"Thank you Sarah, and everyone at Dar Benti who helped make our family weekend in Monastir a delight. This pair of historic mansions in the heart of the ancient city has been gorgeously and sensitively renovated. You feel like you’re in an Architectural Digest spread. We came with our kids and grandkids aged 3 and 9 months and the giant family room (and crib) we were upgraded to were perfect. There was a high chair, and even adorable child friendly place settings at the lavish and delectable breakfast. Although it was too cool in February to make much use of the chic roof deck and pool, we enjoyed the variety of sitting areas and the lovely central garden. A perfect location for sightseeing- we walked everywhere. I highly recommend beautiful Dar Benti. "

"1.2km from the airport, which is very close. Unfortunately, there is literally nothing around the hotel. No shops, attractions, places where you can go out. You have to take a taxi everywhere. Taxi drivers have thieving prices. A liter of fuel costs 0.5e/l here and the prices are very high. To the center of Monastir 25-40 TND. To the train station which is at the airport 20tnd in 1.2 km🤣. Add these costs to your trip. There is no indrive from the hotel because no one takes the course. In the hotel it is boring to eat and there is little going on. The food is still uniform, the same every day, very little changes. The food is typical for local tourists. There will be no fries, hamburgers, nuggets. Fish in every form, up to the point of poving. The beach is very small, deck chairs like a medicine, it can be dirty, especially in the morning. It can be all at once. I won't come back again."

"Nice, clean hotel. The pool area was lovely with some water slides. The staff would happily grab you sunbeds and mattresses and put them wherever for you, which was a nice change to the usual sunbed scramble ! Entertainment staff were wonderful - very chatty and friendly. When we arrived there was no entertainment on through the day, but towards the end of the week, when getting nearer to their season opening on 1st July, they had various activities. Evening entertainment was ok. It was kids disco followed by a show. Or football with World Cup being on. But that was the only entertainment - no separate bar for footie - so if you didn’t like it, tough ! The food was ok. I’m a bit picky so I struggled on some nights but generally it was ok. The bar had an ok selection of drinks but as with a lot of all inc hotels, I’m pretty sure the alcohol was watered down. The rooms were fine if a little dated. Things to note - as you can’t take dinar into the country, take pounds ! Every other day there was something to pay for at the hotel - bingo, raffles etc. they did take £, so take cash. For some reason we were persuaded to go on a walk to the cash machine to get money for bingo books, which was around half a mile down the road. In 34 degree heat it wasn’t nice ! I’m pretty sure this was just so one of the ents team could run some errands whilst at work and use us as an excuse !! However, it does look like there is a bank of some sorts in the hotel so do use that instead !! There’s nothing outside of the hotel (other than the beach) so don’t have a wander !!! There’s security on the front gates for a reason. I’m not saying it wasn’t safe, but I wouldn’t want to wander alone outside the complex to find out for sure!! The beach was lovely. Literally just over the road from the hotel. There are sunbeds and mattresses there for your use and a condoned off area for the hotel guests, with an all inc bar to use, only serving beers and soft drinks though. One other thing to note - a couple of women said they were conned. They’d taken a trip into one of the towns, and as soon as they got out of the taxi, a man said he recognised them from the hotel and would take them to the best shops. They were then locked in a shop and forced to buy stuff before they could leave. So please be aware!!! But We had a lovely time in Tunisia. We paid less than £600 each but apparently the cost was more than doubling when it got into season from 1st July. Although the snack bar would be on then, it wasn’t open for us, and the bar would open an extra hour to midnight, I wouldn’t say more than £1000 per person would be worth it at the hotel."

"The hotel lobby is beautiful, got an upgrade when we got there which I’m glad we did, we got 2 balconies and beautiful view out to sea and the pool. The room itself was very dated, shower slid down the pole so couldn’t use. Aircon leaked and made the floor slippy, a very damp smell in hallways. However the food was lovely, plenty to choose from, kids always found something. Nice little snack bar in between meals serving pizza and crepes and hotdogs, although ice cream for the kids would have been nice. The all inclusive bar was very basic but ok. It would have been nice for info on kids clubs and activities on offer. Pool areas was nice, although few broken sun beds, so if you wasn’t down very early you struggled to get some. The lifeguards was constantly whistle blowing so you didn’t know if u was doing wrong or if there was a problem. Lifeguard manager needs lessons on how to speak to children as he was very horrible to my daughter. Entertainment team was fantastic!!! Really made my children have a lovely time encouraged them to join in when they was shy, the female entertainment staff was particularly great always dancing with the children and making them feel special.. could not fault them they deffo earned there wage. Hmm the beach… don’t go in the sea sanitary products was floating by as you was swimming and sea full of rubbish it was gross, full of locals. For the money though it was good value just needs a few tweaks I think."

"Lovely hotel, lovely food and brilliant pool staff, throughout the whole week it was a brilliant week away. The reason for it not being a 5 star is the reception staff wasn’t really helpful, we asked for batteries for the tv remote which took two days to come after several attempts of asking and we asked over four time for bottle of water for the room which we are still waiting for they took our room number down etc but never received any which is a real shame really as we had a brilliant time staying there. The pool staff though were brilliant and a great week away."
