Not sure why the reviews on Tripadvisor are so old for this hotel - it made me nervous when I booked it, but I had an awesome time. Large rooms with high ceilings, aged wood, old stone floors, and old Spanish tile work, a leafy courtyard with big old wood tables and ceiling fans in shaded areas, and a stone fountain – as well as a common rooftop patio to watch the sunset. There are only seven suites, so every one has windows facing three directions, I think they all have balconies, too. It's not on the strip, so quieter, but a farther walk to get to everything, including an uneven gravel road/path that runs behind the Santa Fe for 100m to get to the main road. The people who run it are awesome – particular shout-outs to Mike and Blanca - the rooms are HUGE and come with a functional kitchen and ours had a view of the sunset from the front windows and off the wraparound balcony. I am a writer, and would love to go back here long-term to just sit in that quiet courtyard under the slow-moving fans and write to the sound of the fountain softly trickling everyday. Next time I’m in PE, I know where I’m staying.
