"First off, this place is astonishingly original and beautiful. Then, we were charmed by the welcoming staff, and the quality and spaciousness of the rooms. Next, there's the Spa with a splendid pool and other amenities like a small basin and a sauna. We took the time for a massage and once again, the quality and kindness were exceptional. "We actually spent time here twice last year. Once in April and then again in November.Quinta do Mocho Turismo Rural is located out in the Algarve countryside. It is, somewhat isolated, which lends to its charm, but it is not far away from centres such as Olhao or Faro. A car is definitely required, and if you are to do proper justice to the area, you will need one anyway. There is ample free parking to park your vehicle. A GPS will be required to find it the first time, but after that, it is a cinch and well worth booking a stay. This is a very well run establishment. The surroundings are truly beautiful. This includes the well kept grounds and of course, its rural setting. The facilities, and the rooms themselves, are all well kept and complete. There are, I think seven, large rooms, all but two have a small, ample kitchen. We enjoy grocery shopping locally and preparing our own meals, so very convenient. As it is, our host, Antonio provides a very complete breakfast, farm fresh eggs and a nice selection of local breads, etc. If this not to your "taste", then you aren't that far from nearby restaurants or cafes. The rooms are large and comfortable, complete with balconies, looking out on the surrounding hills. The beds/bedding are very comfortable. There is good free wifi, the rooms also have television. There is also a well maintained swimming pool, set in very pleasant grounds. Quinta do Mocho is an inviting place to come back to, whether after a day at the beach or a site seeing excursion. Indeed, If you are staying here for a while, (why not), you could spend the day here to just relax. But.... You are not here to just relax, there is just too much to see. Quinta do Mocho is close to, as previously noted, Olhao and Faro. These are large centres ca. 45,000 to 60,000 people. There is much to see and do in these cities. For example, Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, old churches, great markets, etc. A drive to some of the hill towns is also in order, Alte, Silves (Castelo de Silves, 8th century Moorish castle), Tavira, Loule, Fuseta (Praia da Fuseta) and close the close by town of Estoi. One interesting feature to see here, is the first century Roman Villa of Milreu ruins. Antonio will gladly add to this very incomplete list! We even took an excursion into Parque Nacional de Donna, just across the Spanish border. A bit of a drive, but doable. The area has much to offer and being quite far south, the weather has much good to offer, even in the off season. Staying at Quinta do Mocho Turismo Rural is a good choice and we will be back."
