"Complete delight) Starting from the staff who greeted us at the entrance to the hotel. I didn’t want to leave at all, but we were able to book only for one day; there were no villas available for other dates. The general manager met us and we had a personal assistant. Everything is so beautiful, rooms with a private courtyard are more private than those with access to the sea. The interior is very stylish, a cool area for tea and a shower outside, and the most important thing is the presence of a bathroom) In the main building there is an area for working on a computer and a children's area - an incredibly beautiful room. There are many photo zones on the beach, there is a bar near the pool, and waiters serve drinks. The breakfast is perfect, the presentation and the dishes themselves are top class. We liked the dinner, we ordered a dish from the chef, it depends on the catch that day. We had lobsters. Everywhere they give compliments - coconuts upon arrival, shrimp by the pool, detox drinks for breakfast, etc. We travel a lot, but this particular hotel has sunk into our hearts. Probably, it’s also a matter of emotional attitude towards each guest. The general manager, Umberto, an Italian, accompanied us along with the rest of the staff. We'll definitely come back again."

"This hotel has lagoon-front on two sides. A small side road leads to the hotel where it ends. Therefore there is no traffic, making it very quiet – which is nice for Batticola. If you get a room on the top floor you will have a nice view. There are tables/chairs in the garden along the lagoon to hang out with friends. They also seem to have conference facilities. We ate dinner at the restaurant which was very tasty. The rooms were spacious, well furnished and clean. Wifi, quiet AC and kettle to make tea/coffee are available. The bathroom was large with a separate shower (not a given in Sri Lanka). We stayed two nights and felt very comfortable."

"This house / boutique hotel is quite simply stunning with beautiful expansive views of the ocean. I would like to keep it to myself but feel compelled to tell everyone about it and to say that it is worth a stop whatever your final destination on the east coast of Sri Lanka. The staff are kind and attentive and their attention to detail is second to none. The young chef cooked the most tasty food. We had Sri Lankan curries including a first class crab curry and lots of vegetable side dishes. All were excellent. There is nothing to fault here. You will not be disappointed and like us you will not want to leave. Thank you to all the staff."

Clean rooms , Clean bathroom with bath tub , clean swimming pool , Moonlit beach experience. Beach is just 5 steps away from the hotel. Everything about the hotel is just 10/10. The staffs will make sure that you enjoy your stay completely. Babu supervisor , Ajeeth manager , Pavi cook + auto driver , Neroshan helper , Darshini and Ronshini cleaners..all of them did an amazing job to make our stay enjoyable. All of them are very very helpful , cooperative, supportive and hospitable. 10/10 Pavi makes very delicious food for the guest. Indian, Sri Lankan, English breakfast options are available. A la carte menu is available for lunch dinner snacks. Alcoholic drinks are also available. Food quantity is more than enough. One person cannot finish the food, they give huge quantity. We witnessed fresh fish buying from the beach fishermen. You may buy fresh fish from there and ask the restaurant staff to cook it for you. No disturbance, Only Peace and Enjoyment. "

"After staying in so many wonderful places, we were a bit disappointed with this hotel. Some rooms have no – absolutely no – ‘sea view’, even though they’re advertised as such. ‘Bush view’ would be a more accurate and fairer description. The rooms are also very awkwardly laid out; anyone walking to the beach can look straight into them. So you just have to draw the curtains, and that’s the end of the ‘sea view’. This only applies to the ground-floor rooms. There’s also a first floor – try to get a room there. We were able to swap from the rooms at the very back to those at the front, which was a significant improvement. The rooms are very basic and the whole complex is showing its age a bit. The staff are really lovely – attentive and always friendly. The complex and the rooms are very clean. The food is average. Overpriced by Sri Lankan standards. However, there are great alternatives outside the hotel. The beach is also absolutely brilliant and very clean, and I think that, despite the shortcomings described, the hotel is one of the best in the area. So, if the rooms were a bit more lovingly decorated, the ‘sea view’ actually offered a sea view, and the staff were looked after properly, then this would be a fantastic place to stay. Its not far off."

I really Loved the food they serve here which is reasonably priced. bar is an added advantage here where you can enjoy your sprits overlooking the lagoon with some tasty seafood snacks. " In Batticaloa, it appears that hotel choices are somewhat limited. I found that The East Lagoon Hotel to be adequate for a few days’ stay. While the room and washroom were clean, the balcony area was a mess. The view from the room was quite nice but the balcony was too narrow and the walls too high to sit and enjoy it. Regardless, sitting down on the balcony was out of the question. I could overlook the cheap plastic chairs, but the fact that they were dirty was disappointing. On a positive note, the staff, particularly the manager, were friendly and helpful. However, we often had to track down a server whenever we visited the bar. The breakfast served was a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast, though it lacked a Western option. I must mention that I was under the impression that the checkout time was 12 pm, as indicated on ***********, and I'm unsure why we had to rush out at 11 am. "

"We visited Kalkudah Beach House as the final stop on our two-week holiday in Sri Lanka and it was without a doubt the highlight of the entire trip. Set next to a beautiful beach and palm-filled lawn, the Beach House is the perfect place for a relaxing end to a holiday. The Beach House has a wonderfully intimate feel. The rooms are excellent, the hotel has all the facilities one could ask for, and the staff are friendly and skilled. A gorgeous, secluded beach is right out your door; we were completely speechless when we arrived. Our absolute highlight was a day trip out to Kumana National Park for a safari that we are still talking about. That said, we didn't need to leave. The pool, games of croquet, and long walks along the beach kept us more than happily occupied. A special mention must go to the chef, Sugath, who is an absolute star. The food was genuinely some of the best we ate across the entire trip. We can't recommend the hoppers (made on request) enough! We were gutted to leave and are already dreaming about going back. We would recommend Kalkudah Beach House without hesitation."

"Our stay at Giman Free Beach Resort was extremely disappointing. The overall condition of the property is poor and does not justify the high price. The rooms were unclean, the TV was not functioning, and the pool was dirty and unusable. Even the access road to the hotel is in very bad condition. The food was also a letdown overpriced for what was offered, with poor quality and small portions. Service was equally disappointing. The management was unresponsive, and the staff came across as unfriendly and unprofessional throughout our stay. A particularly serious concern occurred on our last night when a man fell from the upper floor. The way the staff and management handled the situation was inadequate and alarming, raising significant safety concerns. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel. There are major issues that need urgent improvement."
