"We had two rooms booked. 1 room was with elederly parents! The room given was a fair walk and was quite far from the reception area with no assistance only verbal directions. It would've been nice to have had some assistance from staff. When we got to the room the sink plughole was blocked so I rang reception to get it fixed, didn't happen! Questioned reception duty staff and he lied and he said he had it fixed by maintenance when no one even came to look at it! This isn't the service we expected from ‘Mercure’ standard. Leaning over the bath to brush our teeth and everytime we needed to wash our hands after using the toilet we had to use the bathtub. Not sure I read anywhere but to use the swimming facilities the adults have to pay £10 fee. Other than that the hotel is near local shops/motorway as well."

"I can not thank the amazing staff at this beautiful Hotel enough for their service and care. My parents and Uncle stayed here last week, they sadly lost their Brother and were over for his funeral. From my first phone call, to them booking out on Saturday , what can I say. Exceptional is not enough to express their care professionalism and all round service. They even accommodated myself, my son and nephew who had travelled just for the day. I would highly recommend this Hotel. well done everyone and thank you from the bottom of my heart"

"I can only echo precisely what others have said on here. Staff awkward and demanding on reception, more interested in speaking Hindi and playing on their phones than dealing with customers. I came here to stay over for a cheap night near a long-standing client. They wouldn't accept me because I didn't have any photo ID on me, which I've never needed before. The tiny car park was ridiculous with tiny spaces and a skip in one of them. I ended up having to pay to park in a nearby multi-storey car park, drag my bags around to here, only to be told that I could not stay due to the lack of ID. They were unreceptive to my failed attempts at bargaining to stay with them (I had to work urgently from a hotel that night), so I ended up dragging my bags back up the stairs in the multi-storey car park, paying my parking fee, and leaving - for a different hotel. An absolute disgrace with unhelpful staff, I'll never consider them again."

"Room was so clean and comfy, the bathroom was 5 star all day, I have the misfortune of staying in many hotels due to my job, this was by far the best I’ve stayed in, not just recently but ever, please keep doing what you’re doing as it works, great for the concert hall, a 3min walk!"

Hotel Royal Blackburn ★★
"I don’t even know where to start! Only way to describe this place is a total dump! Broken drawers , Dirty beds! Used toiletries left in the bath room! The room smelled so bad with dampness ! The bathroom alone smelled like 1000 cats have been urinating in there! The beds had black mould on them ! And were clearly not clean and changed from the last visitors!! The pillows were like bricks ! The stairs outside the entrance are a total death trap which have resulted on a hospital trip as I fell down them! 100% would not recommend this place !!!!"
