Guesthouse Mikael
8.7 (47 reviews)

Guesthouse Mikael ★★★

📍 Hafnarbraut 8, í Hornafirði, Hofn

"By this point in our trip we were used to places sending us emails with entry codes and Guesthouse Mikael was no different. However what was different about this place was that we had a bathroom in our room which was a nice change. As with almost every place we stayed in Iceland they had comfortable beds and pillows. A nice little breakfast in the kitchen area outside our room. The rooms aren't well insulated enough against sound that the first group of people through in the morning made enough noise to wake us up. Great location next to several restaurants, and a small park with a running path and a few sculptures that provided a nice morning walk before we set off driving again."

Heppa Apartments ★★★

📍 6 Heppuvegur, Hofn

"The apartment is spacious and well located. However, it was dirty, particularly the kitchen, bathroom, and common laundry room. Also, there was a strong unpleasant smell of seafood throughout the building and apartment (in addition to tobacco inside the appartment from previous guests). Please note that there is no elevator, and the apartments are only accessible via stairs."

Guesthouse Mikael ★★★
"Cosy room, spacious toilet. Although well equipped, the shared kitchen was rather small, I can't imagine having to share the space with other guests. Also, the electric cook tops take a really long time to heat up! They had an espresso machine which you could use to make coffee. The rooms were completely self check in/out, and we didn't see any staff."

Höfn - Berjaya Iceland Hotels ★★★
"The room facilities are complete, spacious, and bright. The accommodation is right by the sea, offering beautiful views from the window. The front desk staff is very nice, and breakfast is good. The only downside is that there aren't any big supermarkets nearby."

Guesthouse Dyngja ★★
"Really nice location opposite the small harbour. We stayed in the Studio (1) in winter. The room was clean and comfortable and several restaurants are just a short walk away. There’s a Netto supermarket 450 away and a couple of gas stations in the village. Worth filling up in Höfn if you are travelling either East or West."

Guesthouse Kálfafellsstadur ★★
"The room was cozy, clean, and tidy. We arrived late, but the landlady still came to welcome us. We had breakfast in batches in the morning, which was prepared by the landlady herself. There was a wide variety of choices, and we were very full and satisfied. It was a happy stop on the journey."

Hotel Höfn ★★★
"The hotel's address was very misleading. It was an 8-hour drive from Reykjavik, and when I tried to change my reservation with the hotel, it wasn't possible, even after providing my itinerary. I wouldn't recommend staying here."

Höfn Inn Guesthouse ★★★
"Unfortunately the hotel does not answer calls at all, we had 2 rooms, but they sent us a code only for one, it took 6 hours to get the code for the entrance to the second room. There is almost nothing in the guest house, no kitchen, no sauna."
