"Dear Travellers ! This is truly a mix of luxury and value for money resort. Due to off season we were expecting better pricing but it was not costly for sure. Location is good . They have ample space for parking around 20 + Cars . Good front desk and a beautiful swimming pool. We liked there Mango trees and stone covered romantic sitting space near pool. Restaurent Kiskindha was really nice with attached Bar as well. Good tasty food however few more options can be added in food items. Service was top notch and I really appreciate our conversation with Mr. Maruthi - front desk officer, Mr Prakash, Heena Kausar at restaurant, staffs like darshan ,Viresh and Ramesh helped us to show around the property. Missed to take few more names but all were good. We had good and pleasant stay and would recommend you to visit as well. Thanks and cheers !"

Archana Guest House River View Hotels in Bellary

Archana Guest House River View

"As anyone who has tried to book in line in late 2023 will know, it’s not possible to reserve in advance at any of the remaining guest houses in the village. The reasons for this are unclear but a number of places are still operating on a walk-in basis or via contact on WhatsApp. We therefore made a provisional reservation at a guest house over the river. However, upon arriving from a night bus at 6am we found the ferry now only starts at 8.30am. After a sleepless night on a bumpy bus, a 2 hour plus wait wasn’t what we needed so once it got light I set off into the village to find another room. Archana was the first place I came across via the owners mother who owns a stall outside the guest house. Her son showed me a room and we agreed a price for 3 nights. The room was on the ground floor under the restaurant facing a banana plantation with the river beyond. The room was very small- no room to unpack a bag. It was clean enough and the bed had a good mosquito net. The bathroom had hot (very hot!) water. I would class it as a budget type room by Indian standards. Outside was a pleasant seating area which is communal so was occasionally used by restaurant guests, there was also some flight noise from the restaurant but it’s not a busy late night place. We were glad we stayed here rather than across the river. You are in the heart of the village here so expect all that comes with that- dogs, cows, monkeys etc. The people are friendly though and it’s fine to walk round at night. The main temple and sunset hill is literally 5 minutes walk away. This is not a slick UNESCO packaged experience- it’s an authentic Indian pilgrimage site set amidst stunning scenery. A downside for us was that in the village it’s strictly no alcohol (no tea pot trick!) or meat at present. The other side of the river, I believe, is exempt from that so if those things are important you’re best to stay there. I believe the standard rate for our room was 1800INR per night. That would be expensive in my view but as we were staying for 3 nights/ 4 days I secured a better rate. I’ll try and add the owners number so you can try to contact him on WhatsApp. Otherwise you will need to turn up as a walk-in unless the current situation changes."

WelcomHeritage Shivavilas Palace, Hampi ★★★★
"First, I would like to advise people to go to this area during the monsoon or winter. It is wonderfully pleasant, and the scenery is a blaze of green on the hills. The summer months, I'm told, are unbearably hot (March - June). We stayed at Shivavilas Palace Hotel on a 3-night package to visit the Sandur and Hampi areas. I can safely say it was the best trip my wife and I have had in India, and it was mainly due to the comfort of the palace and the attentiveness of the staff at the Shivavilas Palace. The service is superlative. The Palace itself was beautifully and thoughtfully constructed in the early 1940s. It has been built for comfort (think high ceilings, spacious rooms and bathrooms, large room balcony and sitouts, aged wooden floors inside rooms and cool-looking black stone-flagged floors outside). It is not as ornate as large palaces in the north and, therefore, gives you what you are seeking: a relaxed, unthreatening atmosphere. The staff are available at your beck and call owing to its compact nature. Attention to small details in the rooms and around the palace is a strong feature of this palace; Something palace builders of the past knew, as service to the royals was of paramount importance. Little details such as strategically placed washbasin sinks, a cosy indoor bar, a Billiards table, and a beautiful verandah seating in the backyard portico, offer lovely evening get-togethers. As a compact palace, it has a dozen rooms at peak occupancy. The verandah and balcony behind each room are larger than the rooms themselves. They are nicely netted to prevent flies and mosquitoes. The indoors are optimally cooled with AC. Large trees and flower bushes adorn the palace compound. We spent a lot of time enjoying the diversity of flowers in this compound. You can hear several types of birds and peacocks in the quiet mornings Interesting memorabilia is visible (on walls, side tables, and photos), and the history of the royals is tucked into corners with numerous photographs of the area and its wildlife. The previous Maharajah (MV Ghorpade) was a celebrity photographer and author. I remembered reading his photo-documentary book "Sunlight and Shadows" from my teenage years, which now adorns one of the elephant-themed side tables in the palace. The key attraction of this palace is its beautiful gardens with trees and flower bushes, a 0.6 km walking path within its compound, a spa & gym, and a large lake behind the palace with a walking path for joggers and walkers. The palace dining rooms are clean, and the dining areas are spacious and airy (backyard), with really delicious meals served. We found their traditional (northern Karnataka) vegetarian fare excellent and didn't try the non-vegetarian dishes. You can bring your liquor and dine with it. A friendly and attentive staff, a diverse and well-appointed kitchen, an excellent morning breakfast that's included, and gorgeous surroundings make this palace hotel a highly attractive option t"
