During my stay at an Airbnb property in Queenstown, there was a major issue with burst water pipes that caused flooding. When I contacted the host, their employee suggested that we find our own accommodation, which was not possible due to the fully booked area. Eventually, the employee suggested an alternative property that she managed, a timeshare property that was unrelated to the host's Airbnb property. Despite the employee informing us that staying in the timeshare property was illegal and that we did not have permission to stay there, we were left with no other option. When we informed the host that we did not stay at their property and requested not to be charged for the final night, they refused any compensation and stopped responding. The situation escalated when the host accused me of blackmail after I threatened to inform the timeshare owner of their illegal act. The host was profiting from me staying illegally at the timeshare property, which was unrelated to their Airbnb property, and tried to use Airbnb to prevent me from exposing their wrongdoing to the timeshare owner. I was disappointed with the host's unethical behavior and lack of responsibility to help their guests. However, after I filed a complaint with Airbnb, they responded promptly and initiated an investigation. They confirmed that there was a hosting violation and offered a partial refund. Despite the intervention of Airbnb, the host's behavior was unacceptable, and I would caution anyone considering staying at this property. It's important to be aware of the host's unethical actions and the lack of responsibility and support they provided during my stay.

The Black Sheep Backpackers

This backpackers really made our winter stay in Queenstown very memorable. We stayed in one of the second-storey family rooms with fantastic views of the Remarkables. The room was always warm with comfy beds, plenty of storage space and a fridge. A few things stood out for us: very helpful and friendly staff (nothing was ever a problem), very clean bathrooms, clean kitchen with plenty of cutlery and crockery, free meal on Wednesday night, free bike hire (quality bikes!), spa and within walking distance to all major attractions in the town. I'd highly recommend this backpackers!
The Central Private Hotel by Naumi Hotels

Queenstown is bustling but this hotel is on a quiet road just a few minutes stroll from the centre - perfect location. Very warm welcome. No staff on site overnight but manager available by telephone. Rooms spacious clean and comfortable/well equipped. Free laundry and sauna on lower ground floor. Very adequate breakfast in the bar starting at 8am. Limited paid parking onsite but we were lucky to get a space on the road just outside. Staff advised us to leave car there if possible so we didnt lose the space. Would have given 5 stars if parking was better -didnt bother us but could some people.
Eichardt's Private Hotel

We're very frequent travelers, frequently stay in nice hotels, and can sometimes run the risk of being jaded; Eichardt's might be one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. Where do we start...the stunning location, with the picture postcard Queenstown view from the balcony. The super-personal service, especially from Tom and Casey -- the staff remember not just your food preferences but what you were up to that day, your temperature settings in the room, and your tastes in wine...top notch. The superb, complementary wine tastings in the parlor every evening, allowing us to sample a broad range of New Zealand wines without committing to entire bottles. The recommendations for activities and meals tailored to our tastes. The most comfortable bed we've had in a hotel...the list goes on. Make your way to Queenstown now and stay at Eichardt's.

Queenstown House Lakeside

Excellent quality and thoughtfulness in all details throughout the studio. Lovely view of the lake and the Remarkable mountains. Appreciate laundry availability and included in the price. Easy access to downtown by foot and parking if you have a car. we stayed in the middle room on the second floor. I like to sleep with windows open, which was loud due to road traffic and people walking by on the sidewalk. I used earplugs and the noise issue was resolved.
Copthorne Hotel And Resort Queenstown Lakefront

I stayed here two nights on a Riviera Tour of New Zealand. The hotel consists of different linked buildings. However it is very easy to get lost despite them giving you a map. Our rooms overlooked the gardens unfortunately and not the lake. The rooms were ok. A bit tired and in need of refurbishment. However the beds were comfortable with good quality bedding and pillows. The location of the Hotel is at the top of a very steep hill that leads into Queenstown. The walk up is taxing for older people so be aware. The hotel has the usual facilities of bar, restaurant gym and pool. I can't comment on the gym or pool as we did not have time to use it. The outlook from the hotel is over the lake towards the Remarkable Mountains one of the locations used in Lord of the Rings. It is an absolutely stunning place. Queenstown has lots to do. We took advantage of this. The breakfast was good with hot and cold buffet. Plenty of fresh fruit and pastries as well. A group of us ate in the bar on evening after a tour. Everyone enjoyed their food. Drinks were not to expensive either. The place is a pain to find your way round, so allow time for getting lost when meeting people.
