"I will never stay here again, booked for 2 adults and 1 child, child’s bed wasn’t made ready for us to call reception and for the lady to only say you will have to pay for the child’s breakfast (this wasn’t the problem we called about) then for the lady to bring bedding to the room and place it next to the bed that we had to then make up ourselves (something we paid for) we said we would pay the additional £10 for our sons breakfast for the lady to be completely rude and say she’s not bothered and to walk out no manager on site apparently for us to speak to until the next morning I find this completely unacceptable and for nothing to then be done about this apart from a passing apology on our way out is ridiculous"

"Had read reviews saying it was dated. Couldn't disagree, but it is a Victorian building. Had a couple of small issues, main was tea at breakfast. Can't beat a cup of tea after a full English. Unfortunately, both days i was there, the tea was undrinkable, tasted bad. Think the issue is the flasks for hot water to be used in the tea. Tea of course has to be made with boiling water, it can't be boiling sat around in a flask. Need to invest in a hot water machine. On the plus side, all staff were very friendly and helpful. Indoor pool and jaccuzi were good."

"AN EXTREMELY BAD EXPERIENCE, CUSTOMER SERVICE HORRIBLE On arrival I could not check-in because reception staff told me I had not pre paid. I showed proof of my Trip.com booking payment and my bank statement but staff wanted me to send copies to senior hotel staff directly to prove payment. I objected, an argument ensued, waiting customers witnessed were embarrassed. I paid cash and waited the entire day before staff agreed payment had been made and I was refunded BUT NO APOLOGIES. NO BREAKFAST. Premier Inn had been having website issues admitted by reservation staff. I booked 2 days but only 1 day could I book breakfast. The site would not permit reserving breakfast. Hotel staff offered that I pay extra for breakfast but my second night room booking was already more expensive than the first night which included breakfast. By this time I was so pissed off that we checked out without breakfast. THE WIFI DID NOT WORK. Neither mine or my wife phone could receive Wifi. I emailed the internet provider for the hotel and eventually received service. Reception staff tried for more than an hour and could not fix the problem. THE HOTEL IS OLD AND DECOR DOWDY. The entire decor of the hotel is old looking and desperately needs a remodel and modern colour scheme upgrade. Carpets, artificial wood floors and window coverings have the appearance of being very old."

Very clean and tidy and decor very nice, just a very relaxing and calm place to stay. Lovely, pretty little pool area with sunloungers. Would definitely recommend and stay again"

"We had a lovely one-night stay at The Somerville in Torquay and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Peter and Alison were amazing hosts who made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Their friendly hospitality really made our stay special. Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing night. Breakfast was an easy 10/10 – delicious, freshly prepared, and with plenty of choice. To top it all off, they served the best cup of tea I've ever had! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend The Somerville to anyone visiting Torquay."

"DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! We booked a two night stay here. There was no facilities so we went to Tesco Express at 8 this morning to get some milk and breakfast. Arrived back at the hotel to find we had been locked out due to a faulty door code. My 50 year old husband had to climb a six foot fence to get access to the back of the hotel. We called the numbers multiple times and nobody answered them. We were locked out for 40 minutes in the pouring rain and in our pyjamas. I took videos of us trying to get in. The room was smelly and dirty in places. Eventually we were able to get in after the manager came down in his pyjamas. We immediately made the decision to check out and find alternative accommodation for our remaining night but the hotel refused to refund any of our stay and claimed our evidence of the incident which was submitted to *********** were lies. I’ve now contacted the bank to get a refund that way but that won’t help my husbands knees which have been hurt climbing the fence. Absolutely awful."

"Recently returned from yet another delighful stay with the lovely Lisa and Christoffe who are always so welcoming and hospitable. The level of accomodation is excellent and the standard of Christoffe's breakfast is always "par ecellence". Set in a prime location it is close to all facilities Torquay has to offer within a short walking distance. It is an ideal base to visit a number of destinations within the area such as Brixham, Dartmouth and many other places of interest. Already looking forward to our next visit and hope to be back in the very near future."
