Hotel Towadaso ★★★
"Dinner was very terrible, it was really less , after eating dinner we ate something else to make us full. And breakfast was also bad, the food was also less and not that good. We went there during winter, and outdoor hot springs would be better with outdoor ones, but it was closed due to winter? What such thing is that. When we got into the indoor hot spring it was really hot and everything was rusted. We wanted to go out but it was closed so have no choice to go indoor and stand the heat that made our skin red. And if your room is at the very end, and you are using the left that you have to walk, really far. And if you don't want to walk far there is also stairs near by which is tiring. And there was a bug on the stairs once which is really unhinge. The money isn't worth it"
Smile Hotel Towada ★★★
"The parking lot was spacious and the front desk was quick to respond. The rooms were easy to use and well-cleaned. I would like to use them again."
Tsuta Onsen Ryokan ★★★
"Tsuta Onsen♨️, this is a very, very old century-old hotel, and the main building exudes a strong nostalgic atmosphere. Feeling: Time has given it an incredible mysterious atmosphere, isolated from the "modern". The facilities are very old. There is no bathroom in the main building. The bathroom is shared but not inconvenient, and it is very clean, as if returning to college. It is also a good way to feel the past, which is different from staying in Hoshino Oirase. You can feel the warmth and attention from time to time. View: This place has a long-standing connection with Japan's great writer Omachi Keizuki, and many of the great writers' works were completed here. So there is also an Omachi Keizuki exhibition room for visitors. Tour: There are seven large and small lakes formed by volcanic action behind the Tsuta Onsen Hotel, known as the "Tsuta Seven Swamps". Among them, Tsuta Swamp is a popular check-in place for photography enthusiasts, who squat in the middle of the night just to shoot the moment of "Tsuta Morning Burning". The weekly hiking route is 2.9 kilometers, and it is particularly comfortable to step on the soft leaves and breathe fresh air. Food: The delicious food of one night and two meals is all carefully selected local ingredients. It is not luxurious but exquisite. Service: The service of the hotel is very considerate. The おばさん treats us as special people and cares for us, which makes us feel warm. After taking a hot spring bath, there is local ice cream in the lounge for free. Transportation: When you go there, there is a bus from Aomori Station (running from 9/1 to 11/11) directly to the entrance of the hot spring hotel, or you can take the pick-up bus from the hotel to Shichihe Towada Shinkansen to get there easily (pick-up at 15:00 and pick-up at 9:30). The driver, an old man, helped everyone get on and off the bus with luggage, and waited for everyone to get off the bus with large and small luggage. It was very considerate. If you want to deeply experience the culture and customs of Japan, Tsuta Hot Spring Hotel is worth staying."
Super Hotel Towada ★★★
"breakfast area so small. Limited choice for Breakfast. Onsen very very small."
Hotel Route-Inn Towada ★★★
"I needed to find accommodation for a late-night work assignment and found this place, but there was absolutely no transportation to get there. My requests to cancel were repeatedly rejected, which is very unreasonable."
Hoshino Resorts Oirase Keiryu Hotel ★★★★★
"I can only say that when traveling abroad, it's always Chinese people ripping off other Chinese people! I doubt even 10% of the guests here are local Japanese. This hotel was hyped up so much on Xiaohongshu, and it's always fully booked on Trip.com. I finally managed to snag two nights last year, only to be sorely disappointed. Both Hoshino Resorts hotels I stayed at this trip were a letdown. Firstly, the hotel's decor, apart from the lobby, just screamed simple and cheap everywhere else. Some might call it 'returning to nature,' but I personally think it doesn't justify the 5K+ a night price tag. Secondly, the hot spring was incredibly, incredibly ordinary. In the evening, it was packed like a pot of boiling dumplings. The 'ice wall hot spring' photos circulating online? That's literally the entire outdoor section. Without filters, it's just a frozen wall you could find anywhere. Lastly, and most outrageously, the rooms don't provide drinking water. You either drink tap water or go to a corner on the second floor (we were on the 4th, I think there's a 5th too) to get purified water. The water dispenser's flow rate was barely more than my tears. Maybe most people don't know they can get purified water, or they're too lazy to walk that far, otherwise, the queue to get water would stretch for miles. When I told my Japanese friends that I paid 5K a night, their jaws dropped! They said they'd get at least a 30% discount if they booked it. I guess getting ripped off while traveling is the norm, and I wouldn't mind if the premium price meant a comfortable and happy stay. But paying 5K for a hotel and still having to fetch my own water was completely unexpected. The only upsides were the breakfast by the stream (very hard to book, we only managed to get four spots for six people by booking over two months in advance) and the pleasant atmosphere of the French dinner."
Towadakohan Sakura ★★★
"Location is good. Room is clean. People are nice. Soundproof can lmprove a bit but it is very common issue for most of the hotels."
Oirase Mori no Hotel ★★★
"Since it was a weekday, there were only a few guests staying, so we were able to relax. Since it is "in the forest," there are no convenience stores or supermarkets nearby, so if you want to drink at night, you will need to buy snacks and other items in the city before going."
Hotel Pony Onsen ★★
"We were surprised by the quality of the hot spring water! It was very creamy. The room was also well-cleaned, making for a very pleasant stay. My husband and I were looking for a warm, cozy, and unpretentious inn, so we were very satisfied. The hand-brewed draft beer at dinner was delicious. When we asked for a photo, she accepted with a smile despite being busy. Thank you for taking a commemorative photo of us with such a lovely smile. The staff member was a young woman, but she gave us such warm hospitality. Thank you very much."
