"We ( with our 2 boys) stayed a night here at this utterly charming guest lodge. We received a very warm welcome. The decking area has amazing views and we enjoyed a drink from the honesty bar. Elza and Albert are charming and engaging hosts and have thought of many small details to make your stay really comfortable and enjoyable. The lodge was a standalone wooden cabin but had everything including a stocked fire ready for you to light. Plenty of bedding, hot water bottles, electric blankets etc to keep you cosy at night. Not 5* in the glitzy sense but everything you would want in a guest lodge stay with kids. Amazing value too."

"We enjoyed an unexpected 2 night stay at this lovely hotel when our car broke down. The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Special mention must go to Chantelle, Dan and Kiewiet. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed dining at The Colony but we particularly enjoyed our meals at Cafe Brûlé - everything was fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back."

"An excellent stay, well appointed chalets, very comfortable, we were there mid winter to see the meerkats, so electric blankets on the beds were most welcome Peaceful, serene garden overlooking a reed bed, good opportunity to chill out Good breakfast, served early, so we could be on time for our meerkat experience, which was about a 10 minute drive away Will definitely be back"

"Our stay at Le Petit Karoo had a beautiful start. The location is beautiful, with a beautiful view of the surroundings. It was a quiet place and the meals were a highlight. You feel that the food is prepared with much love and the tastes were fantastic. The rooms can be clean, but they were also fine and functional. Unfortunately, our positive feeling was overshadowed by a disappointing experience of hospitality caused by one of the two women, and at the end of the day we wanted to walk to the nearby ratites farm. We were surprised to see that this could not be done because we were allowed to leave the farm only by car, and because we had no car, we felt obstructed and we felt we had to consume additional food by staying on the ground. The next morning, when we wanted to leave the farm with our bikes, we were told that we had to wait 45 minutes for a car to make a shop. It felt very uncomfortable that the gate was not special for us The inflexible and unfriendly attitude of this one person has unfortunately put a dim on our stay. It is a pity to conclude that, despite the beautiful location and the wonderful food, the attitude of one of the host women has adversely affected the overall experience."

"What a gem in the middle of a warm Outshoorn. Anzue made us feel very welcome. Everything you need is in the room, with added extras like filter coffee, rusks and even apples from the guesthouse garden. The gardens are tranquill, and the big farm dam pool was refreshing after a very hot day."

"The unit was really absolutely lovely but has a lot of stairs. They've made a lot of their own furniture but it goes well with the setting. The outdoor bathroom was spectacular! Lovely dogs and gorgeous farm to wander around. The amenities were great and staff very friendly. The kitchen equipment was kept to the minimum, which we understand fits the ethos, and the staff were happy to bring anything one needs. They brought us a braai and grid, tongs, wood etc. But it feels awkward and is a bit of a pain to have to keep asking for everything you need. Say if you want to make breakfast, and lunch and need a frying pan, egg lifter, whisk, bowl, cutting board, grater, breadknife etc. Perhaps if there was is a box of self catering equipment one can pay a deposit for? We opted to have dinner at the restaurant one night, but it wasn't something we would recommend as a must."

"It was difficult to find guest house (it is not in Google maps and even in Trip.com maps it was unclear there is reception and there is apartment. But the connection by phone was easy and we received a support - key and explanation very fast after arriving to the accommodation site. We appreciate our thanks for the real help with forgotten baggage delivery to the our next stop. It was done in spite of weekend days very correctly and friendly. Thank you again! The location is out of road in wild area nearby lake with plenty of birds and plants. It was impressive sunset and sunrise. In house we found all that we was needed for cooking, comfortable living"

The visit was amazing with Ben as a guide as we had the opportunity to visit the Heritage Farm after its closing, enjoying Ben’s very knowledgeable explanations in absolute peace. The light is amazing there in the evening and it was a visit we’ll remember for ever - our kids talk about it non stop. We 200% recommend!"

"We stayed for two nights recently. Availed ourselves of every activity they offer; game drive with Sheneena was absolutely fabulous, as is Hannalize the manager, but it is down hill from there. The kitchen staff (who had no idea of how to do a massage) do the massages at european prices, the cook was away but the owners are too greedy to employ someone to replace them so they had another staff member (who was Not a cook) make us truly awful food. The family was hosting a big loud christmas gathering with lots of screaming kids taking over the (small) pool, the whole outside terrace area was blocked off for the family, who were also taking over the kitchen to assemble their own meal. It was like being uninvited guests at someone else's party. We were locked inside next to a giant tv screen to eat our meals.. We presented our concerns to the owner, Paula, who offered to reimburse some of our accommodation costs as compensation. When we left, the family of owners were conspicuously absent as we were presented with the bill in its entirety to pay, including all extras and dodgy massages. This family also own de Zeekoe farm. We have never had anyone lie to us before in this manner. Totally unprofessional. I would advise never to stay at either place, there are plenty of fabulous quiet accommodations nearby not run by dishonest people."
