"We booked 2 adults and 1 kid but the hotel asked for extra charge of JPY 12,450, which we have never been informed when checked in. The front cannot speak English well and cannot make any decisions. I decided to pay due to waste of my time. Very unsatisfied this service. However, the officer of Trip.com is very helpful to manage this issue."

"The staff at both the front desk and the dining area were very friendly and helpful. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style, with more choices than I expected, especially the seafood selection. I don't drink alcohol, but they offered four types of sake for free. There was a Japanese sweets corner, and I had soy sauce soft serve ice cream topped with kinako (roasted soybean flour) and lots of warabi mochi (bracken-starch dumplings), which was absolutely delicious. While hotel prices are rising, the room rate was reasonable, even though it was the Saturday, the first day of the Ice Waterfall Festival. The only thing I regret is that the yukata I stayed in was old and the fabric was starting to thin."

"We had a miserable time at Hotel Kumoi. The staff were extremely unfriendly and cold from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Reception made no attempt to welcome us or make us feel at home, and we felt like unwelcome intruders rather than guests. It feels as though the staff hate their jobs, resent their customers, and wish they were anywhere else. To make matters worse, the onsen had mold growing on the roof and it was not possible to relax there either."

"The hostel is in an idyllic location, the staff is wonderful, the facilities are very, very good, but the mattress... If you don't mind sleeping on a mattress that's too thin, go for it. This review would have been 5 stars if they had a "normal" mattress. If you don't have trouble falling asleep and aren't going to spend many nights, there's no problem, but if not, you might not enjoy it as much."

"Overall, it was okay. However, I have one thing to mention. The check-out time listed on the website was before 10:00 AM, but the management came at 9:05 AM to rush us out. The reason was that the hotel's weekday check-out time is 9:00 AM. So, within 10 minutes, our family stuffed everything into their suitcases without even packing. We then checked out at 9:15 AM. The receptionist then charged us an extra 1,000 yen per person for a late check-out fee, totaling 3,000 yen. I personally felt bad. The website clearly stated a 10:00 AM check-out time, but when we actually checked in, we were "forced" to check out at 9:00 AM. Although this was explained at check-in, I'm not familiar with (or should I say, unable to understand) Japanese. This really gives me a bad impression of both the hotel management and TRIP.com's service. It seems like they're talking to each other because they don't understand the language."
