"This family-style hotel opened in 1981. Almost everyone in the city knows it. It costs less than 100 RMB to take a taxi from the Jr Station. The male owner is open-minded, which is rare among Japanese people. He drinks with guests. He used to raise horses and sheep. As they got older, he sold them little by little. There are only a few left scattered on the hillside. He will close the business in two or three years. Although the business is good, there are a constant stream of guests and the room is often full. I added breakfast, which is a bit rough, but isn't this what the countryside should look like? There are also many Chinese people who come to stay. It's nice to stay in a clean farmhouse in Hokkaido for a short stay."

"The hotel is a good choice if you are looking for something better than a basic business hotel. While the rooms are compact, the hotel offers additional services like onsen baths, free coffee and ramen, and even laundry is free (there's a charge for dryers though) which levels up your stay from your ordinary lodging experience. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful too. That said, the onsen bath smelt slightly of chlorine, suggesting that disinfectant might have been added to the water. While it was probably beneficial in terms of sanitation, the bathing experience might be affected."

"The location is convenient, halfway between the main train station and most of the eateries and bus stops, which are in the main town area. As for the hotel, it’s true Japanese style with no private showers, instead a Japanese-style public bath is on offer. My room was tatami-floored and had the futon prepared for me. The room was just a space with 4 walls, window, TV, small fridge and table. There’s no private toilet, you have to walk out to the hallway to use it, so you have to lock your room door and bring the key with you. Something worth noting is that there are only two power outlets in the room. It’s fine for a one night stay and if you’re looking off a more Japanese experience, this is an alright option."

"Pros: Excellent location; the upgraded room at Konoza was even more spacious and beautiful, with a stunning open-air bathroom garden. The food quality was very high, and the all-you-can-eat ice cream was a big plus. Two young women stood outside the door at check-out, bowing and waving to every departing guest, showing the hotel's dedication to its operations. Cons: Dinner was a buffet, which was a bad sign. When it was time to eat, a long queue formed at the door. Inside, I was shocked to find three tour guides from different countries loudly instructing their groups to grab the "good deals." Breakfast the next day was similarly chaotic; although the food quality was still good, there was a sense of frantic grabbing. Suggestions: If a buffet is the only option, at least provide designated seating areas. Most guests come here for peace and quiet."
