Unsure where to even start, terrible room all round. I can honestly say I've stayed in cleaner, more comfortable hostels. The bed was an old basic divan and the mattress was no better than a 4 inch thick sofa cushion. Think Argos budget line. The room was very cold and the radiator didn't work but they had kindly supplied a filthy plug in oil heater which wasn't much use due to the size of the room and the only plug sockets being at the opposite end to the bed. Ended up moving the bed to the other end of the room to be near the heater. There was also a dirty fan for the warmer months to make up for the lack of air conditioning. The power switched off at some point in the night and had to be restarted with the room key card so the room was cold again on waking. Bathroom fittings were dated and rusty with rust stains down the walls in places and the bathwater was lukewarm on the highest temperature setting. Quickest bath of my life as the cold room made the tepid water cold in the time it took to wash my hair. The light above the bathroom mirror was cracked and repaired with sellotape. Not much of a problem but the TV was tiny and touching the ceiling so very uncomfortable to watch. Dirty skirting boards and splashes up the walls in places, dust bunnies under the bed, hairy taps, one hanger in the wardrobe, paint on the curtains and to top it all off no spoon to stir the tea and coffee with. The room in general was shabby and tired and doesn't look to have been updated in many years. The only saving graces were the proximity to the station, free WiFi and clean sheets.

Can't say enough good things about this hotel. We stayed last Saturday night and were upgraded to a suite, which was the first positive experience of many there. We were there to visit my family in Driff but my father had just been taken into hospital nearby, so we also went to visit him there. It's not been an easy time lately and to top it all, my husband ended up being ill through the night from a takeaway (we think) from earlier that evening. He mentioned it to one of the staff at breakfast simply to explain why he wasn't able to face any breakfast aside from a bit of toast. On learning this, all the staff there at various points checked on him to see if there was anything he wanted etc. And the wonderful girl on reception (wish we'd thought to get names, it would have been nice to give them credit here individually) allowed us a later check out so my husband could get a bit of sleep before our long drive home. Thank you so so much, it made all the difference! This wasn't my first stay at this excellent, independently run hotel - previous stays have also been a very good experience, which is one of many reasons for booking again. But we were particularly impressed on this occasion and would like to thank all of the staff we encountered last weekend. Without exception they were friendly, kind and caring, when we needed that most. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It's great value for the location and quality throughout, and the friendly, efficient service. We will 100% be booking again!

It very quiet time due to lock down but the staff there were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel was very clean with all the right resources in place to ensure social distancing and hand sanitisation. Was impressed

Yes, come to the preferred hotel in Hull. The location is very good, no matter where you go, museums, shopping malls, restaurants, train stations ... but the service needs to be improved
The Embassy Hotel
3.8/529 Reviews
We were lucky enough to choose this venue for our wedding reception. We had 120 guests, many of whom stayed at the hotel overnight. To date, I have not received one negative comment. Everything was organised to perfection, the room was impressive, and the food was nothing short of excellent. Although it was busy, no-one had to wait at the bar for long, and the bar was reasonably priced. Sarah and her team excelled themselves, and left us with wonderful memories of our day. On a separate note, some of our guest had their breakfast at the sister company, Gingers. Once again, all the reports I have had, have been excellent. Well done, The Embassy Hotel.
Village Hotel Hull
3.8/5101 Reviews
This is a very poor hotel in a cut off location. The rooms are cold and poorly decorated. It is in need of a major refurbishment. The beds are extremely comfortable, but having stayed here more times than I can remember, the quality of the bedding is generally poor (torn / frayed etc) and the cleanliness of the rooms can be extremely questionable at times. Staff are generally very friendly. The food in the bar and grill - well the menu never changes and it’s extremely hit & miss in terms of quality. You never know if your medium rare steak will arrive rare, well done or perhaps medium rare. Breakfast has no variety and there are is no option to have anything other than bland scrambled eggs. The issue, as mentioned above, is that given location you are restricted in options other than to eat in the hotel bar.
Holiday Inn Hull Marina
4.1/599 Reviews
Stayed here for 4 nights, first time in a Holiday Inn Hotel. A delightful stay. Room 224 was very nice with a great view over the marina. The staff were without exception very polite, helpful and efficient. The hotel was bright and clean. The room rate and food / drinks are not cheap but I don't begrudge that at all. Very, very , minor niggles: The in-room TV was in need of updating - functional by very clunky. Decaf options could be added to the breakfast coffee machine as opposed to limiting to using sachets. Suggestion if booking: Book a room with a marina view, great views and is away from the long-term roadworks on the A63 outside the other side of the hotel. Overall a very good stay, would be happy to return, recommended highly,
Humber Lofts Residences
4.1/58 Reviews
Bad: The towels provided were pretty small. Quite a few marks and scuffs around on walls and furniture. Unclear where to collect door card from, went from the car park to the room, back down to 'reception' and back to the room. Quite a few messages back and forth before check in and forms to complete. No information about when you can enter and leave the car park. Had a few problems with the website and entering information and making payments. Was just an added stress when attending for a funeral unfortunately. Would have been nice to have some fresh milk and more coffee. (But then again I do have a 2 month old!) Didn't have access to use the online key card until 3pm unfortunately, so had to get the cards. Coasters would be great, as the coffee table is glass and I was worried about putting down mugs and glasses. The room was lovely and a great size. Lovely little touches made it a comfortable stay. Large mirrors, plenty or storage, dining table and kitchen. Very large and comfortable bed. Blackout curtains were amazing! Lovely to have netflix etc on the TV. Easy to order deliveroo too!
