"Just a 2-minute walk from JR station, located right on the shopping street with plenty of great food and shops nearby. The room was clean, and the service was warm and welcoming. They even have shared laundry machines, a dryer, microwave, and a fridge, which was a very thoughtful touch. Breakfast was simple, just milk and bread, but it tasted good. It would be even better if there were more options."

Unfortunately, the rooms are a bit dated, but the hotel's overall good service makes up for this."

"If you speak English well, it will be very convenient, as there are many English instructions. However, the front desk staff's English is generally not good, and check-in is done via self-service in English. If you mind, you can ask them. The day before, I stayed at the Mercure across the street, but the sea view wasn't as good as this one's river view (including Karatsu Castle view), which is very beautiful. There's also a light show at night, and there's a small public bath on the first floor—so relaxing! Excellent value for money! The room was cozy and had everything you needed. Interestingly, the refrigerator was also self-service (English instructions included). I only stayed one night, so I didn't have to worry about room cleaning. It seems this hotel cleans every three days, and you can leave your trash in the hallway, which is common in many Japanese hotels. There are fast food restaurants nearby, and the JR station is within walking distance. The river is right outside, a great place for a stroll. The hotel information mentions (paid) bicycle rentals, but I didn't inquire about the details. There are many self-service items in the lobby, and there are English signs indicating free coffee in the morning, but I didn't take advantage of it because I checked out early."

"The location is right next to the river, making it truly worth the name. The view from the room window is breathtaking, morning, noon, and evening. Karatsu Castle is just across the bridge, and a 20-minute walk takes you to the beach and Nijino Matsubara, where you'll find Karatsu Burger. There's also a supermarket about a 15-minute walk away. The staff are friendly."

"This is my first stay at Ryokan and it was perfect. Personnel' English is not perfect but it's enough. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and healthy and the portions were big; the Ryokan building and its garden were peaceful and beautiful. I'll be happy to visit this place again later!"

"Book when the room price is lower, the price/performance ratio is super high. The store is directly facing the seaside, with beautiful sea views, and is also close to the historical windbreak pine forest of Niji no Matsubara. The interior decoration is simple and tidy. The public activity area can be used for cooking, laundry, and clothes drying rods. The waiters are very friendly. A small hotel that is comfortable to stay in all the time."

"Quiet and chill place to stay with if you need a very relaxed break. Closed to the seashore and castle which is about just 5 mins walk. Great food with careful and hearty preparation, both dinner and breakfast, impressive to eat in a 2nd floor room with sea view and super spacious. Small hot bath but super clean and ordered, very few visitors so I enjoy it alone. Highly recommended."

"It was a rather peculiar hotel. Only one middle-aged woman sat at the front desk, and the lobby was filled with various "antiques" but very quiet. Opposite the lobby was a pavilion with a clock that automatically chimed on a fixed time. Overall, it was alright, considering the price."

"The check-in process was complicated. I had to call to check in, but I didn't receive the door code. The door lock was complicated in design. If it broke, I couldn't get in or out. It was a hassle all night. The hotel accused me of pressing the button by mistake many times and refused to compensate me. I will never do it again. Stay at a hotel owned by grand base again"

"The front desk staff didn't speak English. I had ordered a BBQ dinner, but when I checked in, they said they wouldn't provide it and that we should go to the supermarket to buy ingredients and come back. Luckily, I found that food had been prepared in the room, but the staff didn't know the details. I showed him the printed Japanese order, but he still said they didn't have it. It was already very late, and I had been driving all day. This misunderstanding was really upsetting!"

"The Japanese-style room was spacious and comfortable, but the hotel didn't have an elevator, so we had to carry our luggage upstairs. Fortunately, the staff were very helpful. Dinner was plentiful and the ingredients were fresh – highly recommended!"
