"Had a very comfortable and pleasant stay at the Astor Hotel. Hospitality here was very warm and welcoming. Riya, Amit and Vinay were very helpful with the accommodations, travel recommendations and custom food needs for our infant baby. Shabbin, Payel and Tina even got gifts for our little one. Housekeeping staff was also very helpful and kept things very clean. It could not have been a better experience than this. Though visiting Kolkata for work, Hotel Astor was certainly full of memories, beautiful surprises and warmest hospitality. Would love to stay here again whenever in Kolkata."

"This hotel is massive, felt like i was living in a modern royal palace. I did get lost trying to find my ways. The staff was extremely courteous. I could see that excellent customer service is their top priority. The hotel room is very spacious and clean. Breakfast was also very delicious and they had too many selections to choose from. I had a great time staying at this hotel. Highly recommended!"

"Arrived late at night for check-in. The room was incredibly spacious, with a living room, dining area, and bedroom. The downsides were that the glass door to the living room balcony couldn't be opened, and the bedroom had no windows, which felt very claustrophobic. The room's facilities were dated, and the renovation work wasn't very effective. The hallway had an overpowering scent that was quite strong. However, the breakfast buffet was excellent. For a Taj property, paying just over 800 for this type of room was acceptable, with the only real issue being the age of the room's facilities."

"Beautiful hotel and restaurants. Good breakfast - wide selection. The room was beautiful and very spacious, the bathroom was very large and feels almost like a spa. I was with a friend and the ladies' spa was closed; this was not indicated in advance. The ladies' spa was very busy the whole time - apparently non-hotel guests are also allowed to use it. At the outdoor pool, I gathered that it didn't smell very fresh."

"Everything was perfect; except the dinner buffet. We will come to that later. I quote four memorable experiences. 1. The reception staff was well-trained and professional and any problems such as a billing confusion was resolved effortlessly, and more, the manager suggested me to relax in my room while they sort out the issue; no need to stand at the reception. What a nice gesture! 2. There was some drainage issue in one of the rooms (I had booked several rooms). A call to zero resolved the issue within 10 minutes. The service was ultra-fast for a hotel of this size. 3. They have shown a bold move by placing specially challenged (speech and hearing) individuals at public facing roles such as the butler, the restaurant waiter, etc. They are all well-trained and were able to communicate with my parents, my kid, and us effortlessly. Of course, none of us are trained in sign-language but somehow they managed it extremely well; hence this was a unique and amazing experience. 4. While we were checking in, there was some confusion with some of our guests who hadn't arrived yet. So, we decided to drop the bags and come back later for checkin. When the manager noticed that my elderly parents were in the car outside, they sent a couple of bottles of water to the car. Costs nothing but left a lasting impression! The dinner buffet was fine in general but the management could work on the menu and taste better, given the spotless nature of all of their other amenities and services. The breakfast buffet, however, had amazing taste. Moreover, in any other city, I would not have this complain but in Kolkata, the locals are typically foodies and the cheapest to the most expensive places in the city cannot compromise on taste. I would like to give the hotel a benefit of the doubt- I stayed during a (better: the) major North Indian festival. That might explain the main cooks on leave and backup options turned on, who tried their best but did not quite get it right."

"One strange thing to come accross is they don’t allow Outside food !!!! I.e Swiggy - Zomato etc , so it’s clearly that you have to get abused by their food ….if this the policy of this property then kindly have it posted on your listing also - !!!!!!! All your listings across the online platforms should be mentioned as “NO OUTSIDE FOOD” - you cannot keep the customers in the dark and tell them when they come in for check in !!!!!!! Bad !!!"
