Castello Village Resort ★★★★
"Firstly, the setting was stunning. For a last-minute booking, Castello Village Resort offered fantastic value for money. Sissi itself is peaceful and beautiful, making it the perfect destination if you’re looking for a relaxing escape away from the crowds. We enjoyed coastal walks, easy access to nearby beaches and local tavernas, and the resort itself felt like a charming Greek village. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and featured a great shower and private seating area. One of the most memorable parts of our stay was the incredible sunsets. Watching the sun go down over the sea from the resort was absolutely breathtaking, with beautiful colours lighting up the coastline each evening. It quickly became one of our favourite parts of the day. A special mention has to go to Elvis, who is worth his weight in gold. He was not only incredibly friendly and accommodating but also had a natural warmth that extended to every guest. We noticed how fantastic he was with children, always bringing smiles to families and creating a welcoming atmosphere. His upbeat personality and genuine hospitality made every mealtime a pleasure and played a huge part in making our holiday so enjoyable. We opted for the full-board package and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the food. There was always something to enjoy, accompanied by a lovely wine selection. We also attended a fantastic jazz night at the sister hotel, which guests staying at Castello Village Resort can book and enjoy. Although Sissi is a smaller resort town, it was easy to hire bikes and explore further afield, including trips to Malia and other nearby beaches. Heraklion is also only around an hour away, making it a great base for exploring more of Crete. Everywhere we went, we found the locals warm and welcoming, and every restaurant we visited served delicious traditional cuisine. Before travelling, I had seen a few reviews mentioning cleanliness, security, and additional charges for the safe key. In our experience, none of these were an issue. Our room was cleaned and the beds were made almost every day during our stay, with only one day missed. We did experience the shower overflowing once, but quickly realised it was due to the drainage setting rather than a fault and had no further problems. The safe key was included at no extra cost, and throughout our stay we felt completely comfortable and secure in both the resort and our room. Overall, Castello Village Resort gave us a relaxing, memorable holiday and excellent value for money. Between the beautiful setting, stunning sunsets, fantastic food, and exceptional staff, it’s somewhere we would happily recommend to others and would love to return to in the future."
Enorme Santanna Island ★★★★
"We had an absolutely wonderful experience in every way. The resort is beautiful, very well maintained, and spotlessly clean, both in the rooms and throughout all the common areas. The food is excellent, varied and plentiful, with plenty of choice and very good quality. A special mention must go to the amazing staff: always smiling, friendly, helpful and attentive to every need. They truly make you feel welcome and looked after from the moment you arrive. We spent some wonderful days here, and everything contributed to making our holiday in Crete truly special. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic stay in Crete. Five stars, absolutely deserved!"
Mila Sissi Bay Hotel ★★★★
"Arrived by private transfer arranged by the hotel at our request. Just 30 minutes. I travelled with my 17 yr old daughter for a short break and we were so pleased we booked this hotel. Room - stayed in an urban facing suite which is two separate rooms with a single sofa bed made up as the second bed. Can’t fault the suite. Separate aircon in both rooms. Fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Small balcony with rail to hang wet items. High praise from my daughter - best room ever ! Housekeeping come in every day and are very thorough. Food - we ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel each day. Breakfast items are refilled regularly and varied hot and cold selection. Lunch menu is big with a special each day. Portion sizes are big and quality of food is good, very well priced. Drinks - Hugo spritz, my favourite on the menu ! Staff are attentive without being pushy and brings drinks to the pool area. Big cocktail list Reception- Kathryn is a pleasure to deal with and very knowledgeable on the local area and prompt in dealing with requests. There is a shower room in the reception block to use if you are leaving after check out time. Sissi village - we ate at different restaurants each evening and every meal was fantastic. Greek night at Amelia’s is great fun, happens on Tuesday and Thursday. We booked to ensure a table. The village is lovely, felt so safe and friendly. Overall, sea views, lovely pool area with sun beds always available and great staff in a fantastic location. A great relaxing holiday x"
Castello Boutique Resort & Spa - Adults Only ★★★★★
"We had a fantastic time as this hotel. I booked the holiday for myself and my parents as a well deserved get away after some difficult times. From the day we arrived to the day we left the staff at the hotel were friendly, helpful and caring. Haris greeted us showed us to our room she was so warm and welcoming. Our room was fanatics (maisonette with private pool) the room was spotless with plenty of space. My parents took the upstairs while I slept on the sofa bed. After my first night the bed was slightly uncomfortable we mentioned this to housekeeping and the mattress was later replaced ! The shower is fantastic with amazing shower products. There’s a mini fridge, kettle, coffee machine, plenty of wardrobe space and a large mirror in the room. There is a shop next door where we went to get drinks and snacks as well as souvenirs, everything is in walking distance. The beach (Boufos beach) is a 5 minute walk the path isn’t sign posted but follow your phone map and you will be able to see the “path”. We didn’t have dinner at the restaurant instead we went out each night. We tried to eat at Amelia Taverna as Thursday is Greek night but you will need to book prior. Instead we eat at Mike Place a lovey family run restaurant who grow/farm most of their food. We also eat at Kyma, Ormos Cafe and Stam Stam for the best “takeaway”. There are plenty of places all reasonably priced near the harbour. On the Sunday we headed to Juniper Bar to watch the F1 the cocktails were great with super fast service. Breakfast at the hotel was good with a variety of pastries, breads and cereals as well as cold meats and cheese . There’s a variety of egg options, ‘bacon’ and ‘sausages’,beans on the hot station. There is a omelette station which my parents used most morning for fresh made omelettes. Yeta and Xristos were lovely remembering how we liked our tea and were always happy to stop for a quick chat. There was a slight issue with our AC but was quickly fixed. The last night Sissi experienced a power cut (not usual for the area) however the hotel had generators and everything was back up and running shortly. Every time we walked past a member of staff instead or outside the hotel we were always greeted with a ‘Kalimera’ or an enjoy your day they truly made us feel welcome. My mum spoke to a lovely lady Maria who wanted to know how our holiday was. Maria consoled my mum (how was been going though a hard time) and kept her company while my dad and I went out for a drink. Yeta, Konstantina, Sakis, Gabriel, Yannis, Xristos, Haris (and all the staff and housekeeping) Thank you ! The hotel has a great calming feel and there were activities/shows most evening either at the hotel or across the road at the sister hotels. As we had our own pool we didn’t spent much time as the shared pool but the loungers were comfortable with lots of umbrellas. The private pool could do with a ledge inside to sit as the pool is all one level but wasn’t a big issue as I bought a floa"
Angela Suites Boutique Hotel ★★★★★
"Angela Suites is in an ideal location to enjoy all the local restaurants and cocktail bars in Sissi. The hotel is extremely clean and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We didn't have an evening meal in the restaurant but lunchtime drinks and food was good and reasonably priced. I found the breakfast very repetitive, the fresh fruit salad never varied, I never saw a grape, apple or any berries in 14 days. There was the usual self service hot food section, toast, croissants, greek yoghurt but no cooked to order egg station. Other guests were permitted to smoke on the edge of the breakfast area and of course, smoke travels! It was the same round the pool. As far as the hotel, I believe the only reason it is classed as 5* is because of the onsite spa and gym. The communal areas were 4* at best and our Junior suite room with balcony was more a 3/3.5*. The bath area is very dated with a shower over the bath and a shower curtain. I can't remember the last time I saw one of those! The bed is memory foam and comfortable and our sheets were changed every couple of days. Although the towels were thin, they were nice and white and changed daily. Because this is classed as a 5* hotel, the daily tax is €15. The hotel also has an apartment block, steps away and the guests are able to use all the facilities of the hotel, the tax for the apartments is only €2 daily. I have given this a 4 out of 5, but my true rating would be 3.5 out of 5. We did enjoy our stay in Sissi, it is a very pretty town but unfortunately I probably would not return to Angela Suites."
Vasia Resort and Spa, Sissi, Crete ★★★★★
"We returned to Vasia having had a beautiful holiday there in 2024. There have been changes since Marriot have come in to the mix, most for the better, some we have been assured will be improved once all the renovations are complete. The rooms are so lovely, clean, spacious, my 2 daughters were so happy to find they had their own floor up a spiral staircase with their own bathroom and balcony in the 2 bedroom family room we stayed in. With a bathroom downstairs and terrace for us, we were more than happy. The staff were amazing in every area, special mention to Sheryl, Simos, Adrian, Singh, and Richie around the pool (there are 3 pools but we stayed around the main one as it suited us better). Food was amazing in all the restaurants but our favourite was the Greek Restaurant by the seafront, beautiful food, especially the calamari! John and Esmerand made us feel like family and really made our holiday special. The entertainment wasn't as frequent as our last visit but the fire show is still on once a week and a dj slot has been added around the main pool on a sunday which we loved! Overall a wonderful holiday in Vasia, thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome. See you again soon!"
Palm Bay ★★
"We didn’t stay at the hotel but stumbled across Palm Bay while strolling round Sissi looking for somewhere to have a light snack. Location is very good, the walk through the “garden” area is beautiful & the views are stunning but the prices are ridiculous. When I questioned the 17€ we were charged for 2 slices of toast with jam, they told me I’d requested continental breakfast so I told them we won’t be returning. On a positive, the jam was very nice but certainly not worth the charge. Two stars, one for the beautiful setting & one for the jam."
Vasia Sea Retreat ★★★
"This is our first visit here, we normally stop at the vasia resort and spa, And we thought we would try the sea retreat this time. What an amazing place, so chilled and relaxing, the place is immaculate and the staff are amazing, good to see some of the staff that worked at the vasia resort like Christina on reception, Marios and the team do a fabulous job. We're stopping half board and the food every night in the restaurant has been excellent, and the all the staff are so attentive. We are going to come back the end of September. Thank you for making our week here so amazing."
Angela Studios Apartments ★★★
"Terrific apartments really clean and the kitchen is well equipped if you feel the need to cook. Staff are warm and very welcoming. We went b&b and there was a wide variety to eat and of good quality. The pool area was great as well. We can't wait to get back. "
