"The hotel is old and very dated - carpets were very worn, 1980's vintage TV in my small single room (that I couldn't get to work properly!), altogether it lacked any charm or appeal. But the prices were very good value for a one-night stay - £35 for Bed and Breakfast. It did "what it says on the tin" - providing a clean soft (but comfortable) bed and a 6-item breakfast with juice, coffee plus toast and jam. My room wasn't en-suite - as the price suggests! A unisex small cubicle toilet is upstairs with a faulty lock - a nuisance. The shower worked - piping hot water. It was OK for one night, but I wouldn't stay for longer unless you are on a tight budget. Some other places nearby are much more expensive."

"Stopped off at this great establishment on route for holidays. Staff really friendly and helpful. Lunch was served with a smile and nothing was to much trouble. Well behaved dogs welcome. A great place for locals and visitors alike Helen has been unwell for sometime, hopefully she will be feeling better soon. Parking available. True gem in the rallies."

"Breakfast didn't start until 8 and service was slow. We were told by the company organising our trip that packed lunches were available from the hotel, but when we enquired, we were told we would need to go into the town - about a mile round trip! The next result was that we did not have time for this before our prebooked taxi turned up. We also had to walk into town each evening for a meal, although we were told that evening meals might be available. After a long tiring walk from Dufton it would have been great to have been able to eat at Lowbyer Manor."

"Cheap and cheerful, though stuck in the 80s. Everything could do with a face-lift, but the rooms were clean, bed comfy, and breakfast great. The host was very friendly, and I was not expecting a Chinese lady to be running the place. Because we booked well ahead, I don't think you'll find a cheaper B&B."
