Monte Mare Sauna-Spa-Sports-Hotel ★★★★

📍 Klingelswiese 1, Andernach

"Excellent option to get in car and take the hotel as a base to see the valley of the mosela. Free parking. Correct rooms and a magnificent bed. Best: The size of the rooms, bed and tranquility of the area. The most bad thing: breakfast and that was a day when "they forgot" cleaning our room."

"We stayed with you for three days as guests from Les Amis. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. The room was quite warm, and unfortunately the air conditioning didn’t work very well, which made it a bit uncomfortable at times. The service, however, was friendly and welcoming. One of the highlights for us was receiving the miso soup we had wished for that really made us happy, and we appreciate that very much. There was one staff member who seemed a bit off on the first day and again the next afternoon when serving drinks and during breakfast. The egg dishes were delayed, and she didn’t take the coffee order right away. But soon after, another service staff member came by and kindly asked us about our wishes and thanks to her, we received the soup. We are very grateful for that. Reception was excellent friendly, helpful, and always approachable. We definitely plan to return. I’d like to send my warmest regards to the kitchen team also Paul, Ramin, and Sophia. Thank you for your hospitality!"

Hotel am Martinsberg ★★★

📍 Frankenstraße 6, Andernach

"We booked this trip as a gift for our in-laws – unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Upon arrival and room allocation, we were surprised to find ourselves put in the basement. The so-called comfort room didn't resemble the pictures on the website at all. The view of the parking lot was uninviting, and the cleanliness left much to be desired. The family room was an abomination: dirty furniture, cobwebs, a huge cardboard box right in front of the window, a view of the parking lot, and piles of junk. The bathroom was dirty, unhygienic, and badly worn – shower, bathtub, toilet, sink – all in poor condition. Luckily, our children are no longer crawling babies, because that would have been truly unacceptable. In addition, there was a constant gurgling noise in the bathroom whenever appliances were running on the floor above. The basement hallway, with its open doors to storage and pantry rooms, was anything but inviting. The only positive aspect was the breakfast – it was nicely presented and regularly replenished. However, most of the dishes were damaged, which could be dangerous, especially for children. We've stayed in many different accommodations – hotels, apartments, hostels, vacation rentals – but we've never felt so uncomfortable. We find it particularly disappointing that there has been no response to our feedback. We wanted to give the establishment a chance to address our criticism before sharing our experience publicly. In short: excellent location and friendly staff, but the room quality, cleanliness, and value for money are nowhere near what's advertised on the website."

"The design of the room is absolutely fantastic. To stay in this beautiful Ambiente is real fun! The hotel is nicely located in the center of the city a d the rooms are still really quite besides the required sounds of church bells. The breakfast is of wood quality and provide a reasonable variation. The staff are professional and very friendly. Overall I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel!"

"The house is really very beautiful and maintained. Also the outdoor facilities are very beautifully constructed. Unfortunately it is very noisy in the main house and the guests do not keep the rest zone. It is very loud and attention to other guests is not taken. You can't come to rest here, which is really very bad. The staff does not do anything to ensure rest. Very bad, because relaxation is not really possible."

"Amazing helpful staff who kindly gave us a tour of the property and described the history. Comfortable, clean rooms and the food for breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We stayed two nights and it was great to stroll around the river and visit the historical sites. Would love to stay here again!"

"Here are my comments on this hotel's online advertisement. Room service! I didn't see/notice any cleaning service! ATM? Laundry? Lounge/Bar? Grills? Restaurant (Yes, this hotel has at least one on-site restaurant that you can enjoy during your stay. If you prefer to enjoy your meals in the comfort of your room, room service is also available.) Toiletries, free coffee and tea until 7 pm, free fresh seasonal fruit, a bottle of mineral water, welcome drink, high-speed Wi-Fi internet – all lies/untruths. The porter was only present intermittently, the internet access code had to be asked for/begged for, at first I thought the Wi-Fi only worked in the breakfast room, but it kept dropping out there too – I had no reception in my room (in the middle)! Unacceptable for guests – I couldn't organize anything for my stay. I have a very different understanding of what a hotel should be. It's advertised as a RESIDENCE – a youth hostel is a more accurate description – like a workers' dorm! I had a double room, and the bed already filled the space. I've never seen such a small toilet and shower – even in Italy and Greece, they're bigger! The sink was tiny, the toilet filled the small space, and the shower, with its split glass panels, was incredibly cramped – you could barely turn around. The step-in was very high! Water flooded everywhere in the "bathroom." Everything was rotten and rusty, the guide rails had been replaced with silicone, and the REWE toilet seat fitting was awful. The recessed radiators had been painted at some point and never cleaned, dusted, or washed again; dirt was pooling at the bottom. The built-in soap dispenser was also nice – it WAS EMPTY – no soap, no shower gel, and no spare toilet paper roll. The furniture was quite elaborate but hadn't been worn much. There were marks on the wardrobe wall that could be professionally removed – if someone wanted to. The walls were smeared, scratched, and dirty, and the corners were worn despite the edge protectors. The cheap imitation leather bed frame had a ripped back. I didn't know if the bed linen had been ironed or had already been used. The area under the bed hadn't been wiped. The "hotel" door was made of papier-mâché—I've never seen anything so cheap. You could hear every step in the hallway. There was no air conditioning (and no refrigerator). Breakfast cost extra; there was no fruit, no yogurt except for natural plasters, and no orange juice. The selection was very, very limited! On the first day, all the plates had chipped edges. On the second day, they used second-hand plates. The only good thing about breakfast was that the refrigerators were only a small amount of food, and they had to be refilled after each person. The dishes were cleared, but the tables weren't wiped—thankfully, I was always early. I have no idea if there was any cleaning staff employed, but they..."

"Beautiful hotel room in Andernach. Several windows that can be opened for fresh air. Good fresh breakfast with delicious German bread. Tip: put a kettle in the room. There is also no mini-fridge in the room."

"The hotel is perfectly located to the promenade. It is modern and actually very nice with all kinds of art objects. The rooms are large and if you don't want to stay here anymore, it offers a good comfort. Unfortunately no longer. You need to look for deposit facilities for clothing, there is not much more in the toilet besides a roll of toilet paper. The shower is large, but somehow a fault design. Breakfast is OK and there is also a good choice, only would be a better quality for the sausage (are hard like shoe soils) and the breads (broods)."
