Thaala Bentota
"Recently my family went out for a stay at Thaala Resort. We really enjoyed throughout the stay. And a huge thanks for the restaurant staff. They were really amazing and their hospitality is on another level. The food was real great and the spread is very good. Highly recommend."
Cinnamon Bentota Beach - Signature Selection
"Very satisfied, very amazing! The hotel was originally built in 1967 and designed by Asia's most outstanding architect, Geoffrey Bawa. The hotel reopened in December 2019, trying to preserve the original appearance of Bawa's buildings, recreating the famous batik ceiling entrance, and the brass peacock sculpture created by Laki once again stands on the stair railings of the restaurant. The 30 rooms in the main building have been converted into 16 suites, L-shaped, overlooking the Indian Ocean to the west and the Bentota River to the north. If you are an architect, it is recommended to stay in a suite, because the other two guest rooms are newly built later. We talked to Bawa at the front desk, and the hotel employee Sanduri gave a forty-minute tour, telling us every detail, trying to number each brick and then rebuild it as it was. In short, everything was very touching."
EKHO Surf Bentota
"Had a memorable stay at Ekho surf Bentota . Beautiful property with sea beach entrance . Good service . Friendly and helpful staff. Would like to visit someday again"
Prince Beach Hotel Bentota
"We stayed at this hotel as a couple in January-February. We chose a hotel that offered a more or less decent price/quality ratio. In my opinion, it was quite good. The hotel itself is small. The grounds, restaurant, and beach are shared between two hotels: Prince Villa 3* and WUNDERBAR 4*. The hotel is located between two roads – a highway and a railway: cars and trains pass regularly, and you can hear them very well. In this regard, the hotel is not suitable if you want peace and quiet. Bentota is about three kilometers away. Nearby, if you go left from the hotel, there are several stalls where you can buy fruit and water. The hotel grounds are small, green, and well-kept. The pool is right in front of the hotel building. I saw that they were cleaning it, and there are toys for children. But we didn’t swim there – there is the ocean, after all. We had a room with a balcony on the second floor. Large and spacious. Cleaning is upon request: you need to leave the key at the reception and ask for the room to be cleaned. If you don’t do this, the room will not be cleaned. There's only ONE room key! The owner gives you their number upon check-in, and you can use Wi-Fi to resolve any issues. There's Wi-Fi, but it's sometimes incredibly slow. We bought 50GB SIM cards from Dialog at the airport and had no connection issues. The room was infested with tiny ants—you can't leave any food behind; they'd swarm you instantly. We kept our food in the refrigerator, but since we took the key when we left, there was no power and the refrigerator had to defrost, leaving the food in water. There's a kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, and mugs. Two bottles of water per person per day. Towels: two bath towels, two foot towels, and two beach towels. They're changed upon request. There's a TV, but we didn't even turn it on—we didn't need it. The air conditioning works fine, but it just blows directly onto the bed. We slept with the ceiling fan on at night. Without it, it's really hot. Outlets: two adapters—that was enough for us. There's a safe - everything was in place: money, documents, jewelry. The clothes dryer is on the balcony. We didn't store things in the closet because of the hordes of ants. Our plumbing was fine, no complaints. There were two tiny bottles of shower gel and shampoo in the shower. We brought our own. There is a hairdryer - an old, small one. I always take my own. There were no mosquitoes in the room - we didn't need mosquito repellent, but there are mosquitoes outside. Mosquito cream wouldn't hurt. In general, the weather at that time was hot and humid, like in a sauna all the time. We arrived in a gray haze, when there was no difference between the sky and the ocean - solid gray haze and rain for two days. By February, the weather improved: it was sunny, hot, with rain at night. As for food, we took breakfast. I realized I needed half board: we spent quite a bit on food, since there's not much to eat nearby, just three similar hotels, and prices are like Moscow's. Plus, you pay another 10% tax. But that applies not only to cafes and restaurants, but also to state-run stores. You can't visit Bentota every day. Regarding breakfasts: they're the same every day: an omelet, two slices of toast, two hot sausages, a slice of processed cheese, jam, butter, a plate of sliced fruit (2-3 pieces each), a glass of juice, and tea or coffee."
Taj Bentota Resort & Spa
"Couldn't fault this hotel. My room was upgraded to a sea view de luxe room and it was fantastic. It was well cleaned every day by Jinendra who also left an amusing 'towel animal' for me daily! Breakfast in the Palms Restaurant was superb, plenty of choice and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Sam was exceptional and went out of his way to get everything I asked for. Madhuka and Dimli also deserve a special mention. The SHACK seafood restaurant was excellent and good value. We also had some evening meals in the Palms Restaurant. They offer a magnificent buffet but we ordered a la carte and were not disappointed. We ventured outside the hotel for an evening meal on a few occasions (across the railway line) but found the standard to be mediocre and not that cheap compared with what was available at the hotel. The swimming pool was easily accessible (graduated steps) and the water wonderfully warm. We never had a problem getting a sun lounger after breakfast although many are obviously reserved early. The extensive beach is lovely for walks. There are sun loungers in the shaded area in the trees but these have to be paid for. The hotel offers a number of daytime activities and there is evening entertainment. A wonderful stay and I would highly recomment this hotel."
Celestia Ayurveda Resort
"With my friends we spent a relaxing stay at Celestia Ayurveda Resort. We were quite impressed by this charming place. From the moment we arrived, we received a very warm welcome from Resident Manager Shimashi, Front Office Manager Renuka, and their team, They showed us around the resort and provided us with useful information about various facilities, amenities, and local sightseeing spots. We had wonderful Ayurvedic treatments at their Ayurvedic Center. The treatment is based on our consultations with Dr. Palitha and Dr. Prashanth. These two specialists are very friendly, polite, and professional. They explained to us a lot about Ayurveda and a healthy lifestyle. Deepthi was my Ayurvedic therapist. She has truly magical hands and is extremely kind, polite, and friendly. Her care made the experience even more memorable. We also appreciate the support of Duty Manager Mr. Kalum, who was very helpful throughout our stay. It was a pleasure meeting the owner, Mr. Chandana, and having a friendly chat with him added a personal touch to our visit. The food was absolutely delicious, credit goes to the kitchen and restaurant teams. The staff overall were very friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist. The property itself is peaceful and serene, with stunning architecture that perfectly complements the calm atmosphere. We had a fantastic experience and are already looking forward to visiting again !"
NH Bentota Ceysands Resort
"We stayed at NH Ceysand last month and had a fantastic stay at the hotel. This was my fifth time and we always love to stay at this unbeatable location, one side just steps away from the Indian ocean and the other side nice Benthara river with stunning ocean views right from the room. The rooms were absolutely clean, spacious, and well maintained, with comfortable beds and modern amenities. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help, which made the stay even more enjoyable. I would especially like to thank Mr Chanaka- House keeping Manager for his great service and kudos to each staff member. We especially loved hotel facilities, including the pool and restaurant which offered a delicious buffet and a relaxing atmosphere. It’s the perfect place for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a peaceful beach getaway on the west coast of Sri Lanka. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others looking for a memorable beach vacation."
The Villa Bentota by KK Collection
"We hosted our wedding at Villa Bentota and it was everything we could have wished for. The setting is stunning, with beautiful gardens and a relaxed boutique feel that made the day so special. The rooms and suites are stylish, comfortable, and full of character—our guests loved staying here and felt truly spoiled. The staff were incredible—helpful, friendly, and attentive to every detail. A special thanks to the food and beverage team Chandima, Gardinal, Niluksha, Manuke and Vishwa. The food, tje cocktails, the atmosphere, and the overall charm of the villa made it the perfect place to celebrate. Highly recommend!"
Club Villa
"Stayed for 3 nights in a deluxe room. Were first shown a room which was so small & dark it had no room for our 2 large suitcases. We asked if we could change rooms & they showed us a larger deluxe room over the restaurant but with no outside space so declined this room & eventually were moved to room 1 which was larger & brighter & looked like it had been more recently renovated than the two other rooms. It is worth noting the deluxe rooms are advertised as being larger than the standard room but in some of the rooms most of the extra space is on a mezzanine level up some steep stairs which has another bed. It was too steep for us to use for our cases & definitely could not be used for young children or elderly . We are in our early sixties & able bodied & found it quite inaccessible & quite frankly dangerous . The gardens & pool area are the highlight of this hotel & are beautiful . The man who looked after the pool & sun-beds was a delight & made sure you had your sun-bed wherever you wanted it & even placed frangipane flowers on your sun-bed! The pool is in excellent condition & very well kept. However, most of the hotel does need updating to bring it up to its former glory. The bar area was particularly uninviting with its dark decor & no proper bar as such . The dining room had no ambiance but food & drinks were good & reasonably priced. During our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka, this was the only hotel which had drinking water in plastic bottles & shampoo etc was also in small non reusable plastic bottles. The management do need to review their environmental policy. The hotel still has a lovely relaxed feel about it & the staff were lovely & helpful. As our flight left late at night, they allowed us to stay in our room for longer at no extra cost on our last day which we were very grateful . Our rooms was kept spotlessly clean. Not sure I would stay again as the trains at the bottom of the garden do operate until about midnight & start again at 4am & did wake me . The trains are approx hourly & were a novelty at first but when it affected my sleep every night I wasn’t so keen. It is worth noting that all hotels nearby along the same beach back on to this railway line so this is not exclusive to Club Villa."

Little Paradise
"Fantastic!! A very nice days. I Will come back this year again. Its a really litle paradise...and the family a very sweet and warm . You need to feel that."
Hostel Residence Bentota
Club Bentota
"Dilapidated hotel (more than a renovation, the hotel needs a proper reconstruction), rooms that smell of mold, sand fleas in the sheets (you don't notice the anticoagulant bites right away), broken wooden steps, shards of glass in the hallways, Wi-Fi only works (poorly) near the accommodation, third-world filth (in Europe this hotel would never pass health inspections). Avoid both TUI and this hotel. The staff is very kind and innocent: the workers' kindness is almost surreal considering they bear the blame for the hotel owners' faults. Only the hired staff and the endless beach are worth it. Other than that, not even the Addams Family would go to that place. We don't know how much TUI paid for the hotel rooms, but for the price we paid to TUI, we didn't deserve to live in that moldy wreck."
Villa 80
"Mr Henry is a wonderful person. He makes u feel welcomed and home. We were given very special treatment during check in. We stayed in 2 bedroom villa. It was spacious, with exit options from both rooms - ensuring full comfort and privacy to the other person. 2 bathrooms were add on. We got very good srilankan breakfast. Mr Henry kept on checking on our well being and ensured that we are comfortable. He was kind enough to give us complimentary milk too when we requested in night, even when we requested to pay. We loved and enjoyed our stay."
Lanka Princess All Inclusive Hotel
"They promis a lot, like different pillows and mattresses, but they have none. Had to put 3 comforters over mattress to make it a bit softer.ayurvedic treatments are short, and not all therapists are well trained.hotel has a very rigid atmosphere,no flowers,no charm, no feel of sri Lanka, could be in Germany. My room had no hot water,I complained for 3 days, then had water for one day. Don't believe everything you read. There are so many better places in Sri Lanka, with better service. The owner is an accountant in Germany, and and knows nothing about the hospitality industry. Worse vacation ever "
Haus Berlin
"We go with family, they gave us Villa and 3 rooms, not accomodated in the mail hotel building , this is infront of the mail hotel. Rooms had too many extra materials which makes room very conjested, like extra small bed, table etc. Rooms become very small with all this extra furniture. Many maquitos, Food very bad quality, nothing to eat for Vegeterian guys. We cancelled our booking for next day as it was niot possible to stay with un hygenic food."
Ocean of Life Ayurvedic Resort
Mahi Villa
"*A dreamy room with a perfect view!* We were extremely lucky to stay in this wonderful room/villa, located just 800 meters from the beach. A tuk-tuk ride to the beach was always available. It was truly the perfect place to escape from everyday life. The view of the river was simply enchanting and made the room a very special retreat. It has such a cozy, inviting atmosphere that we immediately felt at home. Everything was super clean and lovingly decorated. A delicious breakfast with freshly squeezed juice was served every morning. The proximity to the beach was another plus – simply wonderful! We truly enjoyed our stay and would return anytime. A real insider tip for anyone who loves peace, wellness, and nature. The Mahi Prabath family are wonderful hosts. Polite, helpful, and very close to your heart. Best regards, Claudia + Dierk Börner"
