Free breakfast, free Sauna and Turkish bath, free indoor and outdoor pool makes this place a bargain if you can get reasonable rates (65€ we paid per night). Buffet dinner 29€/Person + drinks is overpriced (local restaurant dinner incl. drinks is 15-20€/Person) Breakfast buffet has huge selection, made to order eggs and stuff is a real plus. Parking (still) free (incl. the roadside). Very nice personell all over - high recommened for Tavira! I recomend "Restraurante O Simao" in residential area"

"Gorgeous hotel situated in a quaint square near a church and lovely sound of bells. Our room faced the square. Very nice. Spotlessly clean. Everything we could need, including slippers which are always necessary. Turn down service too. Chocolate. Wine. And hotel staff, so friendly and attentive. Beautifully renovated building. Breakfast was really lovely. Again, staff friendly without being in your face. Good coffee, overnight oats, fruit, eggs. Most everything. We did not dine here but regret having not done so. All in all a winner of a hotel. Would definitely recommend. Only one thing, there really isn't a pool per se but more like a small plunge pool. Apart from that. Five stars."

"Despite arriving a good few hours prior to check in, Mario welcomed us in like we were old friends. He let us store our luggage, and insisted that we have some tea and cake whilst we planned how to pass a few hours in Tavira and our room was made ready. Mario was also helpful in advising where to eat and visit both in Tavira and in the Algarve region generally. The exterior of the building itself is well maintained but relatively unassuming from the outside. However, that big red door hides a beautiful traditional stone staircase which wouldn’t be out of place in an aristocratic Portuguese period drama. The staircase leads to intimate surroundings and a well-balanced interior, mixing the traditional and rustic with a modern edge. Nestled at the back of the property is a picturesque patio which doubles as a sun trap with small plunge pool and orange trees. We stayed in the 'Alagoa' suite which was clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated with traditional blankets and rugs, making it feel homely and welcoming. The walk-in shower is the biggest I’ve had the pleasure of using. There’s complimentary shampoo, body wash, and conditioner for use together with hand soap, hand lotion, mosquito repellent, and cotton pads and buds. The bed and pillows were extremely comfy. The room also had air con, a fridge, tea making facilities, and more complimentary cake. Storage is discrete yet plentiful and practical. The wi-fi is great. We didn’t use the TV. The hotel is conveniently located with the local bars and restaurants only a short walk away, yet it is nice and quiet during the night. My partner was kindly gifted a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate his birthday which was a lovely touch and only served to emphasise just how hospitable the staff who run the hotel are. We both slept well, and the following morning we enjoyed a fulfilling and high-quality buffet style breakfast with eggs made to order. My partner and I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to any couples looking to stay in Tavira, and would happily book it again for a long weekend. Thank you Mario!"
Golden Club Cabanas
"Golden Club Cabanas Review We stayed at the Golden Club Cabanas for a week in May through RCI. The setting is absolutely wonderful, right in the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The beach can only be reached by boat, with a regular shuttle running throughout the day, which adds to the experience. Guests do have to wear a wristband all week to show the boat captain, which we personally found a little cumbersome and irritating. Cabanas itself is lovely and makes a great base for exploring Faro, Tavira and the beautiful wetlands of the Reserva Natural do Sapal de Castro Marim e Vila Real de Santo António. Sadly, the Golden Club resort itself feels very tired and in real need of refurbishment, which is a shame because it has so much potential. Our apartment was spacious but clearly neglected in places. The floor coverings on the landings were particularly dirty and could really do with a deep clean. The evening entertainment was also very loud and continued until around 11pm each night, which may bother lighter sleepers. One thing to be aware of is that there are no duvets on the beds. We were only provided with a sheet and bedspread, and even with the extra blanket from the wardrobe we still felt cold at times. If you use the air conditioning for heating, be warned that electricity is charged separately and quite expensively — we paid over €40 for the week. The apartment was also rather sparsely equipped for self-catering. We were only given very small tumblers and would have appreciated some proper glasses for water, wine or beer. No washing-up liquid or scourer was provided initially, although reception did supply them quickly once we asked. Our dishwasher didn’t work when we arrived, but to be fair it was replaced very promptly after we reported it. However, no dishwasher tablets were provided. Despite all of this, would we return? Honestly, yes — in a flash if we found a cheap flight again. The stay only cost us around 25,000 RCI points, so in many ways you do get what you pay for. The location really is superb and with some investment the resort could be fantastic."

"We took the cooking class in this hotel and wish we would have stayed there for our trip. This place was one of the highlights of our trip to the Algarve. The owner is passionate about sustainable farming. She's actively expanding the farm that has been in her family, now, for three generations. It was a small number of students, five. She taught us traditional Portuguese recipes, including fresh seafood cataplanos. At the end of the class, we ate with our new friends on a beautiful terrace next to her bed & breakfast. All of our dinner companions, guests at the B&B, raved about their stay there. "
