Haast River Motels & Holiday Park ★★★★

📍 52 State Highway 6, Haast

"We recently stayed at Haast River Motels & Holiday Park, and despite the high demand for accommodation in the area, we managed to secure a bunk bed room. While the room itself was simple and compact, it served its purpose well as a clean and comfortable base for exploring the stunning surroundings. The holiday park is well-maintained, with tidy facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and accommodating, ensuring that even though we had one of the more basic room types, our stay was pleasant. The communal areas were convenient, and the location is excellent—close to the Haast River and within easy reach of local attractions. Overall, while the bunk bedroom may not offer the same level of comfort as other options, the park itself provides a great experience. It’s clear why this place is in such high demand: the combination of location, cleanliness, and hospitality makes it a solid choice for travellers passing through Haast."

Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki ★

📍 Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki, Haast

"My favorite stay while in NZ (South Island). You will arrive @ lands end when you get here yet the accommodations are first class. Here are some words that describe what this place is about: ecotourism lodging in comfort, guided nature walks & excursions, birding, native NZ plant and animal species, owner operated with a passion for conservation (Jerry & Anne), remote, relaxing, hiking trails, kayaking, top notch food, drink & service, knowledgeable staff, geology, peaceful ... I would return in a heartbeat if I could but it's on the other side of the world from me"

Heartland Hotel Haast ★★★
"All in all a nice hotel, you can park directly infront of you room. The walls are a little bit thin, so you can hear the people nextdoor."

Heritage Park Lodge ★★★
"The hotel is in a good location and the owner upgraded the room, which is very spacious. Parking is also convenient. There is a small shop behind the hotel, which has a few simple items but the prices are relatively high, so it is better to purchase in advance. There are restaurants nearby."

Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki ★
"This was one of the absolute highlights of our 1 month trip through New Zealand. The place is situated in the middle of a natural reserve and prime forest, all within walking distance. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, and well proportioned. Anne and Gerry are perfect hosts, friendly, knowledgable and passionate. Don't miss doing the guided walk with Gerry, as he is an encyclopedia of knowledge, and full of enthusiasm. We only have one regret, we wished we could have stayed longer."
