"Found this place by accident, short distance from our hotel in Zarraton. Took the fixed price meal 24€ for three courses, including wine, water and bread. Didn’t expect gourmet food, but what arrived was both very tasty and well presented, there is a la carte as well, but we were more than satisfied with the fixed menu, choices at each course as well. Very good charming service from our waiter, who spoke good English. You can stay here in a villa, there is a pool, the place is very clean, set in beautiful countryside, would like to return and stay next time."

"The hotel was in a nice location and the restaurant was very good the back patio along the river was a highlight the rooms were small but met my needs I appreciated the front desk help and the morning breakfast’s were excellent. My complaint was that It was impossible to take a shower and not flood my room. There is clearly a known problem that the hotel hasn’t bothered to take care of because I could see the rotted baseboards near the bottom of the outside of the shower from many previous floods. The wood was damaged and peeling away from the wall. They didn’t seem to care when I told them. It wasn’t nice that they didn’t tell me to be careful if this known issue when showering so I didn’t have to step out of the shower and use every towel in the room to mop up all the water."

This hotel is just perfect, lovely outdoor shaded terrace, lovely staff, the rooms are very specious and spotlessly clean, with good products - razor, toothbrush & paste, eye mask, shower caps etc The breakfast was ideal. The only issue we had were there were open bowls of nuts, one of our children has a severe nut allergy... The location is incredible. We did a pintxos/wine crawl around the town... Excellent night in Haro"

"All in all it was a great stay, but maybe being Spanish, I knew what to expect. Hotels in small or medium-sized villages can sometimes not fulfill foreigner's expectations as to quality, because they might be expecting to be accomodated in the same way as in big cities. But as a Spaniard I have seen my share of these kinds of places and you end up knowing what to expect. The hotel already advertises as a 3 star, that should already tell the average traveller that somethings are not going to exactly be the Ritz. To begin with, I never book breakfast, prefering to mingle with the locals in the village-cafés, this will save you some troubles. Parking is indeed in the square in front of the hotel, but always within walking distance. The way to function the jacuzzi was explained to us, and we enjoyed a great bath which was really relaxing after driving 4 hours from Madrid, but never expected 5 star spa treatments. Never had dinner, but I'm sure it couldn't be that bad. Otherwise you have plenty of places with pinchos in the village. All in all, could not recommend this place more as long as you lower your expectations and are more open to local diversity......"

Briones is a lovely, quaint town that is extremely convenient to explore the rioja region from. It is close by to big modern wineries like Vivanco as well as mid-sized ones like Lecea that are steeped in history and heritage. Staff were also very attentive and helpful, making our stay very pleasant."

"A fairly budget hotel but as it would be a late arrival and early check out we couldn't justify anything more expensive! Chose it as easy to drive to, and secure, cheap (€6) parking for our "loaded to the hilt" car. Good/prompt communication by email in days prior to check in. Remote check in after 3pm which was OK, but operator seemed vague about how to access the garage (the pin pad didn't appear to work so wife went into garage - accessed through the hotel lift- and found a button to operate the double doors. Not sure how a single traveller would manage this. Room basic but very clean. Always carry our own kettle for an early morning cuppa anyway. Comfortable bed, and lovely powerful shower! Can't comment on breakfast but may have been ok at less than €8 per person. No bar, but local one immediately opposite. Note, many Haro restaurants seem to close on a Monday so after trudging around in the rain for a while we opted for a Chinese! Disgraceful in "tapas town" but it easy friendly and good value Next morning reception was manned by a charming young lady"
