A historic hotel. Traditional Japanese rooms with private hot springs on a first-come-first-served basis. Location is excellent. A bit old but that is what I was looking for- a nostalgic feel. Not many amenities as it is an old hotel. No complaint.

The service was impeccable. The staff were very friendly and generally able to communicate in English. Their service is so good that they wipe down all your luggage upon arrival at the hotel, and my bags came out cleaner than when I came!
The food also left us speechless. I’ve never tasted such a delicious meal, and I consider myself a foodie. The dishes were prepared fresh right in front of us. Every detail was attended to, from presentation to taste. It deserves a 100% without a doubt. Since I had a food allergy, they were careful to leave out the allergen in all the foods. I was really thankful for that, because it’s not always a given at Asian restaurants.
The establishment itself is dated, but that’s why we chose it in the first place- to feel the aura of tradition. Having said that though, it was slightly inconvenient that there was no shower inside our room. However, it wasn’t too much of a problem because the shared shower/onsen room was just a short distance from our room, and it was generally not occupied. When we stayed there, there was a storm going on, so the the rain crashing on the window and the outside blinds gave off a spooky feeling, which added to the sense of adventure.

In the town of Arima Onsen, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the environment is very good, there is basically no queue for the two private hot springs, they are open all night, the front desk service is enthusiastic, the town is good for shopping and eating

The hotel is really old. When the wind is strong at night, it is very noisy outside the window. The retro feeling is a bit scary. The noise must be kept low when staying in the hotel. The sound insulation of the wooden structure house is very poor.

There are two hot springs in the hotel, both of which are independent. This is very good.
The hotel's meals are really hard to eat. Even a person who loves Japanese food really can't get used to it! The meals may be prepared very early, so they can't be changed at the last minute. The meals are all very cold. The only hot thing is tea. So I really don't recommend booking hotel meals. There are things to eat on the street outside, but you have to queue up and the store closes early.

Environment: Very good. It is a B&B in a hot spring town. The room is like the style of the Taisho era. It has a very nice feel and the room is large. It was a great stay.
Hygiene: Very good. You must take off your shoes when entering the B&B.

We arranged a car to take us to the hot spring (the hotel's hot spring was under construction) and walked back in a few minutes. The dinner was a kaiseki meal, the food and tableware were very exquisite. We were told in advance that there was no Kobe beef, but I saw other travelers had it. I don't know why different people had different menus. There was a grilled fish for breakfast, but it was average, not as good as the buffet at a business hotel.
