"I had a great stay. The owners are super lovely and will go out of their way to help you. I highly recommend the breakfast and dinners, they were great for big days of hiking and convenient as there aren't too many food options up in the mountains. The train carriages have a large sleeping area and a connected large room to store your things or just to hang out. Yes the pillows are like a bag of rice but it's part of the experience! Great place to stay and great value."

From the private onsen soaks, the tranquil views, the delectable food (black truffle shavings done table side was quite the treat!), and the extremely attentive staff, we couldn’t ask for more. I will say the location is rather remote but that is what we wanted - no distractions. We would stay here again without hesitation. PS: do the 5 course wine pairing with dinner - it’s worth it."

"For foreigners, the service is in English but also very friendly. The location of the hotel is very close to the Kokonoe trailhead, which is ideal for people who like hiking👍 The fly in the ointment is transportation. Since there are fewer foreign tourists, public transportation buses need special work."

"My group of 3 had experience real Ryokan which no toilet and bathroom in the room but we enjoy share toilet and bath due to no other guest during our stay. Comfort and calm place with small water fall next to the small bridge just 5metre in front of our room. The owner (family bisiness,i guess) served kaiseki breakfast and dinner every meals which was oishiiii desu. We also enjoy hot spring onsen bath downstairs."

"This was our 2nd visit and we love the hotel very much. We stayed for only one night last year and would like to come back again. This year we stayed for 2 nights. It's a very relaxed place. We booked 2 rooms and the hot springs in both rooms are great. Breakfast was delicious and the staffs were very friendly. I really wish I could stay longer. will come back again. "

"The location is on the way up Mount Aso, so there are few restaurants or shops nearby. There are places on-site selling meals, snacks, drinks, and alcohol, but the hot springs are truly amazing. The open-air baths and paths in the mountains, each with a different theme, are especially beautiful at night."
