"Initially once we arrived at the hotel, our room wasn’t quite available for another 10 to 15 minutes but the hotel gave us two free drinks to make up for this minor inconvenience which we were both very happy with! The room itself was spacious and had a partition wall separated in the two double beds which was appreciated. There was also a large Jacuzzi which was clean and had no debris while in use and made for a rather relaxing night Vista for all lovely, friendly, and kind."

However, the breakfast menu repeats every two days and offers limited choices, so I wouldn't recommend eating there—it doesn't offer great value for money. On the plus side, the hotel hosts a complimentary afternoon wine and social hour—a service not found at other hotels—and the staff are excellent. Highly recommended!"

"I’m so glad we decided to stay at The Coal Exchange Hotel in Cardiff. I’d been given the very important job of finding a place to stay overnight for my friend’s special birthday. I didn’t really know where to start, so I compared prices of hotels in the area. I was surprised to find that the ‘budget’ hotels Premier Inn and Travelodge were no cheaper than The Coal Exchange for the given dates! I had a look at the photos and reviews and it looked perfect for a special occasion. It was steeped in history with the interior design staying true to the period in which it was built. Originally, as there were five of us, I had booked the sextuplet room. It looked amazing and we were all really excited about staying there. Unfortunately though, due to maintenance work being carried out on that part of the building, we had to change our plans to three double rooms right next to each other. The rooms were beautiful. Floor to ceiling double windows, opulent wallpaper, ornate period furniture and a lovely comfortable centrepiece bed. The bathrooms had gorgeous jacuzzi baths and stone basins. The following morning we had a delicious breakfast in Culley’s Restaurant situated inside the Coal Exchange. The staff here are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure you have the best stay. Can’t wait to go back."

"Booked one night in this hotel for a theatre show. My wife and I had a room on the first floor. It was self service check that was easy to use . Parking was discounted in Q park multi storey next to hotel for 24 hours cost £11.25.Hotel is close to Cardiff bay restaurants and amenities. The hotel was clean and our room was clean too. Towels were fresh ,bed was comfy, coffee,tea,milk & sugars provided and extras if required were on a separate stand in the foyer if you needed any more. Hairdryer was provided. We paid for all you can eat breakfast. It was very good and catered for all tastes. Only let down was any vegetarian hot food had to be pre ordered as was not available at the counter when you queued up . Had to sit back down for 10-12 minutes for it to be cooked.I think that there should have been a note somewhere on their leaflet or literature mentioning this, or even when checking in to be seated that were told . Otherwise it was a great visit."
