Galotel Agnoudas Near the Airport ★★★
"To be honest the first impression was not that good. We had to call a few minutes before arriving as the owner did not live on the property. One reviewer had called it a scam, though that seemed to be just the result of a misunderstanding. A few bells were ringing and we were “on alert.” The fact that Galotel Agnoudas had a board with its name and phone number was a bit reassuring, and when the owner showed us in, the place was clean, neat, tidy, with all that we needed for our short stay before catching a flight at the airport next morning. Also the two cats were friendly to receive scritches. I reckon that says something about the place. The room was big enough and the beds — two single and two bunks — were comfortable. All was spotlessly clean. Toiletries were provided. The shower worked well. There was a small fridge, though we didn't use it. I had to return a hire car at the airport. The owner offered to guide me there and bring me back. He also took me to the petrol station and was willing to support me if there was any issue at the car hire — luckily there wasn't, but he was willing. For an evening meal we walked into the town centre, about 500m away. We used Tripadvisor to find a restaurant, but it had become an English language school, so that was no good. Then to find another restaurant but it was closed that day. Finally we just wandered and ended up at the Novo, which did a tasty meal for two at a good price. The town is not particularly pretty but it is bustling with life. The owner drove us to the airport at 0400 to catch our flight. I don't often give glowing reviews but Galotel Agnoudas deserves it."
Retroverse Eccentric Stay
"I think this is an amazing hostel especially for the price. All the amenities are new, and the room and bathroom is very clean. The beds are comfy and bottom bunks have drawers under, plus you each have a very big locker with a shelf. You get a key for your locker so no need for a lock. The shower has great water pressure and there’s all in one shampoo/shower gel available and a big towel. The AC is perfect, and you can change settings on the little electronic panel in your room. The kitchen is well stocked with all the cutlery, pans and dishes you might need and with microwaves, kettle, toaster, two stoves and three fridges. There’s plenty of space to sit to have your food downstairs! Reception were also super nice and helped me with info on what I wanted to see/do and lent me a cable for my kindle. Thanks guys :) By the way, the neighbourhood is not as bad as YouTube videos made it. I’ve walked as a solo female traveler at 12am a few times through it, and it was alright and there were other women walking late at night by themselved. Just don’t be downright careless and walk with purpose. The hostel is really not far from the main road and those are perfectly fine - it’s only the area near the metro I found a bit sus which is why I generally just took the bus or metro from another station."
