Great ocean view and nostalgic charm! An absolute gem on the coast! We were very lucky to be assigned Room 24 – a beautiful, wonderfully spacious room facing the sea. The view from there is simply breathtaking! We were able to enjoy one of the most stunning, violet-glowing sunsets right from our window. An unforgettable experience! We were also particularly fascinated by the magnificent dining room. The entire ambiance exudes a wonderful nostalgia that instantly takes you back 40 years to a stylish, elegant era. The tables were beautifully set with fine porcelain dinnerware – dinner there was a true delight for all the senses. The location of the hotel is also excellent: perfectly situated in Stranraer right by the harbor, making it an ideal starting point for exploring or continuing the journey. The service was attentive and warm. Full points from us and a very clear recommendation for this historic castle by the harbor! We would love to come back.

Excellent stay at The Garret — easily a 10/10. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and had every amenity I could have needed for a really enjoyable stay. The bar and restaurant were also well stocked, with a great selection, making it easy to relax without needing to head elsewhere. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Kirkcudbright, so it’s a great base for exploring the town and surrounding area. I actually stayed here while cycling the SWC300, and one of the big deciding factors for me was the secure bike locker in the garden. It was brilliant to have somewhere safe and secure to leave the bike overnight, which is a huge bonus for anyone travelling by bike. Overall, a fantastic stay with everything I needed. I’d happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it, particularly to anyone cycling through the area.

The staff is a young lady who is very helpful and friendly. We stayed here for a night to stopover for a Scotland trip. The room is pretty self sufficient yet the shower gel (all in one for shampoo and shower) have used up and didn't being refill before our arrival. I only got half shower and the lady at the reception helped to get another one (she is really helpful). There is hairdryer which is very nice (another hotel that we stayed in doesn't even provide one until we asked for it). The bedsheet got some sort of dirt (something in red) but they at least look white and clean other than that. The room is overall okay for the price and it is not the worse Hotel we have in this trip. They also got a door swing bar which is good. Toilet is clean. Towels are provided. Location is great since there are restaurants around and plenty of choices.

The Portpatrick Hotel is a stunning building, inside and out. Obviously, this is shown by the slightly dated decor, but I would imagine it is a listed building, and their hands will be tied regarding what modifications they could make to it. For me, it adds to the charm of the place. The rooms are clean and have exactly what you need for a comfortable stay. If I had one complaint, it would be the shower; it was poor and rarely had hot water. Again, I understand this could be due to the volume of people in an old building. This did not affect my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar and games room were great, and breakfast was great value served in a stunning dining room. Will definitely be returning one day, thanks for a great stay! I cannot recommend too highly a stay at the Crown Hotel. We were warmly welcomed by staff, helped take our belongings to our room which had all the facilities one would expect. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless and although not needed by us, a room heater and also a portable room cooling unit available should these be required. There were ample toiletries in the bathroom and the same for the tea/coffee/biscuits tray. The highlight of our stay was that breakfast was included in the price we paid. It was a full Scottish breakfast and everything on the plate was of the highest quality and service was excellent. Once again, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Portpatrick, this is the place, right on the sea front.

This hotel is desperately in need of a refurbishment. It is incredibly tired and below par even for a low-budget hotel. As a disabled person, I was disgusted by how out of touch they were with code in this day and age, including a serious violation. We had very hard beds, which I couldn't sleep on, so I ended up with no sleep. The showers were over a bath (not very practical for a disabled person, especially with no bath seat), and the water pressure was basically a dribble, so it took forever to wash long hair. All in all, it's a shame the hotel itself is so disappointing, as it is in an ideal location for stopping off when traveling through, and it's situated beside a beautiful lake. The staff were very polite.

From the outside (scaffolding etc) we wondered what it would be like but we were pleasantly surprised.  We had booked a standard room which was clean and tidy with all the bits we needed, kettle, tea/coffee, hairdryer.  The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.  Breakfast could be cereal with milk or yogurt, cooked breakfast, toast or croissant, big choice and all fresh and freshly cooked.  We had the cooked breakfast - WOW - lasted us all day.  The little town of Annan, all I can say is, if you don’t visit it, you will miss out on a treat. PS the scaffolding is for all the renovations which will improve the property.  We would love to return one day.

I was greeted as a returning customer but hadn’t been there for 17years  The staff were very friendly and helpful and polite  The service I received was excellent and the food was excellent that I received  The first room I stayed in was a little bit tired but as it’s a single bed room it was more than acceptable  The second night was a different room as I extended my stay and was a superior single and was more in price but I found it to be excellent  A great hotel with great staff and would recommend a stay if you’re passing through Lockerbie or need a hotel base in the area

We had a 2 night break our room was a Queen bed double room and dog friendly as is the hotel.the room was exceptionally clean and warm the bed was extremely comfortable the wardrobes and units gave ample storage and the shower was hot and comfortable to use .there are also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We ate at the restaurant both nights and breakfast was included also.The quality of all the food was excellent and all staff were very friendly and efficient ,Really enjoyed our stay and would hope to go back in the future

Beautiful B&B right in the centre of Dumfries. Excellent access to many amenities and a two minute walk to the train station. Despite its location the Huntingdon offers a great night's sleep. My room (the annex) was spacious and stylishly decorated, with all the necessary facilities. It was immaculately clean. One minor grump was the lack of shelf in the shower - trying to pick up shampoo from the floor is difficult mid shower. Breakfast was very good quality, and the poached eggs superb. Would thoroughly recommend this B&B.
