"The Towada Winter Story Festival was a total bust, but Lake Towada itself was an unexpected delight – absolutely stunning. By chance, I even hiked a portion of the Oirase Stream in the morning. The weather, with snow one minute and clear skies the next, added so much character to the lake's scenery. The hotel room was spacious, and it was quite an interesting check-in experience, using very old-fashioned keys and a metal door."

"Tsuta Onsen♨️, this is a very, very old century-old hotel, and the main building exudes a strong nostalgic atmosphere. Feeling: Time has given it an incredible mysterious atmosphere, isolated from the "modern". The facilities are very old. There is no bathroom in the main building. The bathroom is shared but not inconvenient, and it is very clean, as if returning to college. It is also a good way to feel the past, which is different from staying in Hoshino Oirase. You can feel the warmth and attention from time to time. View: This place has a long-standing connection with Japan's great writer Omachi Keizuki, and many of the great writers' works were completed here. So there is also an Omachi Keizuki exhibition room for visitors. Tour: There are seven large and small lakes formed by volcanic action behind the Tsuta Onsen Hotel, known as the "Tsuta Seven Swamps". Among them, Tsuta Swamp is a popular check-in place for photography enthusiasts, who squat in the middle of the night just to shoot the moment of "Tsuta Morning Burning". The weekly hiking route is 2.9 kilometers, and it is particularly comfortable to step on the soft leaves and breathe fresh air. Transportation: When you go there, there is a bus from Aomori Station (running from 9/1 to 11/11) directly to the entrance of the hot spring hotel, or you can take the pick-up bus from the hotel to Shichihe Towada Shinkansen to get there easily (pick-up at 15:00 and pick-up at 9:30). The driver, an old man, helped everyone get on and off the bus with luggage, and waited for everyone to get off the bus with large and small luggage. It was very considerate. If you want to deeply experience the culture and customs of Japan, Tsuta Hot Spring Hotel is worth staying."

"This hot spring inn faces a relatively large road. It was a little like a combination of a super public bath and accommodation. There were many people who seemed to be locals in the hot spring. This time I chose a plan that included a meal (Towada's specialty barayaki). It was delicious. It might be good for those who want to stay at a hot spring cheaply. It is a flowing hot spring. I don't think it is suitable for those who are looking for a slightly luxurious trip. Oirase, Lake Towada, and Towada Art Center are also easy to get to if you have a rental car."

"The service attitude is very poor, not like in Japan. His speech was all in a commanding tone. Around 6 in the evening, the entire building turned off the lights and locked the doors without informing them in advance. There was no one at the front desk, so I couldn't go out for dinner. I was really shocked. The hygiene is average, there is dust and hair, and the location is not very good. It is far away from Lake Towada. It feels like marching with the suitcase."

"Upon entering the room, we found many bugs on the floor. We asked the owner to clean it, but bugs kept appearing after we checked in. Later, we discovered that our room was the one with the emergency escape ladder, which explained how the bugs got in (the brown-winged stink bugs smelled terrible). I believe the owner should have known about the problem with this room and shouldn't have rented it out, as we spent a whole night catching bugs."

"It takes about an hour's drive from Oirase Gorge and Sukayu Onsen. For dinner, we had a refreshing meal of horse meat jingisukan (grilled lamb). The hot spring water was very alkaline, and it made my skin incredibly smooth. I was surprised to find that even the water coming out of the tap contained hot spring components. There were many day-trippers from the morning. There was a coin laundry on the premises, which was very helpful as I was able to do laundry once during my 2-night, 3-day trip."
