"Very traditional hotel, nice atmosphere. The restaurant was nice. The reception is a bit small and hot, we were sorry for the staff who worked in that hot area. The rooms were quite large and nicely furnished but in one room which we asked for the extra bed, in that bed my son was attacked by bedbugs. That’s only thing that were disappointed"

"Very warm friendly welcome. Wonderful accommodation with a swimming pool. Peaceful calm surroundings in the middle of nowhere. Very clean large room. Spacious bathroom with large shower. Room had a sofa and a small kitchenette with everything you need including a kettle! Bed was too firm for me so I put the spare duvet on the mattress which resolved the issue. Owner offered us sandwiches and beers on our arrival. Wonderful buffet breakfast offering meats, cheeses, toast, desserts and loads more. Please note: The approach road is a dirt track. Please don’t be put off, you are going the right way. If you haven’t hit a dirt road then you haven’t got there yet! Please note that the roads generally are very narrow so watch your speed. The accommodation is a large yellow building ahead of you. Also the owners have a large fluffy German Shepard dog. Please don’t be alarmed. He doesn’t jump up or bark. He will approach you just to say hello and likes a little stroke. I visit Portugal every year to see my father and I will now be making this wonderful place our place to stay."

"Pousada Palácio de Estoi is a beautiful hotel, elegant in every corner, very quiet, and with ample parking. I stayed for two nights, and while the first night was wonderful, the second evening at dinner was disappointing. The restaurant service felt rather cold, and there was a mix up where someone had made a 7 p.m reservation under our names without informing us. Things worsened when my fish soup contained a small piece of plastic, which I showed to the restaurant manager, unfortunately, that ended my meal. Not to mention the delay in food, 75 minutes sitting in the restaurant, I have only had the plastic containing soup. Despite this, the hotel itself is charming and well located, with some aspects of service done right. With some attention to communication and restaurant service, it could easily be a five star experience. Not quite there yet in my humble opinion."

"We had such a good time at the Mocho Resort! Rich breakfast, either sweet or led by top grade omelettes with Km0 eggs - the chickens of Antonio and Dila are the only workaholic around. It's a bucolic treat and the swimming pool offers a fresh nap under the trees as well as beds under the sun. An interesting ping pong table on the terrace is there for real sportsmen (far enough from bedrooms). And if you have a problem Antonio is always there to help you solve it"
