Matraville Home Stay Lake Toba
"Great accommodation! Highly recommended. The owner was very friendly, informative and helpful. There’s free pick up service from the nearby jetty and drop off as well. Our rooms overlook the Lake Toba, the view was breathtakingly good. The property also offers motorbike rental with super affordable price. Anyone coming to Samosir Island please consider staying here. My elderly parents also approved this place."

"Good location..nice view"
Sibayak Guest house
"I wasn't expecting a lot as it was cheap to rent a room. A friendly helpful welcome Delighted it was so close to the water. However. As I choose the cheapest room it was very dark & dim inside and at the bottom on floor level. I wished I had paid a little more for a higher room with a balcony over looking the lake. The location was perfect. The owner very friendly & helpful, spoke very good english & understood English."
Samosir Cottages Resort
"Good, the hotel have beautiful view lake and is near with the restaurant"

Mas Cottages
"We had a wonderful family stay at this hotel. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable for everyone. The kids especially enjoyed the facilities, and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our suitable for both adults and children. The location is also convenient and easy to access. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing stay for our family. Definitely recommended for families traveling with kids!"
Horas Family Home
"Great place it was huge fornthe 2 of us! , Beautiful surroundings, close to lots of restaurants. Hosts were lovely and friendly, we had use of the kayak and small boat. Only negative was there was no air con but plenty of fans were pr9vided."
Toba Beach Hotel
"This was a lovely place for my short family holiday with a very Indonesian feel. I rate this a 3/5 to 4 star accommodation. I wish we could have stayed longer. It is best if you are a Bahasa Indonesia or Melayu speaker, because staff speak very little English. But we could get by with our broken limited Bahasa. It was a very quiet place, hardly any guests - I think because we travelled in the wet season. But our trip had many dry clear and beautiful days! The hotel staff were very kind to arrange and find driver for us prior to us arriving (arranged thru Whatsapp), so we could travel to and from Medan including across on the ferry to Samosir. Booked through Agoda. Our family suite on ground floor looked out to an unkempt garden and there was some ingrained mould or water damage in the wall of the lounge room. But otherwise very clean, friendly and helpful staff, and no dramas."
Toba Retreat Mansion and Villas
"We booked this hotel thinking it looked decent, but it was a disaster. The price is high for the terrible quality and service they provide. While the sheets and towels were thankfully clean, the rest of the hotel was disgusting. If you look closely at the corners, it’s filthy and covered in thick dust. The pool was also dirty, not clear or blue at all. The breakfast was a joke, clearly only meant for locals. For Western tourists, the only edible thing was sliced white bread. The breakfast area is so small they forced us into a random meeting room because there was no space. The tables there were filthy. To make matters worse, at the coffee corner, the sugar jar was literally full of ants. They removed it for one day, but the next morning the exact same dirty jar was back (just without the ants). They didn't even bother to clean it. Disgusting. The manager is so unprofessional. He kept nosily asking us how much money we spent on everything we did. When we arrived, we asked for a port pickup; he said they didn't offer the service but sent a tuk-tuk anyway, charging us an outrageous price. The same thing happened when we went to Tuk Tuk, it cost a fortune. When we confronted the driver, he apologized and admitted the hotel manager set the price. He is clearly ripping off tourists and taking a cut. The "cherry on top" was the second night. Around midnight, a huge group arrived and started partying, blasting music, and screaming. The manager had told us he was available 24/7, but when I messaged him, he ignored me. We went to reception, and it was completely empty. In the end, we had to go knock on the door of the party room ourselves. The next morning, instead of apologizing, the manager just joked and laughed about it with other people right in front of us. Absolutely unprofessional. Avoid this place."
Hotel Pandu Lakeside Tuktuk
"The Pandu Tuktuk Hotel boasts beautiful views and beautifully landscaped gardens. It boasts numerous aesthetic photo spots, including a gazebo that offers the best view."
Zoé’s Paradise Waterfront Hotel
"From the very first moment I contacted the hotel through WhatsApp to arrange transport and the day trip, until the moment I checked out, I was truly happy with the service they offered. The staff always greeted guests with a warm smile whenever we passed by the reception, which made us feel very welcomed throughout our stay. We were also served a welcome drink upon check-in, and the team even assisted with our luggage from the ferry drop-off all the way to our room. The hospitality was excellent. The day trip covered many interesting places and was very enjoyable. The only small suggestion I would give is that it would be even better if the trip included a recommendation for a good local food place or provided takeaway lunch, as we were unfamiliar with the food options here and didn’t know which places served tasty food. Another small issue was the water heater in the room, which was not working consistently. The water would start hot and then suddenly turn cold after a while. However, this did not change our overall experience at all. We truly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the kindness and professionalism from the team. Special thanks to reception staff Yuliati and Monica, as well as Angel from the restaurant, who always served us with a smile every time. Thank you for making our trip such a pleasant and memorable one!"
Gondang Sivali Hotel
"good location, wonderful service."
Judita Cottage
"Friendly staff, clean room and everywhere on the territory. Breakfast is not provided in this hotel, but there are several cafes nearby. The main drawback is the lack of soundproofing: the entrance door and window do not provide any soundproofing from the outside, and the room itself has a door (locked with a key) to the next room, which also does not provide any soundproofing from the neighbors. As a result, it was very noisy early in the morning and late in the evening. Nevertheless, overall, the impressions were good."
Thyesza Hotel
"The hotel is clean & comfortable"
