The staff at the hotel is awesome! Can't express enough how much we appreciate their kindness, knowledge and customer focus. Deep respect to such amazing team! Our small room was... small, but very clean. The beds and pillows were soft and comfy, the linens and towels - pristine while. The room was cleaned daily and towels were changed as requested. Plus a lovely view from the window and aroma of the blooming linden trees. A few things shocked us initially. It was an unpleasant surprise to see that there are no room amenities: no kettle, no tea, no cups, no drinking water. Only two glasses and the bottle opener. Unpleasant discoveries continued after visiting the bathroom. Again, no toothbrushes, no toothpaste, no shampoo & conditioner (only washing liquid inside the shower stall and next to the sink), no slippers, no even shower cap! I am not mentioning the bathrobes... Since we had with us our own slippers and shower cap, the absence of the basic stuff offered everywhere else around the globe, did not spoil our stay. But honestly, for €145 euro per night I really expected more. So come prepared, bring all small items that could make your stay comfortable, and you will have a great stay, as we have had.

Pet- and tourist-unfriendly place. My latest experience very much resembled extortion. I was charged 100 euro for dog’s fur on the bedsheets and 150 euro for dog’s fur on the floor (the hotel representative had to put quite an effort into scraping some with her shoe) and an approx 0,5 mm brown-ish spot on the carpet which they claimed to be “blood” (considering that there was an approx 5 cm black stain on the carpet as of my checkin which hotel apparently didn’t see as something of an issue to me as a guest). I used to like this hotel (despite being placed on several occasions in rooms with obvious sewage issues), until I stayed there with my dog. I presented my dog at the reception at the checkin (that is the receptionist saw the dog). Paid 15 eur per day pet fee and proceeded to the room. No additional rules, policies or verbal requests were presented to me. My dog damaged a pouffe which I informed the hotel about at the checkout and happily paid whatever was asked of me (200 eur). In addition to that I was demanded to pay 100 eur for some fur on bedsheets and 150 eur for some fur on the floor as mentioned above. No oficial price list was presented. No explanation why 15 eur a day pet fee wasn’t covering washing blankets and vacuuming floor was provided, all my questions or logical arguments were ignored. The team of hotel representatives generously offered me a 50 eur discount on cleaning (which I didn’t ask for) only confirming that the amounts weren’t based on any actual price list, because if the hotel really suffered a loss of 250 eur why would they “gift” me 50 eur. I considered it to be an extortion and suggested to call the police. When I came back after 15 min the hotel still hadn’t called the police. As I had an urgent matter and had to leave, I paid the hotel whatever its staff demanded. I think what actually happened is the hotel staff had accidentally or recklessly placed us in a no-pet room (as there was a carpet, unlike in some other rooms. I was placed into that room after finding out the one I was initially given smelt of sewage - repeatedly happened before). And instead of charging their staff, they’ve charged me, so that they can do (if they actually do) for some deep cleaning after an animal to make it suitable again for people with allergies. Staff’s rudeness and ill attitude with me as a client weren’t in line with the hospitality filed’s even moderate standards. Most customers might find this hotel pleasant - which it is, until it is no longer.

Pre-booking when it has free rooms has uncomplicated. Personal friendly and helpful. Specially the young man who had late layer 4.3-5.3.2020. Room 120 : Clean but need urgent new furniture in point Couch (urgently to replace) and seating opportunities. Bath : At first glance clean - but for some people it can be complicated to go into a bathtub to shower. Breakfast: Typical Garni Hotel Breakfast (which is essential to learn how to bake the breads ) Unfortunately, we have not been informed that there is a building site in the building, so that you had the building noise at 8 a.m. In every business, the operational blindness is slipped from time to time. Tips to the hotel management . The carpet at the entrance of the hotel needs urgently cleaning and the entrance should be clean, it is the first thing a guest sees and welcomes. I have booked this hotel - despite the very high price - only because it is in the proximity of a friend. Since I was only arrived in the evening and the reception is not long occupied, a code should be sent to me in advance. On the day of arrival, I also received two emails on this. And then another call, whether the download of the app needed worked. However, what was not told me either in one of the emails (or in the booking confirmation), or on the phone, was that this address is there twice in Berlin. I was at the wrong address late night, of course. So back to the taxi and again through Berlin. Opening worked well. However, when the apartment entered, I almost hit. It smelled after food as if I were standing directly at the fritchet room. Insupportable. Opening the windows overnight was impossible because the house is directly on the motorway. And directly directly. If I had wished to have cleaned or new towels, I should have registered by email on the previous day. It was not necessary for me during the three days. The apartment was very spacious, but little living. Insightable from all sides and through all windows from the street - like on a presentation plate. It is also tasteful if you think it's good that the bathroom is inside the living room... On the day of departure I had to leave the apartment at 11:00 a.m. At 10:45 - I had put the “Please don't disturb” sign out and was just on the toilet - just the cleaner comes in!! Totally not worth the money and a total disappointment. Never again.

By the time this incident happened, I have already completed a 4 days stay in the hotel and was willing to increase my stay. For that purpose, I went to Mrs. Hausweld and asked to please consult the availability and the price of the rooms for extra nights. In response, I was told that the final price, including the city tax for 3 additional nights would be 350 euros with breakfast included. Consequently, I was willing to go along with that reservation and requested to pay by card. Afterward, then Mrs. Hausweld offered me the POS terminal to go along with the payment, and the amount ascended to 419 euros. Due to that unexpected difference, I kindly asked for an explanation and was told that 419 euros were the final price, and if I was not happy with it I would need to leave the hotel immediately. As a result, I kindly refused to pay that amount and asked her to please consult the price for two nights instead of three. In response to that, the front desk manager told me that no more rooms were available for me and that I needed to check out now and leave the hotel. Following that conversation, I went on Booking.com and reserved a room for the same days, without breakfast, and surprisingly rooms were still available. Next, I went to the front desk and asked to please pay for my booking Mrs. Hausweld looked at me in an unfriendly manner and told me she could not find any reservation. After 5 minutes of searching, she could finally open my booking. Then, although I already provided a credit card in my booking, she asked me to show it to her because she was not believing that it was not mine. I answered that the card was in effect mine and offered her to have a look, but it did not have any numbers on it. So she got ahead to request me to write down my credit card details, including the CVV code, on a piece of paper as ”a security”. Afterward, I was asked again by her if I would like breakfast or not, despite I selected the no breakfast option on booking.com. A moment later I was offered the POS terminal to pay by card, which stated an amount 30 euros higher that the price I booked the room for on this site. Due to the reoccurrence of the same, previous situation again, I refused to pay and respectfully asked her why the price was higher again. Mrs. Hauweld answered in a very disrespectful manner that I asked her to have breakfast included and that I was confusing her again. After that situation, I kindly asked them to speak with her supervisor. She answered, that she had no supervisor and was the only person working in the hotel for the whole weekend. That experience left me in complete disbelief of her professionality and her being in that important role in the hotel. However, despite that bad experience with that particular staff member, I would like to note that the other front desk managers were very friendly and helpful at all times.

This is not my first time staying at A&O Berlin. I have been there prior and immediately after the pandemics too. During this time, the quality of the service has been steady and a good one. The staff rather amicable and prompt to help with any issue you may have. Sometimes things do not work as expected (coffee machine, contactless purchases) but they will guarantee your stay is a smooth one. Breakfast is abundant and provide several options. I only wish the coffee could be better, but all in all is not bad. Also, maybe rooms could do with a bit of cheering up colour, besides the ones provided by the curtains. What I like the most about this hostel is the consistency with the chain principles and the fact that you will find all you need for a good stay, even tissues!

Changed to this hotel due to it's location. It's a few minutes walk from the sub way and 40 minutes walk to Aleksandraplatz

We were in Berlin for a football match of our VfL Bochum and chose the Estrel because it is centrally located and you can get everywhere from there. Not far from the Sonnenallee S-Bahn station, we were greeted in a friendly and courteous manner at reception. The rooms are OK, if a little shabby, unfortunately the air conditioning was not really usable, you would wish for more modern functions these days. The breakfast was completely fine. What bothered me a little was that it was very, if not too warm everywhere in the hotel. And that was when the outside temperature was 20 degrees, I don't want to know what it's like in midsummer. Overall everything was OK, but I wouldn't necessarily book the hotel again.

I recently visited this hotel with my boyfriend and I was very impressed. We arrived a little before check-in and we were allowed to go to our room. the room was very spacious with an extremely comfy bed and amazing shower. Also on the last day our flight was not for a while and were were allowed to wait in the lobby after checkout which had lovely sofas and seating areas. It was quiet and there were people working in there. The staff were very lobely and was great for the price.
