a pool, an onsen, a cold bath, showers, and everything is very clean and well-maintained. A special mention goes to the fact that the spa is tattoo-friendly for both men and women. I have three medium-sized tattoos on my arms and saw other women who were even more tattooed than me — it was never an issue. I double-checked at the front desk, and they confirmed that tattoos are accepted. I'm highlighting this because I saw some other reviews saying the spa wasn't tattoo-friendly, but that was not my experience at all.
The only downside I found is that the rooms are a bit noisy — you can easily hear what's going on in the hallways throughout the day, which is unfortunate. Also, the hotel is not exactly close to the city center; it's about a 15–20 minute walk.
Other than that, I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for the spa! Oh, and the bathrooms are nice haha!

Don't expect the front desk to know any English, bring your own translator. The room is equipped with air conditioning and an air purifier, but the air outlet of the air conditioner blows towards the head. Although the room is equipped with a stove, no cooking utensils are provided. The overall hotel experience is OK, you get what you pay for, and it's very close to Kokusai-dori on foot.
Environment: Every room offers a sea view. My kids had a blast collecting shells and coral on the hotel's private beach. There's a path leading to the sea with a warning sign; it would make for great photos on a nice day.
Facilities: When I booked, I chose the option for a free extra bed for the child. I was initially worried the hotel might be old, but it seems to have been renovated as all the facilities are new and very clean. There's a coin-operated laundry room on the first floor for washing and drying. The indoor swimming pool and hot springs require an additional fee for guests, but the price is quite reasonable, and the hot springs are very comfortable.
Service: It was my husband's birthday, and you can pre-order a cake from the hotel three days in advance. A 4-inch cake was 3500 yen, which was a reasonable price, and it tasted great! All the staff were very kind and polite.
Overall, even though it was winter, it was uncrowded and comfortable. We had a wonderful weekend!
The room amenities are quite basic. There's a wooden hook on the wall as you enter, but no regular coat rack in an entryway. The shower pressure isn't strong. When you go out to the balcony to enjoy the view, it's best to close the door because there are lots of bugs and birds (crows) that will fly in. Definitely bring enough clothes and don't plan on doing laundry. I rinsed my swimsuit and hung it on the balcony to dry. In just a short while, a crow flew by and pooped on the balcony chair and my swimsuit. I wasn't sure if bird droppings carry diseases, so I had to throw it away. You can tell the ecosystem is really thriving! After dinner, when I'd walk around the hotel grounds, I'd always get bitten by bugs – it felt very much like being in the countryside. There are no convenience stores nearby, and it's best not to go out after 6 or 7 PM; it gets too dark, and the cawing of the crows makes it quite eerie. It's best to eat all three meals at the hotel. There's very little storage space in the room! It's suitable for solo travelers or for an occasional one-night stay.
Important note: During my stay this time (July), the bathroom constantly felt like it was swaying, like being on a boat. I wonder if it was an earthquake!
All the facilities like the pool, table tennis, and various other entertainment options are chargeable, so you can decide based on your needs. There's a hot spring nearby, but the shower only dispenses water for a short while after you press the button. So, when you're showering, you have to hold the showerhead with one hand and keep pressing the button with the other. Talk about saving water! This is something they could really learn from Japan! As soon as you enter the hotel, from the lobby to the room, you'll notice that musty, decades-old hotel smell. If you like vintage scents, you might enjoy it.

LLL_masLocated most east coast of Okinawa, it is an adventure journey for those who like adventures. Much rural but the scenic drive really worth it. Better travel by day time instead of night. Road is narrow and windings

GGuest User. Halekulani Okinawa is an outstanding resort that delivers exactly what you expect from the brand: impeccable service, exceptional comfort, and a deep sense of calm.
The service is flawless—attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful without ever feeling intrusive. The rooms are extremely comfortable, beautifully designed, and perfectly suited for a slow, restorative stay. The surrounding nature is stunning, and the resort feels well integrated into its landscape, which adds a lot to the overall experience.
We stayed in December, and despite it being winter, the atmosphere was still incredibly pleasant and charming. The main pool does not operate in winter, but honestly, it doesn’t feel like a drawback at all—there is so much more to the property than the pool.
Breakfast deserves a special mention: it is excellent, with high-quality ingredients and great variety. I highly recommend trying breakfast in different restaurants during your stay, as each offers a slightly different experience.
Overall, Halekulani Okinawa is a refined, serene, and beautifully executed resort. A perfect choice for those who value comfort, service, and atmosphere over loud entertainment—even in the winter season.
BButterchocolateyStayed for 1 night at the hotel and everything was perfect. Feeling welcomed at the door with the staff greeting us and checking with our booking, followed by a welcome matcha and mochi then the check-in procedures. Since we booked the plan with dinner and breakfast, we got the time to enjoy the public bath area before heading to the restaurant for a scrumptious dinner, with sunset as the backdrop.
Breakfast on the next day is also a pleasant surprise with the Japanese set breakfast and free flow on pancakes that you can make on your own at the pancake machine, which is a satisfying if you crave for a taste of Western style breakfast. I would love to stay in this hotel again when revisiting Okinawa next time!
GGuest UserThere are so many fun activities in the hotel. If you stay for three nights in the off-season, you will get free lunch. You can also participate in paid activities at a discount. It is a paradise for children. This year, it feels like the off-season is not off-season. All rooms are fully booked. Fortunately, the weather is good. Everything is worth it.
