Balinese Onsen Ryokan Hakone Airu

Hakone Yumoto Hakone|0.52km from Hakone Tozan Cable Car
We booked Hakone Airu under the expectation of taking part in an 'experience' and wanted to embrace all that we would be offered. Primarily, we were looking for a place to stay in the Hakone area with a private onsen and reasonably close to transport links. Hakone Airu delivered in all of these aspects and was a fantastic spot from which we could make use of the Hakone pass and explore the region. Directions upon booking were clear and advised taking a bus or taxi from the train station but we opted to walk the 15 minutes and take in the local shops. While the final stretch does climb uphill, if you are reasonably fit, it shouldn't be a problem. Check-in was very welcoming and after complimentary drinks, we were shown to our room which was perfect. The outside area with private onsen and views of the surrounding hills was divine and we enjoyed spending evenings 'soaking' in the atmosphere both figuratively and literally. This ticked every box in achieving the relaxing onsen experience we were looking for. Meals were plentiful. Breakfast was fit for a king and the western menu (with a Japanese nod) set us up for each day with full and satisfied stomachs. The evening meal was 'Kaiseki' which, as defined by Google, is ”a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. The term also refers to the collection of skills and techniques that allow the preparation of such meals”. It is akin to a 'tasting menu' that you might expect in more elaborate Western restaurants. With that in mind, we fully expected a range of textures, tastes, colours and presentation that could challenge our palates. The meal did exactly that. Over ten, superbly presented courses, we sampled a range of meats, seafood and clever vegetable twists that both delighted and challenged our expectations. The Sashimi was a particular highlight along with the cleverly designed corn dish! A turban sea snail added to the adventure and is a great example of how the menu can push your expectations by providing foods you may not ordinarily opt for. Impressively, the menu was different each night and a delight to sample. Throughout our stay, the staff were outstanding: courteous, polite, helpful and went out of their way to accommodate. Thank you. We arrived at Hakone Airu with high hopes; these were achieved in every aspect. I would love to visit again and recommend it to anyone who is open to embracing everything on offer.

The ryokan is set high above the town but unfortunately the area around the hotel smelled awful. I appreciate this is not the fault of the ryokan but gives a very bad first impression. The smell is not just of sulphur but of sewage. The room was Western/Japanese with Tatami flooring and a seating area. Unfortunately we didn’t have a private onsen and we were given very little information about the public one other than the location and that you needed to take your towel from the room. These towels were of very poor quality and there was only one per person. There was nowhere to dry them after use. The private bathroom was very outdated. There was a kettle and tea and coffee but the water tasted disgusting even when boiled to make tea so we didn’t trust drinking it. Dinner was a Japanese multi course meal with a variety of dishes although three of these were miso soup based which was problem if you are not a fan. The drinks were more expensive than anywhere else we had visited. For breakfast we specifically told staff the night before we didn’t want another multi course fish based meal and just wanted coffee, juice and if possible bread. This turned out to be impossible. No coffee, a huge Japanese meal already set out on our table, no juice unless we paid for it. In the end we just checked out and left - thirsty and regretting making the trip at all. We have stayed in other ryokan where the service has been exemplary and our experiences in Japan have been overwhelmingly positive. I would really advise missing this ryokan off your schedule though. It wasn’t a good experience and I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

The hotel is very close to the station, 3 minutes walk, but it will not be noisy, go out is the hot spring street, the scenery along the road is very good, Hakone is really a good place worth going again. The hotel is because I am a personal room. I live in a different hall. The hot spring is in the main hall. The female hot spring is an open-air wind and can see the moon (not the kind of fully open-air hot spring, because on the sixth floor). Look at the hotel pictures. Because it was Monday when I went, there were too many hot spring hotels in Hakone. Maybe the number of people I stayed in the hotel was not much. I didn't disturb anyone for an hour in it, and I met another family when I left. The receptionist of the hotel was very warm and courteous. The room was really small, but the quilt was so soft. The height and comfort of the pillow were the most comfortable I have ever lived in Japan. Before I came, I saw that the evaluation was 3.5 points, and there was an evaluation that the air conditioner was not cold enough. I heard that this year Japan is hot. I stayed at the end of September. The temperature has been slightly reduced a few degrees, but I really feel that the air conditioner is not very cold (it finally feels a little cold when it is turned on to 26 degrees). Maybe the air conditioner is a bit aging. If the hotel can check it, it may make more guests more satisfied. Another point is that the bed is facing the mirror. If you are a little bit like me, consider it carefully. Oh, the free bathrobe provided by the hotel is more sincere. Although my friend looked at the photos and said that it was a bit old-fashioned, the hotel fee was not high or the hot spring hotel. What else to choose? In addition, the hotel seems to be able to spend 500 yen to choose a set of other bathrobes to wear. At that time, I stayed for one night and didn't enjoy this service.

Hotel Hakone Suimeisou is a perfect blend of old tradition and modern Japan. This hotel provides an excellent experience of Japanese hospitality. It is in the most convenient location and serves as a take-off point to the rest of the Hakone region. The Hakone Yumoto Station is only a few minutes walk and there are so many places to eat and shop within the area. The hotel is designed as a traditional Ryokan inn and provides traditional Japanese hospitality with rooms that are clean and well-designed. Make sure to experience the full service by availing of the breakfast and dinner service in your rooms. There are bountiful seafood dishes that are provided for each meal. Take advantage as well of the onsen (natural hot spring) facilities. There are touches of modern amenities in the hotel to make you feel comfortable. I commend the staff for their excellent service and will definitely come back in the future.

On Friday, I had a break, so I hurriedly booked a plan for staying without meals. It is a mountain room in the pond building, within 1 Person 1 10,000 yen. In the evening 17 I arrived at half past half, but the shops near Hakone Yumoto Station were almost closed. The correct answer was that I was procuring side dishes in the basement of the department store in Shinjuku. The convenience store was open. There are liquor stores and Lawson near the inn. The garden was an invisible room, but it was wide 々 and the scenery was good and I could see the mountains. The cleaning was well done. The futon is a style that you lay yourself, but I was grateful that you were prepared for a split, plate, and glass, probably because of the consideration for guests staying without meals. Coffee and tea were also set. It was good that the large communal bath and the bath in the room were both hot springs. The room was a unit bath, but I didn't really care. The next morning I took a walk in the large garden. I was able to relax. Hakone Yumoto is close to 80 minutes from Shinjuku, and I think it is an affordable plan for train fares and accommodation plans for inns of this class. I want to go to stay again when I have time.

The accommodation fee is cheap within walking distance from Hakone Yumoto. The double bed was large enough. I received a drink free ticket to drink at the bar on the first floor and talked with the inn. I was told the information around. If you are accustomed to overseas guest houses and hostels, it is thought that the cost performance is high, but if you expect a general Japanese hotel or inn, you may feel unexpected

Very good stay experience, there is nothing wrong with your point. The hotel has a total of 8 rooms, the rooms are very large, and each room is equipped with a butler. Come back to the housekeeper every day to help you pick up things to the room, then prepare refreshments and ask you to prepare some dinner. Dinner is a Kaiseki cuisine, a lot of roads. However, it is necessary to remind families with children that children are too small to eat Kaiseki, and we all buy food from outside. If you prepare your child separately, you will pay an extra 10080 yen a day. Let's talk about hot springs, bring hot springs in the room, come back and put in water. After dinner, you can soak, or you can go outside public. I have no one to go to the public soup pool for three consecutive nights. In short, not bad money can go to experience, definitely worth it

Stayed for one night and enjoyed the onse. The onse was man and woman separate. Further there is the possibility for a private onse. Make sure to ask for a private onse with a good view out.

Go with my husband, I have watched on the Internet for a long time, and also listened to the recommendations of colleagues, I chose this one, the location is not bad, the train station is about 7-9 minutes walk down, there are some shops along the way, but you must pay close attention to what you want to buy During the day, the door closes very early, and there are only convenience stores left at night ... Most of the service staff in the hotel are elderly people, the speaking speed will be a bit fast, the English level is normal, the daily communication is okay ... the facilities are really old, The cleanliness is really average in Japan. The unsatisfactory place is that towel. There is only one piece for each person. There is no new one to replace. You can only bring it back to the room to dry it for reuse. The hot spring area is also relatively small, outdoor. I ’m alone when I go in the evening. There is a gecko on the lampshade to accompany me. The time for the private soup is very tight. Be sure to make an appointment as soon as possible ... Meals, alas, look at personal tastes, there are many and rich. But our taste may not be very suitable ... It is still good to experience it, order early, grab a cheaper price, haha ,
