"Disgusting!! Dirty and poorly maintained. Uncomfortable - one thin pillow on the beds. Poor quality furniture - one drawer had to be secured with a sticking plaster. Wiring a total mess! Mould around edge of shower. Rusty lamp stand! Lift still not working after at least four years! Hard work carrying heavy bags up all the stairs. Dreadful! Worst room ever. The place should be closed for decent refurbishments. Not least for just the basics: clean - comfortable - working lift."

"I always try and stay here whilst working in the area. The staff are so friendly and realy make you feel at home. The hotel and rooms are spotless and so comfortable. Can't fault any meal I've had. Always full after evening meal but always got room by morning for a breakfast which keeps me going through the day. A big thank you to John the Manager and all his staff for making me feel so welcome each time. See you on my next visit."

"The good points: The staff are friendly and helpful and you can see they want to do a good job. The rooms are clean, well decorated and have plenty of power points. Things that could be better: Comfier beds and pillows. Somewhere in the shower rooms to store toiletries rather than on the floor. More storage for clothes. No breakfast - just a voucher for the shop. It would be better to knock some money off the price and just say they don't provide breakfast. Things that aren't good: The food - pretty much everything is deep fried and forget it if you are veggie or just want something wholesome and healthy. One of the menu items is called Tits 'N' ****. Really? I find that pretty offensive. Noise levels - from outside with traffic and from the pub across the road, ending late at night and starting again from 4am. And from inside the hotel, again starting from early in the morning - from around 4/4.30am. And I could hear the person in the next room snoring!!! For an odd night it's ok, but I think it would be a struggle if staying frequently or for a few nights. To be honest my score would be 2 if it wasn't for the cleanliness of the rooms and friendliness of the staff, whihc can mkae up for a lot. It feels like a drinkers' pub that has rooms upstairs rather than a hotel."

"This place is for workies wanting a cheap night whilst on a job. Do not book it. The tv didnt work, the kettle didnt work, our clothes were damp in the morning. The decor is horrendous and there is NOBODY around. You get an email with a number to call for a code... hopefully... we unfortunately did not get an email so we had to ask a lovely Italian guy in the same predicament to see his emails and found a contact number (he had booked through a different company) The pub over the road 'The lion and the lamb' is gorgeous. The food and staff are amazing and we camped in there until closing time after our walks. Please only book this place if you have a plastering job nearby!"

"Very clean hotel. It was a memorable stay during the solar eclipse. Not far from the beach. The hotel was  a bit far from the main lakes, but still reachable. The food was lush, especially dinner, variety of choices from the menu. Added bonus, it’s dog friendly. Could do with a fan in the room tho."

"Well the hotel Well apartment should i call it was ok clean and tidy and ok for the 2 nights that we were there anyway. 3 bulbs were not working in 2 lamps and the bedroom roof bulb was dim and flickering also the iron wasn't working and the hot water took an age to come from the tap and shower 😳 other than that ok."
